  • Chief Hoff instructed my first live burn house training fire while on duty 20 years ago and he left an immediate and long lasting impression with me. I wish him the best of days to come.

  • Well Done CFD! Watching this video started pretty superficial with me paying half attention and then it gradually dug deep inside me and the next thing I realized I couldn't stop watching, I was almost in tears at times and thinking of my own close calls. Thanks for sharing with the world. I'll make sure to pass this on to all the firefighters on my department.

  • This is really a great video. Watched with my wife. I've forwarded it to our department, and volunteers. Hope all the guys and girls will pick this message up!

  • strange accent in illinois.

  • @TheMrAlexrj its not an illinois accent, it is litterally only in chicago and about a 25 mile radius surrounding. Everyone else in the state doesn't sound much like this.

  • @WIFire10 cool, thanks for the answer.

sometimes it's not good to see the whole

    by the part.

  • strange accent in illinois.

  • sad though.

  • huh?

oh, I actually read "Chicago Fire Department - Everyone Goes Homo".

    This makes more sense :)

  • City of Riverside Fire in California station 2 watched this as a crew and enjoyed it and really took to heart the message they were trying to get out.

  • It starts the night before.. I'll go in the fire house tomorrow!

They teached us: "An injured firefighter can't save no one"

    Very good video.

  • This is an excellent video from the Chicago Fire Department! I strongly recommend this video to all firefighters, as well as their families.

  • This is an excellent video that I would like to show to my small volunteer fire department. Not much on computer technology, but was wondering if there is a way I can download this to my laptop to show at one of our meetings. Or maybe somewhere we can purchase a DVD. We have no internet at our fire station. Tks again for your video.

  • This is one of the greatest fire department videos i have ever seen.

  • those who talk shit about this video and talking shit about fireman couldnt handle one 24 hour shift on a busy company. try the west side or Englewood in chicago, try Detroit on Devil's night, the Bronx or Harlem in NY. hell Detroits fire companies average 4-7 fires per shift on and around Devil's night. sometime that on a regular day during the year. sure there are tons of very dangerous jobs and every trade produces duty deaths. well tell your foundations and unions to put out a fucking video!

  • This video should be shown to Fire Departments everywhere

  • Thanks for sharing this video... I shared it with our Chiefs.. I am sure they guys at our stations would love to see this... Great video thanks again.

  • @speedshop. I said I took it back. I was a little reactionary after learning today a very close friend was killed. His eighteen wheeler went down a Colorado mountainside after her suffered a massive heart attack. There is courage, dedication and incredible risk all around...outside fire houses as well as inside. Be safe.

  • @daveplem Yes, we as firefighters are passionate about our work. But, the comments you made are as degrading as saying, "check out the Fallen Cake Makers Association". This video by the Chicago FD was to hopefully help prevent other LOD's within other FD's across the nation through education and learning. You obviously have no clue of what dedication and courage it takes to be a firefighter.

  • There isn't anyone more willing to place his life on the line for you more than a U.S Soldier, Firefighter, EMS or Police Officer except Jesus Christ himself.

  • ...wow...

  • Well Done. Fire is a monster, one that grows and changes, there are unknowns, in fires, hidden propane bottles, ammunition, gases that are more toxic than anyone could imagine, though one of the largest dangers a Fire Dept., faces is TRAFFIC, People playing their music too load, not paying attention, not moving out of the way, they do this to Police and Paramedics. Please think about this, when you're driving, these men and women may have to save your life one day, don't put theirs in jeoprody.

  • AWESOME VIDEO, IS THERE A WAY TO SAVE THIS VIDEO ON A LAPTOP SO IT CAN BE WATHCED WHENEVER, WITHOUT YOUTUBE? IF SO PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW, A LITTLE SLOW ON TIMES HERE. THANKS TO CHICAGO FIRE FOR PUTTING THIS TOGETHER!!!

  • I watched it and it made me ask myself what I can do to commit to what I'm going to do to help make sure that everyone goes home from their shift at my department. I may not be able to fix every problem, but how can you watch this and not think," I have to do something real in my own service."

  • It starts out slow. GET THROUGH IT, and watch the whole thing. It's really worth your time. You'll learn something.

  • Albemarle Fire Department like's this. Every depatment needs to watch. ASAP

  • This is really a eye opener! Everyone need to see before it's to late

  • Very good video. This video should be watched by all fire depts, volunteer and paid. This could be a life changing video for firefighters, safety is always first and lots of us forget that. We have got to practice Safety more than anything cause thats what brings everybody home. Remember where your seatbelts

  • Wow I am certianly going to show this to all my fellow firefighters @ my station

    East Machias Fire Department

    East Machais, Maine

  • Wow... how powerful. My guys are going to watch this tomorrow.

  • Well done. Basic, but honest. We all know this, yet we make decisions to not use all available PPE all the time, we don´t call maydays and we don´t stay in proper health. I hope this film has an impact and gets us thinking a little bit more, and more than anything gets us to drive more safely and gets a few more firemen in the gym and eating better. A huge thanks to those who admitted their mistakes. That´s not an easy thing to do. We´ll all agree with the film, but how many of us will change?

  • Rensselaer Indiana Vol Fire Dept- My dad is the capt. on the RVFD and my Uncle is the Chief of RVFD and our old Chief showed 5 or 6 of our guys this and I'm trying to get on the Dept myself as an Intern and this video really made me think is this really what I want to do. Thank You Chicago Fire Dept. good job and stay safe this year.

  • Excellent video that will save lives. Chicago Fire Department- well done!

    HCFR Tampa, FL

  • This video will be viewed by all of our members at training this evening. Even with 22+ years in as a volunteer the message here is of critical importance to all of us that answer the call. The message that there is no routine call is one that needs to always be in the forefront of all members minds when rolling out the doors be it to an alarm sounding or a fully involved structure.

  • A powerful film, but I think the most important words for fire service leaders are in the beginning, "What five things are you going to do on your next shift to assure the safety of your people?"

  • Good work, I will make sure I pass this on so that everyone hears the message and to help make sure EVERYONE GOSE HOME.. God bless and be safe in the windy city. Lt. Freund Engine Co. 23....

  • 14 Years as a Volunteer, may your family never have to experience a final page or final alarm. Thanks for everything that each and everyone of you do when you go to work.

  • WOW ... 21 years in the service and probably the best video i have seen ... right to the heart... just shared it to everyone at my station ... thank you for sharing your story and message with us all... stay safe brothers and sisters ... Deputy Chief Tim MacNeil.. Lantz Fire Department .. Nova Scotia Canada.

  • A very moving video that was well edited. Great information! Thank you to the members of the Chicago Fire Department past and present for sharing your story. Your courage to share the stories of when you were not at your best truly raise the bar. We can only hope that as public safety personnel come to view this powerful message they understand it in its most basic interpretation. Safety does matter if you want to go home at the end of your shift. God Bless. D. Viloria

  • This video is the only video that has ever brought tears to my eyes. Im only a teen but i do know alot of people who are firefighters and who puts their life on the line for people who they dont know. They do this because its their passion to help others its what they live for. This video can change everybodys point of view on the men and women who serve as firefighters. In my opinion fire fighters are in my top five of the most bravest people in the world. To all firefighters thank you!!!!!

  • Nice job Chicago Fire Dept. I'm gonna make sure our department sees this. Great directing Rob Maloney. Nice use of lighting for your backgrounds.

  • WOW, this should be MANDATORY viewing for everyone in this job. Train like you fight and you will fight like you train... Stay safe and everyone goes home.

  • Great Job!

  • Where is Thunder at? YAGB

  • Which three douches disliked this video? Share with your crew, great stuff here!

  • This video contains some powerful lessons on situational awareness.

For more, please consider visiting: Situational Awareness Matters!

  • I watched the entire video to try to find 402THUNDER402

  • @xProfeshCamperx LOL not in Chicago

  • Fantastic work, thanks! This should be shared with everyone on the job. Be safe.

  • Post, repost, watch at your next shift, training meeting, drill night etc.....TY to CFD and NFFF for making this video

  • Yeah, but have you seen the Battalion Series..

  • I love this line...

The day you stop learning is the day you need to retire...TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN

  • I sure am glad to see this posted back up here for all to see.

  • Outstanding production. Stay safe my Brothers & Sisters.

  • Amazing! Great job CFD! Puts a lot of things into perspective. Doesn't matter if you are paid, or volunteer. The message is still the same. EVERYONE GOES HOME!

  • Too often you see firefighters running in the scene, rushing, not being careful, not wearing PPE, not using a seatbelt, not making sure that tools are operated safely.

Firefighting is dangerous enough as it is, without hotheads ignoring safety to make it even worse. Firefighters, play safe and do your job with honor!

I might be a young firefighter, but the idea of safe operations is hacked deep into my head. I believe we can all work safely when we do our job!

  • I am speechless.....this video sums it up......this is what you see or hear on T.V. shows or movies that glorify FF's......they truily are heroes....and they do mistakes...in which they have learn from as told to us so we can also learn...this video w/o a doubt deserves ba thumbs up

  • great video its real needs to be shown to every training class

for over 30 yrs i have trained and preached safety

it needs to be sen by every proby and vet

my heart goes out to all brothers who gave all

i always told my classes the first job is to get home

  • Awesome Video Every paid and vol firefighter in the country needs to watch this and take the advice of these brave men and women. I know how hard it is to have the Chief knock on your door with 2 Highway Patrolman to tell you that your loved one didn't make it to the call.Buckle Up and Be Safe Always

  • What a bunch of BS , My father gave 40 years to the CFD lost his leg in the line of duty , they forgot all about him & his family , So again WHAT A BUNCH OF BS !!!

  • Awesome. Absolutely awesome.

  • I just watched and WOW! I feel this should be watched by each & every Firefighter working in Fire Protection of the important lessons this YouTube teaches. My hats off to the CFD & NFFF for producing this. A job well done, job well done. Most Important Thing Is We All Go Home...Most Important Thing Is We All Go Home...

  • i'm a firefighter and i admit i never wear my seatbelt.... i'm a idiot, i'm gonna change that starting tomorrow

  • AWESOME JOB!!

  • Thumbs up if the secret list brought you here! Thanks CFD and all of you members past and present for sharing these stories. I know i learned a lot watching it and will think twice about not fastening my seatbelt on runs.

  • Thank you to the CFD, NFFF and Rob Maloney for making this amazing documentary piece. Most importantly thank you to the members of the CFD and the family members of fallen firefighters who shared their gripping experiences with the rest of us. Every person in the fire service from the spur to the tip on the ladder should be required to watch this video. This is one to throw in the right hip pocket to pull out everytime we get complacent with driving, PPE or training. Thank you and Godspeed.

  • Outstanding job. This video should hit home for every single firefighter in the country and worldwide. And don't think for one minute that just because it was by the Chicago Fire Department, that it won't happen to you. It can happen to anyone one of us, full-time, part-time, or VOLUNTEER!!! Please, take this information and use it in your departments. The life you could be saving could be yours or your fellow department member. EVERYONE GOES HOME!!!

  • This video should touch home with every firefighter in the world, If you feel it can't happen to you, try again. Our company has only one LODD and that is to many. Thank you to those who shared their stories and continue to be safe out there.

  • Great video. Stay safe. I will make sure my folks see it!

  • Thanks CFD for this video I am going to make sure all of my firefighters & officers see this

  • This is a great video, outstanding job putting it together

  • What a fantastic video. There is so much to learn from the past. Whether it is long ago or recent. Every experience is a lesson learned. Thanks for saying what needs to be said.

  • The content stretches further than just fire departments as all of us can embrace these same concepts be it driving in our car, at work, at home, in a hotel overnight for business, or simply individually.

  • Excellent messages within this video. Thank you CFD & NFFF for a video well done. Every department in every city and town should be mandated to STOP watch and listen to our brothers and sisters in this video. Stay safe and God Bless.

  • THANK YOU to the CFD & EGH for sharing this video. God Bless brothers.

  • Excellent Job CFD and NFFF!

  • Excellent video. Every Firefighter should watch this entire video! Thanks to the Chicago Fire Department and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation for making this happen.

  • This is an excellent video that I encourage all members to watch...and learn. Thanks to the NFFF for sharing...it is very much appreciated!
