China could never beat the American Empire in a war. This is why they teamed up with Russia to form the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation) in 2001. The SCO is a military alliance similar to the NATO. Iran & Pakistan asked China in 2006 if they could join, but China denied them & put them on a waiting list to avoid a war w/ the US. What is wrong with profit from space mining? We are a long way from doing that as there is no way to bring back any amount of material that would be profitable. it cost $10,000 a pound in the space shuttle to send it and cargo to orbit. You might have heard the story when the U.S. Navy got its ass handed to them on numerous wargames. Even Australia's old Collins-class boats successfully penetrated our carrier battle group, attacked, and got away.
Submarines are the great equalizer in naval strategy. Batteries are not the hindrance they once were.

First of all, China and Russia will not join forces, China didn't back Russia with Georgia. India is alltogether independent, as they have stated often. America may win an open war with Russia, but not against any other major power, Europe included. Is extremism such a great deal? America lost a lot of people at 9/11, but after that? Nuclear powered engines were a concept in the 50's.If Ideally, it could achieve 3/4 the speed of light.
Power would need to be nuclear, however, Nasa is developing a ION engine that is even faster than a the nuclear powered concept.
The problem with space exploration is humans are weak and require many elements for survival.Human objects have been flying around space for decades.

Chilling video, but if this was the case, then missiles can be launched into space by Russia and China to take out aggressor satellites. The concept of the moon-earth well is intriguing, but I am guessing that China-Russia-India and possibly Iran and North Korea alliance will place these countries in the lead to conquer space. China could never beat the American Empire in a war. This is why they teamed up with Russia to form the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation) in 2001. The SCO is a military alliance similar to the NATO. Iran & Pakistan asked China in 2006 if they could join, but China denied them & put them on a waiting list to avoid a war w/ the US. The American Empire includes virtually all of N. & S. America, Europe, the Pacific, much of E. Asia, & we are currently taking over the Middle East. TRUTH.

What is wrong with profit from space mining? We are a long way from doing that as there is no way to bring back any amount of material that would be profitable. it cost $10,000 a pound in the space shuttle to send it and cargo to orbit. Iknow no system that is going to make that cheaper by any means. Mining in spce is a fantacy, we would need STAR TREK science to do that.

If I was President of the U.S. I would negotiate a binding peace agreement w/ Russia & China, the only 2 countries that could conceivably survive a total war w/ us. This would allow us to save at least $600 billion out of the $1.45 trillion we'll spend on total military expenditures in 2009. I would then take those savings & let the people vote on what to do w/ the money. They might decide to have universal healthcare, free college, &/or free day care & pre-school. Can you do better?

The reality of this world is an uncomfortable truth for many. One culture rarely if ever adopts another unless force is used. Not that it's right but the things America is often criticized for are things every empire has engaged in to some degree. It's a dog eat dog world people. If you want Utopia you may have to wait for the after life.
