Downloaded this sheet music on line (it's at no cost) as have always thought it one of JSB's finest creations but never thought my pedal board skills (I have feet like a hobbit) warranted what I thought would be a waste of time. But with a little work and pedaling in socks with a bit of non skid on the soles I am proud to say I now easily breeze through it and and still fascinated by it each time I perform this mathematical beauty. It never gets old.
Fabulous sound, but very disjointed performance, given his other recordings and experience. I would have asked him to stop at several points in this video, and start over, if only to get rid of the pauses between transitional points and clean up some of the passages. This performance sounds like a practice run. The organ itself has a glorious sound. I wonder if the (apparent) lack of "elbow room" and the limited foot pedal space contributed to the herky-jerky rendition.
Great! However, I tend not to approve of the time lag between his changing manuals.... the 'dance' is interrupted unnecessarily. But over all excellent! :)
How does someone dislike this performance? I think it's beautiful.

I found it as notes and then i made it with a music notation program

I learned on an organ with a similar pedalboard - ratchet swell pedal over at the right of the pedals, and tenor-C swell manual, too...!

@resultant64 Yes, all the Silbermann organs have a short pedal.

How is this organ tuned? The keys he is playing are G major, but it sounds like F.
hatstalker 10 months ago
@hatstalker That's right, the organ is tune one key lower as 440. All the Silbermann's are original lower.

@ADH2711 Ahhh fair enough. Very good performance anyway. Flawless!

Wonderful.
Great information and videography.
But why the pause at :35? Ruins the pulse.
Lagging jumps between manuals also ruin rhythm.
Why no mordent at 1:17?
Another lag before the pedal starts.
Start pedal at 2:32.
Should have shown the pedal beginning at 2:46 instead of face close-up.
Mirror shot too long.
Nice sound!
