thankyou for vid, and playing something that does't sound like nu-metal shit, so do you like em? and if yes or no,could you tell me why?I've heard they are suppose to be really bright, but from all the vids i haven't really heard that. I like a lot of older music so whats considered to bright today doesn't even register with me much.
painkiller is definitely a great sounding pickup and suit more to down-tuned stuff.. like drop C and lower.. due to its lack of bottom end it does not get muffled and stays clear and precise/tigh/fast tracking.. I've only used a nailbomb in my ooold RG470 and it was OK, but nothing special.. it depends on the woods/height of the PUP and amp rather than the pickup itself.. each of them may sound so differently in different setups/guitars/woods..
Hey guys, I just sold my PainKiller cause it sucked shit compared to the Sh6 Duncan Distortion. But would REALLY love to hear the ceramic Nailbomb pls into a Marshall!!!!
@slayerofgodz Its in an all Brazilian Mahogany american Dean V with an Ebony Frett board, 24 fretts, that has been reprayed and customeized (24 fretts) with Les Paul custome styled binding, played through TSL 100 (with Power amp Mod to make more stable, you probably know about the TSL shitty circuit boards)
@slayerofgodz It is a original (but resprayed) 79 Dean V, all mahogany with ebony frettboard. The Pain Killer has this hollow sounding low mids, like I was playing through a semi acoustic....it fucken shited me to no end. I went straight back to the Sh6.
@TheTyrantRaptor well...the painkiller a little bit lacks lows!i own Either a painkiller in my dellinger and sh6 in my soloist!Well different sound for different guitar and PU!Keep in mind the painkiller rules on heavy detunings!On standard tuning isn't so good and CLEAR!!!
@robertkbs Aewsome mate, thanks for the info. Since I play Thrash Metal, we only detune half a step, so the Painkiller does cut it compared to the SH6.Have your tried an Aftermath or ceramic Warpig compared to the Sh6???
@TheTyrantRaptor You're welcome ;)Painkiller is built for modern styles and like Tim says,its sound like an EMG 81 but with lot of dynamics and clarity.Sh6 is greeeat Pickup, I love IT, and even thought is fuller in lows frequency, I prefer the PK because sh6 loses lot of clarity to my hear when you crush the gain insane while Dellinger with PK is ALWAYS clear and aggressive Like a fuckin’beast Skull crusher!
Don't forget, your sound is made, above all,by your amp and speaker, which one youuse?
@TheTyrantRaptor More over...No i didnt try the Cpig, is for brutal styles and forget with it the soloings, and aftermath, more than painkiller is for modern style, i think!
Broderick of Megadeth once used the Miracle Man,and i'm thinking to swap my Sh6 in my soloist for a more versatilty sounds with cleans an Holy Diver!Take a look to the new site of bareknuckle!is very helpfull.
@movemindband No joke mate. The PainKiller is very hollow sounding compared to the Sh6. And the Sh6 isnt perfect either, its a little too twangy at times, but after using the Parrallel Axis PA TB2 distortion on the last album, which lacks too much dynamics being similar to an EMG 81 but with more output and chunk, the slight 'twang' just means that the Sh6 has alot of dynamics which helps with clarity on overdrive. I play Thrash Metal, and pickups have been a circus for me for the last 15 years
@TheTyrantRaptor Really? I have a Duncan Custom in my bridge. I just think SDs kind of suck. Thinking of either putting EMG 81/85 in my SG, an Iommi in the bridge to compliment the one in the neck, or a Bare Knuckle for the bridge and still keep Iommi in the neck.
@TheTyrantRaptor That really depends on what you are going for, so It is a matter of preference. When you had your guitar refinished, what method was done for the refinish? Nitro? Poly?
Just ordered some nailbombs for my 68 lp custom. how are cleans and blues rock stuff, i got the nailbombs because it said most organic and versatile, what do you think
@robertkbs, I have a Nailbomb and a Rebel Yell set. The Rebel Yells are in a Les Paul which is probably my favorite guitar-pickup combo ever. The Nailbomb (I have a bridge and trilogy suite neck and middle) is also exceptionally good. They're also great in Les Pauls but mine is in a alder body ESP mirage custom which makes it sound darker. Both have fantastic harmonics.
I'm also interested in the Painkiller for another guitar, but if I had to choose between the two I'd pick the Nailbomb.
@DoomBuggi Ive never had my guitars refinished. They're nitro

ceramic nailbomb or duncan custom sh-5? gary uses sh-5 so i assume its good for thrash/death metal which is what i play someone reply back please!
FirePower3006 9 months ago
@FirePower3006 I have used the SH-5 to play death/trash/doom/prog in C#.
Over all, its one of two of my favorite Duncans. However, I am ordering a set of Bare Knuckle Nailbomb (Ceramic Bridge) for my Les Paul.

@TheTyrantRaptor I found the sh-6 to be a bit too fizzy for my taste. Then again, I like a tight clean distortion, and well defined notes.

@slayerofgodz
Any specific reasons why? I'm trying to decide between getting a set of painkillers, nailbombs, or warpigs.
