That style of sabre is what I most commonly see Yang stylists using. I've read up on it on swordforum, but nobody I've read knows the origin this style blade and why it is used in Yang. As a military instructor, Yang Lu-tang would have used most likely a liuyedao or yinmaodao.
That's a Kung Fu sword. Never seen Tai Chi with a Kung Fu sword... I do mostly freestyle sword forms, taking bits and pieces of other forms and making it a part of my own. I usually use a shinai, bokken, wood tai chi sword/twin tai chi swords, katana or ninja sword.
Part of it is due to the style he's using(unfortunately the title doesn't have this information). Each style has differences that make it stand out- for example-Yang is easy to tell because of the deeper stances and evenly flowing movements. I don't think this is Yang btw. Maybe Chen or Wu?
...his movement is a bit rigid, not much but it is...maybe his age has a factor? also have you ever done a set? its fairly difficult to keep an even pace maintained
you people are all pathetic even if u are chiniese you still can't comprehend your own ancestral style it goes deeper than movements it's the feeling of being human beyond human a full understanding of one u people still need training of oneself
Well, he did hunch/lean forward a little much when I think he should have been bending his knees and lowering his stance/center of gravity. I'm Chinese, btw.
So graceful and yet so utterly deadly.

Nice.. the yang family use this style dao also. Its no surprise that the Wu school uses the same dao after all the Yang and Wu are well connected.

His form is a little choppy. And his legs are weak.
cowdude666 5 years ago
he's at least in his mid-seventies. I wish my legs were that "weak" when I'm that old.

One of the best performances I've ever seen!
The lean is part of the style.
(JobeX is apparently a true taiji sword expert! :-))

why do you say so? Because you found faults in his movements? Because he's old? Or what?
