I didn't know that the center of the milky way contained a black hole. The center of the milky way looks like it contains a bright light, like a super sun. I don't know much about astronomy but I always thought black holes were dark. And why isnt that gigantic black hole sucking us towards it?
@youontwantnonnadis From what little I know of astronomy, I think I can answer your questions:
Black holes are pretty much a point in space, so compared to the bulge in the center, the black hole is very small! Also, black holes have only as much gravitational pull as their mass allows. Granted the black hole in the center of the galaxy is supposedly supermassive, its gravitational effect on us is probably enough to keep us rotating around the center of the galaxy, but we won't be pulled in.

@proboy369 It's sometimes visible in Death Valley, and Paranal Mountain. I believe in Hawaii as well. There are other places but I'm not going to list them all. But where ever you are you need almost no light pollution, even the moon causes light pollution when it's not a new moon.

So, who can tell what are we, looking from solar system perspective? ...from our galaxy perspective? ........from our universe perspective????? :) we are nothing! absolutely NOTHING! :))) ..some bacteria witch adapts to live on some more than a little dot in the universe. @Neimis why fight? fighting is stupid, serving mainly to increase the military budget, wars are basically there to make money for certain organisations, the use of injustice or 'terror' is the main manipulation employed to motivate people/soldiers into fighting benefiting arms dealers etc... but why work? and why need money? as part of a controlled social structure for advancement. Without work or money no one would fund or manufacture items like telescopes, microscopes & particle accelerators.

Most of the best discoveries don't just rely on physics. The people were usually very intitive and creative and had an idea of how things worked before they proved it by scientific theories. Religion is quite a broad word, as usually used to control the masses, but I think the Old Testament was based on the Sumerian texts about aliens, and Christianity, Buddhism and Hinduism are based on universal spirituality.

The large number of older stars orbiting relatively close to the black whole make up most of that large bulge of light we see in the centre.
A black whole it'self cannot be directly seen, but nearby matter heated up from spinning around it so fast around it (due to it's massive gravity) can make it appear immensely bright in some galaxies.

As an agnostic, I niether support nor oppose the religious aspect. (I'll believe it when I see it, you know the drill) The thing that intrigues me is the concept of "nothing". What was there before the big bang? Nothing? What lies beyond the boundaries of the cosmos, of existence itself? Nothing?
Perhaps a clear understanding of "nothing" would lead to an understanding of everything...... Including the "God" question.

I think it would be monotone (if I spelled that right :x) to think that far away the universe is exactly the same as here. Imagine, if we discovered everything around our earth and space phenomenons, than we would know the whole universe. I don't truly believe that every planet and "alien" life depends on air, or water. If space is infinte, who knows what exists.
