This the two layer bridge over The Mighty River Brahmaputra as you enter the city of Guwahati. The train line is below the road traffic layer and the bridge is around 1 km in length. This is one of the narrowest part of Bramhaputra. There is another bridge which is around 3 km long and another further long ~4-5 km is under construction.
This is also the place where the famous battle of SARAIGHAT was fought between the rulers of Assam and the Moghuls. Moghuls though large in numbers tasted bitter defeat in a kind of warfare in the waters of Brahmaputra. After the defeat the Moghuls never dared to set foot in the entire region.
