This song first appeared as the opening track on the Jim Nabors Christmas Album. His second holiday album was called Merry Christmas. The compilation pictured here has songs from both albums. Such cut and paste jobs are very common even today.
A great song by a talented artist! I loved him in Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. and in The Andy Griffith show.. From his 'twangy' hillbilly voice to such an AWESOME singing voice...it is something to behold! Being from Indiana, it is GREAT to hear his voice at the start of every Indy 500 race...he was missed GREATLY the year he was unable to come :o)

my mom used to blare this on Christmas morning to get me and my 2 sisters out of bed if we weren't up early enough for her. to this day we all listen to it every Christmas morning
I was thinking that this was Tennessee Ernie Ford, when I was young! My Mom had this and Tennessee Ernie Fords Christmas albums. Both Jim and Ernie have wonderful voices! Thank-you so much for posting!
Gollly! This rocking rendition from 1967 was in my parents' Xmas collection. I had no idea who it was until I researched the now-late Thurl "Tony the Tiger" Ravenscroft and he was noted as being in the intro line on this song. That's how I found out Jim Nabors did the song. I found a scratchy vinyl version online but this is superior. Love it! Thanks.
Another thing, if you're ever on interstate 70 in the rockies within about 15 miles of the eisenhower tunnel around Christmas, crank this song!! The perfect place and time for it!!
@hammer476 Too bad it took me 30 years to figure out who it was singing. Without the name I couldn't find it since listening to my parents' copy in the mid 1970s. Awesome.
Jim Nabors has such a beautiful voice and for him to share it with us is a blessing. This is the best I have ever heard this song sung. I was really surprised. I hope many many people come to know Jesus during this season. Thank you very much for posting it.
The best version of this classic Christmas song ever thank you for sharing.

A wonderful and inspiring song as sung by Jim Nabors. Best known as Tv's lovable Marine Gomer Pyle. One of the best Christmas songs ever made.
