• Quack quack quack...

  • Mark Hyman talks a lot of sense here. Robin P Clarke autismcauses. info

  • I'm autistic. When I was diagnosed, my mother was told not to expect much from me--that I would barely squeak through high school, shouldn't even consider college, and would likely die young and alone. My diet has consisted almost entirely of breads, dairy, meat and all the processed, artificial food I can shove down my throat. I earned a Bachelor's degree with no special treatment--my professors and most friends didn't even know I was autistic--and have had several girlfriends. Just a thought.

  • @b1gregjockca Well, you'll go far in this life with an attitude like that. It's only a matter of time before you end up in jail as one of the many that has murdered a disabled person due to insensitivity. Science fact is not produced by quacks. However theories like this and those of the anti-vaccine movement are not based on any scientific evidence, therefore, their theories are produced by quacks. And for the record no routine childhood vaccines (required vs. recommended) contain any mercury.

  • create a thesis, put thesis to the test, if test suceed and thesis still stands, publish new discovery..

  • I don't think this guy is aware of the non verbal cues. I think he only knows of "behavior" stuff like stimming, zoning out, sensory issues, etc. But not the not being able to "see" non verbal info thing. People (who know autism is neurological) already know that limiting some food stuff / chemicals or giving some things helps, doesn't mean it's a body disorder now o.O

  • @Qwerty123123xX An altered diet only helps if there are intestinal or digestive issues along with autism. Just as ABA will not help with constipation or diareah, neither will GF/CF help with autism. They are separate and neither is exclusive to autism. Look up "IMFAR 2011: Dr. Eric Courchesne on the Developmental Neurobiology of Autism" in The Thinking Person's Guide to Autism for the latest research being done. It's fascinating what they've found.

  • Why does it run in families then? Asperger's does.

  • @knowingwhoiam he's lying

  • Why does it run in families then?

  • there's no link between autism and immune dysfunction, gut disorders or environmental influences. If you think there is. Please post your peer reviewed literature indicating so.

  • @bengalslash There's only a rather limited link between "peer reviewed" literature and the real world out there. If you think otherwise, please post some peer reviewed studies to support that view.

  • who ever asked my autistic friends, and myself if we were sick, suffering and in need of a cure? oh i'm sorry, that was the intollerable refrigerator mothers.

  • My son is autistic. He will be 4 in a couple of weeks. He doesn't have any other health problems and didn't get his vaccines until after the most obvious autism characteristics were apparent. He was breastfed nearly exclusively until he was a year old simply because he wasn't interested in anything else and was thriving on it. He actually showed some autie signs from birth so I have to disagree with the statement that all autism is related to bodily health. Unless it's my fault...

  • wwwdotVaccinationCouncildotorg

  • I'm skeptical. Let's say 1 percent of the general population has celiac disease. Then it would be fair to say that roughly 2 percent of the autistic population could have the disease. This doesn't mean gluten is the cause of autism. It's like you're saying all kids have with autism have PKU because a lot of them have autistic-like symptoms when they don't stick to their diet.

  • Comment removed

  • I develop autistic like symptoms with the ingestion of even a molecule of gluten. So shampoos and every thing I use must be GF. I also need a dedicated GF kitchen and can't comfortably allow gluten in my house. If it gets on the handles of the fridge and cabinets, it gets into the food. My guess is that autistic kids will need a completely gluten free environment too.

  • funny i have aspergers ive had gut problems 40 years and high blood preasure and i had a lot of head pain i am also sensitve to bright lights.i am with you on this one

    jeff from the uk

  • so triggered by an immunisation and other circumstances autisms startes as a body-illnes that influences the brain? so we just have to take care of the body and allergies to reach better sozial skills?

  • it's not a disorder! at all! they're not behavioral problems, society is the problem. we have mood problems because we're fed poisons, i have OCD and panic attacks, a lot of which is caused by poor diet. i started taking inositol, that's B8 vitamin, and the change is amazing! also put auties on organic diets of fresh fruit and veggies and rye etc etc and there will be a difference. and no medications or speed! that's poison. a gluten free diet probably works too but i haven't tried it.

  • Cancer , depression , adhd, autism , alopecia , celiac are all increasing . Every single time a new recommended vaccine is added to the list , we see an increase in auto immune disease. This is absolutely undeniable . Vaccines and disease are connected , but in an opposite way as we are told . The more shots you get , the sicker you are .

  • Ignorance is a dangerous thing. The main reasons for the increase is a broadening of the definition of autism and increased surveillance; it absolutely CAN account for the increase. This is why autism diagnoses are more likely in affluent communities and as well as people with neighbors that have it. Studies have been done which used the old diagnostic criteria on modern populations, and they found that the increase virtually disappeared.

  • I THINK THIS GUY GOT HIS IDEAS FROM DR REBBECA CARLEY WHO HAS PROOF OF WHAT CAUSES AUTISM. SHE HAS BEEN TERRIBLY TREATED FOR HER FINDINGS BECAUSE IT IMPLICATES VACCINES AS PART OF THE PROBLEM. LOOK HER UP. SHE HAS CURED MANY AUTISTIC CHILDREN.

  • That's just stupid. People with autism spectrum disorders can access information in a better way and are much more aware today than 30 yeas ago.

It wasn't long ago people, who i.e. couldn't control their movement, were being tortured with long baths, got electric chocks, or even lobotomized.

Of course much more people seek help today ...

  • There's no eppidemic, it's always been here; we've just gotten better at detecting it.

  • As the old saying goes " you are what you eat!"

  • yes,but the average doctor isnt going to waste their time with all that.and if you want anything, you have to ask and go to specialists, jump thorugh hoops.instead of preventive medicine, doctors are taught to deal with symptoms.

  • My son is 3,5-yaer-old and somewhat untypical case. He was never vaccinated, he was breast fed to the age of 2, due to his excema and allergy issues, he never had any milk products, eggs and now is without gluten as well. No ear infections, no diarias. BUT he was born with extremely dry skin, developing excema at 2 months, having colic and major GI issues since then (constipation, smelly poop, gas, extended belly). He also has had enlarge lymf nodes since his birth.

  • My brother has difficult aspergers syndrome.

I hope that people doesn`t think that EVERY autistic child is somekind of genius. That`s not true. It`s not like the movies says.

  • @Piikana doesn't mean your bro is an idiot either, just cuz you can't see his worth!

  • Have you notice that this society dont have a cure for any diseases. For years researchers didnt have a clue, (in their own words) as to the causes of alzheimers. They were looking at the clues but were not interpreting them because they were not applying basic biology. There were many variables Overlooked, as this doctor points out. Now we know exercise sends nutrients oxygen to neurons and reverses the process. Dont condem until

you evaluate if you want cures for your love ones.

  • You sir are an offensive unenlightened idiotic, imbecile who has a poor grasp on not only the history of autism but the current research in regards to autism.

  • amen.

  • A British study of autism in twins found that 60% of identical twins were both autistic, but no non-identical twins both both had autism. The concordance rate increased to 92% v's 10% when milder cases were included.

Since the twins were exposed to the same environment, it rules out the environment as causing most autism cases.

"Bailey, A. et al., 1995. Autism as a strongly genetic disorder: evidence from a British twin study. Psychological Medicine."

  • Well done. That should be the end of all these theories. Of course it won't though, because these people don't believe in evidence or truth. They believe in compelling stories and tangible causes.

  • I have a child on the autistic spectrum disorder. I have tried the gluten free diet... didn't seem to be an issue for him. But that doesn't mean that it isn't the answer for someone else. And he never said that breastfeeding was bad, he actually accented in as a goood thing. There is no rhyme or reason for autism. and it is just a name. Every austic child is different. Every child in this world is different. and just like any other kid, autistic kids react differently to different things

  • Measles vaccination efforts have reaped major public health gains, resulting in a 74% drop in measles deaths between 2000 and 2007 worldwide - a drop of about 90% in the eastern Mediterranean and Africa regions.

In 2007, about 82% of the world's children received one dose of measles vaccine by their first birthday through routine health services, up from 72% in 2000.

  • Measles is a leading cause of death among young children even though a safe and cost-effective vaccine is available to prevent the disease.

In 2007, there were 197 000 measles deaths globally - nearly 540 deaths every day or 22 deaths every hour.

More than 95% of measles deaths occur in low-income countries with weak health infrastructure.

  • American medical Assceation tell me why the aumeish people in the united states have no autistic childern . almunan lead merrcury is what is in the vaccien shout. IF the cure equales 1/65 thats playing russion roulet vacssionate with noise spraies.

  • His numbers are wrong. It wasn't 1 in 3000, it was one in 35,000. And it's actually 1 in 65 today.

  • There is Autism Spectrum Disorders..BiPolar would be the result of a long time condition...I do not feel Bipolar anymore...the label just doesn't fit anymore...it's all related. I look at mine as systemic -whole body...a poisoning of my body...I have been taking a lot more Glutamine now and it seems to be doing more and more...thank god...it's like I had a big hole in my gut that leaked acid into my body....it had done that throughout most of my life ...especially in stressful times....

  • I think it's the wheat.

  • t's caused by the AMOUNT of vaccines required now by our public schools. And many mothers don't breast feed long enough, so the vaccines are too much for the baby's still developing body to handle. MOTHERS BREAST FEED YOUR BABIES, IT IS CRITICAL!

  • I breastfed my boy for 2 years. I am a lactivist. But breastfeeding has nothing to do with autism. This man is a quack. The real truth about autism is that it does not have to be seen as such a tragedy. And BTW, my son is very rarely ill.

  • Being rarely sick is a sign of an over-active immune system disorder. The body's immune system is kicked into high gear because it is overloaded...There is a whole slew of "never gets sick" kids in the autism community. Mine was one of them.

  • Right. So if a kid keds sick often, it's because of his autism and bad immune system, and if a kid gets sick rarely it's because of autism and a bad ("overactive") immune system. Hmmm. I've noticed that many parents of autistic children tend to attribute EVERY characteristic their child has to autism, and then view it as bad, even when it is good. Why is that, I wonder?

  • Until you have experienced what it is like to care for a disabled child you really don't have the right to judge the behaviour of 'many parents of autistic children' do you? We suffer this kind of attitude all the time from other parents who think it would be the simplest thing in the world to do a better job, but they would freak if they even had to live one day in our shoes. I cherish every minute with my lovely son but do resent this attitude from the parents of neuro-typical children.

  • @surfinbernard77 you must understand ignorance to defeat it.

  • Previous women I've been successfully involved with could be described as not having normal mainstream views or social activity/behaviour. My contention is that today's mobility, and opportunity for people - even autistic people, to change locations, is bringing more autistic people together into successful relationships. This I believe (intuitively) must have some significant bearing on the increasing number of identified autism cases today. It's more complex than that - but no room here!

  • ... Both sides of my parents' families came from different towns/cities. My partner, Liz, scored 25 on the Autistic Quotient test, and I suspect her father (now deceased) of having had Asperger's syndrome and her mother of having bipolar disorder. Liz has been diagnosed with depression. Her 70 year old uncle (Liz is 20 years older than I) has more connected computer equipment in his house than I do (and I have some serious equipment). Is this all conincidence? Maybe?

  • I agree with some of the ideas and approaches represented here. However I cannot engage properly when titles are used such as: "Why current thinking about Autism is completely wrong" (COMPLETELY!!!) I'm not diagnosed yet but I'm sure I have Asperger's. I've identified definite Autism on my father's side (uncle), and probable on my mother's side (Grandmother). Other family members have autistic traits and/or commonly associated comorbid conditions. ...

  • My understanding of Autism, from personal triumphs, is that it is a result of a key change in attitude towards one's surroundings. The attitude shift is an ability to prevent negative actions of others by hiding negative and positive emotions from their knowledge. The detoxification will allow the brain to reduce the chemical offsets which are needed to maintain this condition, however the ability to control emotions remain with the individual.

  • my brother is autistic and he has extremely soft skin, and his belly isn't bloated..and don't everyone's crap stink?

  • "doesn't" not "don't"

  • wow... I hope my doctors don't come from his med school.

  • this moron whats to cure autism. i thought we should have equal rights, but i think i was wrong on this.though last time i checked discrimination is aginsted the law!

  • "wants" not "whats"

  • I was born with it.

  • My son's behavior has changed drastically since taking him off gluten and dairy. After 3 days off dairy his vocabulary is growing quickly and he's not running around, or seeking sensory in any form (pulling books off shelves, jumping from high places, throwing mindlessly). He focuses so well and can sit in restaurants without scrambling to get out of his chair. This diet has not been successful for everyone, but please try it, you have so much to gain if it works. This sums up my son so well

  • I am autistic ("different") since the day of my birth, so explain me that!

  • Youtube moved my comment and now it makes no sense... the line of support was NOT for the nonsense that is this video; the research is on the side of Harkhoost and Serge165:
What people don't get, is that Autism has been around forever, and it always will be, I have the genes of Autism in my every cell and should i ever have children, the genes will be passed on , even if they're not aspie, so you'll never get rid of us, Doctors.
• Leeches! Leeches are the cure for autism!

Crush a frog and read the bible every four hours and your evil spirits will be gone!

Please take your quack science off of Youtube. You're poisoning minds.

    - and autistic who doesn't want to be "cured"

  • and what planet are are you from

  • I have invested over 1000 hours in researching Autism and this doctor's explanations are in total agreement of what I have learned and experienced with my grandson in recovering him from Autism caused by VACCINES. By the many IDIOTIC comments here it is apparent that people do not want to hear the TRUTH. Jesus Christ was crucified for speaking the truth, as are so many others today who attempt to teach the truth to this generation of "Sheep Being Led to the Slaughter" by the Medical System.

  • Funny thing, grandma, is that not one autistic adult or professional whom they believe to know their anus from their auditory canal about autism agrees with you.

The Jesus Christ comparison is apt, but not for the reason you think. Jesus, whose mere existence is unsupported outside of the gospels, also called for the genocide or segregation of non-Jews and others he disliked. Come to my house with your "cure" and I will stick your bible where the sun does not shine, one page at a time.

  • You tell 'em, Aspie!

  • whats wrong with the side of his face? I think hes on heavy painkillers for that tooth.

  • Try reading Navigating throught Autism, a different concept

  • I'm an autistic.

And since I was never vaccinated with anything really, I think it MUST be kryptonite.

Conspiracy by marvel I tell ya.

  • @ischlopischlo believe it or not there are more sources of mercury than just vaccines

  • Dear Doctor,

Your hypothesis is partially correct, but unfortunately also partially incorrect. Yes, there is an associated body issue with autism but it is caused by the difference in the brain and NOT the other way around. I would gladly explain. If you wish to read the full explanation, please contact me through my YouTube page. Thank you.

  • Thank you so much for this excellent explanation of some of the reasons and triggers for autism. My son was diagnosed 6months ago and I have tried some of these treatment and have had tremendous results. I can't understand why there are all these negative comments on this blog. Everything you have stated is absolutely true. People should try some of the treatments and see how curing the gut can have such a positive effect on the brain. My son is improving every day and feels so much better.

  • I wonder how many people will buy this joke.If this movie wasnt filled with the site-refferences,it would have looked more realistic. The reason why there is a increase of people diagnosed as autistic,is because nowadays we live in a'perfect society'.Everyone is chasing this model of being socially accepted.Anyone who doesnt fit the picture is stamped with a mental illness and put on meds. Its all about the money, look at how much the farma-industries(and this guy)make thanks to all these diagnoses

  • How about trying to use research to see if autism's linked it to Celiac disease's genes...that illness has increased also, and going gluten-free and often casein-free is needed to control the gut function!

  • What Doctor Hyman is talking about is the "full body disorder" model of autism. It is possible that some cases of autism can be explained by this model.

But it ignores the many cases of autism in which the child suffers cognitive and social impairments but is otherwise perfectly healthy, and does not suffer from leaky gut syndrome or trouble with natural body opiates.

There is an incredibly amount of disinformation on youtube about vaccines and autism. Vaccines do not cause autism.

  • That's right. It's incredibly hard to find an honest account of current research here. Most of the youtube videos are either emotional appeals (like Jenny McCarthy) or people with something to sell (like this guy).

  • wow - 2 people who know that all this autism/vaccination talk is pure bs. i was beginning to wonder.

also, this salesmen kills his 9 minute pitch between :54 and :59.

  • If your child has autism / mercury poisoning do the following... Grind 4 coriander leaves in a coffee grinder, add pressed orange juice and drink. Try not to cook coriander if you are treating mercury poisoning / autism. Once your child is free and healthy never eat sea foods as they all contain mercury. However you need omega oils so do the following... Grind a tea spoon full of flax seeds in your coffee grinder every day, add pressed orange juice and drink.

  • No! No! No! If your child has autism drill a hole in there head to let out all the bad spirits.

  • Well thought out, executed and useful. I have eperienced autism, and have been studying it for many years. This man has an extremely reasonable approach. I am going to use his video as a source. I must say I am also extremely thankful for any doctors such as this one that will truly extend hope and work with the patient, body, and family. Thank You!

  • I think that you ought to take this video off now considering the results of recent scientific studies.

  • Im tired of Doctors talking about Autism, it is NOT a dicease, it is a handicap. Some children are going through hell, because the parents and their doctors, want to cure their autism. Many new programs for helping autism, is only there because the parents won't accept their childs handicap. On my sons school, some are on a NON-gluten diet. They have gotten better, but they are not cured. My son is on a 2 year Scandinavian program, denying him gluten, wheat and soya. It has had NO effect.

  • What people don't get, is that Autism has been around forever, and it always will be, I have the genes of Autism in my every cell and should i ever have children, the genes will be passed on , even if they're not aspie, so you'll never get rid of us, Doctors.

  • As an academic (mathematics), and HF Autistic volunteer for the Cambridge University Autism project - without the set of symptoms and preconditions alleged by this alleged medical doctor - allow me to point out that the science is actually on your side. The weakly alleged information in this video is rather harshly distanced from the medical department, with whom I have been liaising for years.

  • I believe this 100%, I saw on the Health channel on Cable, how a Mothers son was "misdignost" with Autistm, but instead he was allergic to Gluten. This program however never said, that most case of Autism is isn't autism. This makes sense.

  • Thank you for sharing the truth about autism, but you are going to get in trouble. Curing disease is not allowed here in America. If you start curing diseases instead of treating the symptoms for the rest of the patients life, then you are are going to hurt corporate profits and be labeled a quack. A quack may cure diseases, but being labeled one will ruin your career. I don't want to discourage you from helping people, but you better watch your back if you want to keep helping others.

  • I'll tell you what, David. Since you think a cure is automatically heroic and something worth fighting for, why not go to somewhere like South Africa, find the poorest black neighbourhood you can find, and offer them a cure for being black? Sure, it might be coming a couple of decades too late to fix their problem with oppression at the hands of the Apartheid system, but I am sure they will jump at the chance to look just like the people who used to be able to kill them without due process!

  • oh my looks like this youtube user who did this video really needs to do his research i'm not gonna say anything except wow someone didn't do there research...

  • you might want to look into some punctuation and grammar.

  • your right side mouth has a pooch

  • I couldn't even pay attention to what you were saying because I was watching that awful repetitive motion of your hands the whole damn time.

  • I guess the person that uploaded this video decided to only allow comments that agree with hers? Oh well, that's the directors perogative. Unfortunate, that some very well and thoughtful comments were erased. I guess I'll need to file a complaint charge with the good docs medical board for advertising false promises outside his area of expertise as well as to the media that this doc consults for. Only doc I know that has a full time pr firm.

  • I don't think we should start blaming and jumping to conclusions on what causes autism until further study and research is performed, which unfortuntely, won't be for a long time, thanks to Congress. Ugh!

  • Oh wait, I think I hear 5 million lead painted toys arriving from China. YEAH!!

That will improve our national IQ.

  • We are in the beginnings of the environmental holacaust. I know you all were hoping for some tremendous nuclear expolsion or alien invasion. Sorry, but if we don't do something to clean up this mess, ours will be a slow degeneration of the human brain and body. It doesn't sound like a blaze of glory to me. We will either be extinct, or too dumb to stand up for our own interests. How does that sound? Glorious HUH?

  • We are being dumbed down intentionally and tricked into killing ourselves. Google the book on pdf titled The Dumbing Down of America and find YouTube's videos on Dumbing Down the World or anything related to the education system today. We are under attack, but already too dumbed down to recognize it. We are expected to blame ourselves for our stupidity and poor health, but we are only guilty of trusting expert opinion. We need to stop doing that, check facts and start taking care of ourselves

  • Great to see another doc who can think for himself. Your one of a few.

  • wow! its great to see a DR who has a holistic approach at looking at things.

  • Vaccines do cause autism...

  • HOORAY! thank goodness for doctors like you that have the BALLS to tell the truth. Because of this school of thought we can cure our children and save the unborn.

  • Doctors that have the balls to tell the truth, like Prof. Anthony Attwood, are too busy treating autistic children (and adults like me) for the short and long term effects of abuse and rejection by charlatans such as this "doctor" and parents who believe what he says.

    Bravo!

  • Thanks for 'bothering' to speak about autism in a new light... I happen to have an autistic son

  • Your son will be better served if you fight to have charlatans like this one made accountable for medical fraud.

Being one of the lucky ones who gets to see someone who knows their butt from their ear about autism, I think about what the children of people who support this quack must be going through, and it makes me mad enough that I have to wonder why I am still alive.

  • Why current thinking about Autism is completely wrong, indeed

  • Yes..it is true blanket-term-diagnosis of autism wouldnt stand water when kids have innumerable allergies & biochemical disorders plaguing them-keep up the good work of open-mindedness in diagnosis-thanks-
