What makes this goal the best ever, is the fact that it was scored in the dying minutes of a game liverpool were winning 6-0. It doesn't show it in this clip, but Terry mac clears the ball near post from a spurs corner before running the length of the pitch to meet that cross. If only modern day footballers had that desire and commitment!
"We had Heighway on the wing....." Whenever someone sees this goal for the first time their response is always a coarse rhyme with the expression "CLUCK-ING BELL!"
Ah the good old days when Liverpool used to play with wingers. Not any old wingers, but wingers who would stay on the wing and put first time crosses in the box.
Keegan, Toshack, McDermott, Clemence, Phil Neal, and the rest of the lads -what a squad! WE WILL CRUSH TOTTENHAM AT ANFIELD -JUST YOU WAIT! LIVERPOOL WILL WIN THE LEAGUE! SCUM UTD IN 5TH HEHE
...this needs to be shown from the beginning...so you can see Terry Mac defending in his own 6 yard box...before makin that run into the oppositions area....
Brings back memories! Spurs at that time had just signed Ricky Villa and Ossie Ardiles! Maybe one day when does Sir Alex call it a day, the 'pool will be as good as they were in the 1970s-1980s
i was at that game and witnessed what i believe was the finest liverpool team ever. We were clapping them all the way through the match, it was absolute class from start to finish...BRILLIANT !!
Gerald sindstadt did. It was in the news of the world. Quite a few years ago now! Just type in 'Gerald sindstadt caught' in to google if you dont believe me lol
Paul Rubens, the creator of the character Pee Wee was caught acting errrr... lewdly in a adult cinema and his career was damaged as a result - although he never caught on over here he was huge in the states.
Gerald Sinstadt (the football commentator) got into the same bother as Pee Wee Herman/Paul Reubens.
Great goal. It's the cross that makes it. What a cross!! Running at full pelt and hitting it first time, without breaking stride and then finding Terry Macs' head without HIM having to break stride either. Pure class!!!
great passing great goal! What makes me laugh is steve highway who brilliantly passed the ball first time just walked away when McDermott scored as if it was ment to be. No posing there like modern day (overpayed) players.
The glory days for Liverpool before Hansen and co, brought negativity to the club..Keep ball football was not and never will be attractive..that's why the Germans played it...effective but Boring...Terry Mac....he could play but was just a cog...Remember Super-Sub...Fairclough.....
what a goal.i was standing in the middle of the kop and watched it unfold. i could see it coming and i held my breath from the moment johnson passed to heighway [not too long as it turned out]. i was just willing mcdermott to get there. some say it came from a spurs corner kick and that mcdermott not only cleared off the line but was the last livepool player out of the 18 yard box. i hope this is true but i dont recall. thanks again. up the reds.
Terry is in twitter now as terrymc777

You could ask every winger currently in the Premiership to replicate that cross by Heighway, and I doubt any of them could do it.
