I agree with fenderish. The voice on the verse is dead on. Not so much the chorus but a quality voice nonetheless. Neil Finn - best songwriter in the world IMHO.
Really nice job..one of fave songs off this album...I think the thing that is "off" is simply that you are sort of doubling up on the rhythm as opposed to the slow deliberate piano chords on the original..but the vocal is very nice
Trevor, regarding your diction, don't change a thing. Your English is excellent and your accent makes you all the more interesting to listen to. Keep playing and singing. You rock, dude.
HI! I really should subscribe to you since I love your other Neil/Crowdie covers. (Your "Hole in the River" is GREAT!) I just clicked the link without first realizing it was you.
Anyhow, something in this sounds slightly off. Maybe I think so because it's only you without the benefit of vocal harmonies and other instrumental padding. Not quite sure.
Also, there's a little bit of lazy diction going on. I don't mean to nitpick, but it makes your beautiful vocal less than it could be.
hi, thanks for subscribing! i think the reason why this sounds slightly off is because i play it a half step down and it is written for piano, not guitar.
About my diction: i'm from The Netherlands and my english is far from perfect...
This is great just a question though why do you use a capo a lot? Do you find better control up the neck with it or is it easier to transpose the key?
Well done this is gorgeous - I love Crowded House and I love when someone else covers their song but so many times the song gets ruined!! (Damien Leith, Paul Young) But this is so nice!!
crowded house is my favourite band by miles and i hear so many covers on here that rip their songs to bits but vids like this are the reason i keep looking - this is brilliant! well done, nice one! just off to watch your other CH songs now...!
man...i thought it was you Neil...but no..it is you Trevor...enjoyed it as much as original..which is a bit spooky...and you didn't even have soprano backing singers!
Larry, never thought I would love a cover verion better than the original - especially where crowded house are concerned - this is superb. The vocals, guitar, feeling, sound quality, indeed everything about your presentaion is first class. Please let us know when/where we can come to see you live. All the best for you in 2008.
Nice performance! But I've got to say that I don't like the rhythm. We're all free to put our own interpretation on songs, but with this one I think that you need to be hitting straight 8s like in the recorded version. Great apart from that :)
You could maybe do some Del Amitri songs (Justin Currie). I'd guess you'd know songs such as 'Be My Downfall' , 'Tell Her This' 'Driving with the breaks on' 'Nothing Ever Happens' etc. Your voice is spot on and i think u'd do another great job
As a huge Neil fan, I can't say yours is better, but it's still fantastic. it's hard to get a fan to give a little, so take it as high praise. :) the very fact you chose a CH/Neil song gives you major brownie points! I used to sing CH songs in my band in college...they ARE fun to sing!
Man, i cannot stop watching this! Your guitar playing and singing are absolutely exquisite! Thanks for posting this, and I can honestly say that your version is better than the original.
Thx man. You sound great. I've been to two concerts of CH in Amsterdam and Brussels but your version of Pour le Monde sounds great. I like it a lot. May be Neil should do this on stage like you do it. (That's a compliment to you!!).
Beautiful, simply lovely, thanks very much. Neil Finn is perhaps one of the most underrated artists of our time. His lyrics and music have touched my heart in so many ways. Can't wait to see them tonight in Portland!!
Hi Trevor aka "the Headless Houseman"...awesome tribute, another one that is. Pour le Monde happens to be my favorite ballad piece on the new album and you've really done it justice with your own twist. Cheers, Chris
This is one of my favorite songs off of "Time On Earth". As when I heard your version of "Silent House", I got goosebumps.
Neil Finn is an incredible singer/songwriter. Like Jonatha Brooke, Neil (as well as many others) are so underrated in the country. It seems like true talent always gets pushed away. Shame.
you sound like a scouser. Very Lennon. absolutely brilliant. Best cover of a Neil Finn song I've ever heard. Well done.
