i love all styles of metal and many power metal bands(blind guardian iced earth brainstorm cellador helloween etc) but i just cant get into gamma ray because of kai's voice.
ive always hated his voice ever since i first heard him on follow the blind and tales from the twilight.
i love his playing and songs but i just wish he would shut the fuck up and get some one else to sing

@bobusrex Actually I find their song writting less catchy than Morgana lefay,now if they could write stuff with more punch,and was catchier than that band they'd really be good.Also if they added some more technical beat's kinda like Epica,and the new Bloodbound,it would fit their style more I think,but I will say this album's definately a step up!

@Metalforthewinn I consider Morgana lefay pretty power metal,especially the old stuff,and the grand materia album,and yeah,I like Power metal alot too,plus I've heard like all the Helloween album's,Kiske is my favorite singer out of them,but him wanting to be pop really hurt my stomach,but atleast Place vendomes pretty okay,I'd say I actually like Place vendome,and Gamma Ray better than new Helloween.Although better than raw,and Time of the oath are good Andi deris album's!

@northfulton88 - there are a hell of a lot of bands that rock - the only reason you kid's refer to Metallica, Slayer and Megadeath is due to the fact that you have very limited access to less popular bands that are as good or WAY BETTER. I've been listening to Kai's music since 1984 when he release the first Helloween E.P. Check out Steel Wings, Skull Fist, Cauldron and Striker.....the best metal is not mainstream.
we played this song once last year, in a school-sponsored battle of the bands competition. we were the only ones in bright and happy colors! I wore a happy yellow green shirt and my bandmates wore bright red (female guitar), yellow (lead singer), and blue for both drums and bass. the hosts (frat boys) laughed at us. when we finished playing... oh! the poor black-shirt alt rockers and poppers never knew what hit them. \m/

There are lots good mainstream bands too.. as you said.. bands you mentioned, add Iron Maiden and old Nightwish too, really awesome stuff. There are more good mainstream bands but not gonna list all over :P If Maiden and old Nightwish even are mainstream, more like very popular to my taste :P

Into The Storm is a title of sog of Blind Guardian omg.Why they don't find a title for their songs and don't steal the titels from other bands.Try Savatage or Blind Guardian if you want to listen to UNIQUE POWER METAL.Try the Into the Storm of Blind Guardian.
Just because two bands have the same names for songs doesn't mean one stole from another. Now if the so-called thief were to be playing the exact same song and claim it as their own, that would be theft.
i was at their concert two days ago and it was the best night EVER! they didn't play this song, but they were soooo amazing! kai and henjo handed me their picks durring the show, not threw them, but actually gave them to me from the stage, and after the show, the all came out and took pictures with us, chatted with us, gave us autographs and they were so super nice! they always are (from my experience), they also came out and spent time with us... can't wait for them to come back!
well my point was that it is not so intense on theese concerts( still i consider power metal a masterpiece)... sry if i offended any1 :D but i was kinda bored at hammerfall and to that goes the fact that they did the concert like they dn't give a shit bout their audience... so all in all i won't go to gamma ray for fighting or drinking but for the art of pwr metal.
I guess that there are more mature people than teens at Power Metal concerts because many teens don´t have the bloodiest idea what Power Metal is about. And they are not to blame, most of them are exposed to shitty MTV and similar ones ( Or cumbia, which is the worst thing ever) and they don´t bother to find out for themselves... its ZG which stands for Zagreb... i used to intensivly listen to power metal when i was younger. I've been to the hammerfall concert in zg and it was moastly attended by 14yr-olds (year more or less) or older guys (30 yrs). and you simply can't compare the atmosphere on power metal concerts to the atmosphere on punk concerts where you have plenty of fights and more people drinking and its...simply crazier.
this doesn't mean i dnt still love power metal and that i won't go to the gamma ray conc.

Im not saying that the metalheads community can't feel united, I'm saying that metal itself isnt meant to be a music style centred in community. Metal was originally a style about loneliness and exclusion (adding of course the original black metal elements such as satanism and stuff) and that has perdured through MOST of the styles, for power metal tends to be an exception.
I guess I can see what you mean, I've found that theres usually at least some form of brotherhood within metal (to some degree, and of course never having to do with the mainstream audience)

I could go on into every genre easily (except maybe black metal :P)
and there is, for example, the case of Gamma Ray, particularly with "Induction" + "Dethrone Tyranny", which is almost like a punk song in the sense of calling people to unite against the system:
"Illuminati, They've come to take control. You can take my heartbeat, but you can't break my soul: We all shall be free!", "Heaven is for everyone", "We'll ask for reasons, until the bitter end..."
You know that not every concert is like that. At some metal concerts, people stab other people. Some guys go around looking for fights. Metal community isn't that great, and I don't attend extreme concerts anymore because of the clientele.
I may not have been to a large amount of extreme metal shows, but when I have gone the crowd has always been friendly (hell I went alone once and within 2 seconds I was having some drinks with 5 other guys) I don't know if its cultural differences or if you've just happened to be at the wrong show at the wrong time (or me at the right show at the right time) but I've never had a bad experience during a metal show
well there you go, I'm not a huge fan of depressing metal. I do enjoy some black metal from time to time (as long as its still powerful and epic a la Heart Of Winter) and I have gone to a grindcore show which was pretty kickass

i was at their concert two days ago and it was the best night EVER! they didn't play this song, but they were soooo amazing! kai and henjo handed me their picks durring the show, not threw them, but actually gave them to me from the stage, and after the show, the all came out and took pictures with us, chatted with us, gave us autographs and they were so super nice! they always are (from my experience), they also came out and spent time with us... can't wait for them to come back!

well my point was that it is not so intense on theese concerts( still i consider power metal a masterpiece)... sry if i offended any1 :D but i was kinda bored at hammerfall and to that goes the fact that they did the concert like they dn't give a shit bout their audience... so all in all i won't go to gamma ray for fighting or drinking but for the art of pwr metal.

I guess that there are more mature people than teens at Power Metal concerts because many teens don´t have the bloodiest idea what Power Metal is about. And they are not to blame, most of them are exposed to shitty MTV and similar ones ( Or cumbia, which is the worst thing ever) and they don´t bother to find out for themselves... But it´s up to them if they accept what is imposed on them... I pity them , they miss fabulous bands,, like Gamma Ray

its ZG which stands for Zagreb... i used to intensivly listen to power metal when i was younger. I've been to the hammerfall concert in zg and it was moastly attended by 14yr-olds (year more or less) or older guys (30 yrs). and you simply can't compare the atmosphere on power metal concerts to the atmosphere on punk concerts where you have plenty of fights and more people drinking and its...simply crazier.
this doesn't mean i dnt still love power metal and that i won't go to the gamma ray conc.

Im not saying that the metalheads community can't feel united, I'm saying that metal itself isnt meant to be a music style centred in community. Metal was originally a style about loneliness and exclusion (adding of course the original black metal elements such as satanism and stuff) and that has perdured through MOST of the styles, for power metal tends to be an exception.

I guess I can see what you mean, I've found that theres usually at least some form of brotherhood within metal (to some degree, and of course never having to do with the mainstream audience)
for example:

I could go on into every genre easily (except maybe black metal :P)

and there is, for example, the case of Gamma Ray, particularly with "Induction" + "Dethrone Tyranny", which is almost like a punk song in the sense of calling people to unite against the system:
"Illuminati, They've come to take control. You can take my heartbeat, but you can't break my soul: We all shall be free!", "Heaven is for everyone", "We'll ask for reasons, until the bitter end..."
etc.

You know that not every concert is like that. At some metal concerts, people stab other people. Some guys go around looking for fights. Metal community isn't that great, and I don't attend extreme concerts anymore because of the clientele.
Gamma Ray probably has a good crowd though.

I may not have been to a large amount of extreme metal shows, but when I have gone the crowd has always been friendly (hell I went alone once and within 2 seconds I was having some drinks with 5 other guys) I don't know if its cultural differences or if you've just happened to be at the wrong show at the wrong time (or me at the right show at the right time) but I've never had a bad experience during a metal show

well there you go, I'm not a huge fan of depressing metal. I do enjoy some black metal from time to time (as long as its still powerful and epic a la Heart Of Winter) and I have gone to a grindcore show which was pretty kickass
