The Superformance is not a kit car it is built in South Africa, and like the original Cobra that Carol Shelby brought here from England the car has no Motor or Trans so it would not be restricted by all the DOT rules. A Superformance MKIII Cobra is registered as a 1966 Cobra in most states and in the Carol Shelby Registry. The only reproduction that is, and it is the most like the original Cobra. Carol Shelby buys many of these cars with some changes and sold as an continuation Cobra.
Hey you like the factory five kit. That's OK. I have built cars of one kind or another all of my life and prefer the Superformance because it is not a kit car, and comes complete minus motor, and transmission. Put a Roush 427 windsor with 550 HP and a 5 speed Tremec Trans, and I am satisfied. Looks more like the real car than any others and it's made of strong fiberglass and beautifully finished. it is registered as a 1966 Shelby Cobra Recreation with shelby numbers. Thanks....
id rather have a kit car, that way you can actually drive it fast instead of a rare original that sits in your garage
