man, do I wish they can tow as good as they look and sound, but unfortunetly, this commercial is false advertisement. I use to want one when I was little, but I don't really need it. Sorry, they are pretty and sound good but they got the worst towing power compared to the rest. But I do miss these commercials.
At idle? That is absolutely not true. I am a mechanical engineer. THIS COMMERCIAL IS A LIE. I don't even think that at 2500 rpm it could do that. 15000 pounds? LIE
Really then how do MEN manage to pull 18 wheeler big rigs, there are a ton of those video's on here... Im watching one right now where he pulls 60 tons of trucks...
The idle thing is a lie probably, but at 2500 rpm thats almost the rpm range of all the torque on the magnum engine... Pulling something with wheels once you get going its easy.
Also 15,000 lbs isnt really that much for trucks, duelly's can pull that... and the only MAIN diff here is the transmission
@titanicnerdclay I'm with you on this one. A friend a mine had a Ram 1500 of this year and the tranny went out from towing a horse trailer. He drives a Chevy Silverado with Turbo Diesel now. I always wanted a dodge myself until gas prices went up and later found out that they actually have the worst towing power compared to all the others
I had a 1989 dodge ram. I was hauling logs to the saw mill and it was hot as hell that day. When I was on the interstate the damn air condition went out. There was a cloud of smoke came up from the engine. It had 32,000 miles on it. That truck was well token care of. It had a v8 4x4. I still have the truck. In 2008 I save every penny I had and bought a 2008 ford f450 king ranch v8 power stroke turbo diesel. Doing the same job and not having and problems with it.
My dad has a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 super cab it has the same body style of the '97 Ram. His truck weighed 7'000 lbs. Until he turned into a dually now it weighs 7'560 lbs. Hey pulled a Mack semi truck out of a ditch in that thing! Dodges are tuff shit.
"Why buy a 3.5 ecoboost with 22 MPG when you could get a hemi 5.7 that gets 20?"......hands down best, albeit stupidest comment I've read here. Why settle for a whole Snickers when you can get 90% of it? Typical Dodge fanboy. Newsflash fool the ecoboost also makes 365hp and 420lb ft. Still want that hemi?
i got a dodge ram today n i dont like the fact that it wants to takeoff like that when u put it in drive. must be bad for the breaks. i dunno but i will find out
I wish newer vehicles were like this now. Although even back then they started all going down hill. I love Dodge don't get me wrong, however if you buy any car or truck made after the 1970s you can expect to fork out a lot more repairing it then anything prior.
I have a 1997 Ram 1500 sport 5.9l. I had no idea that my truck could do this. I love dodges. I've owned 2. The 97 and I bought a 99 1500 but I totalled it. I saved my life so now I will only own Rams. And maybe a Chevy to play in.
@hickster699 Excellent comment because if someone is looking for a good review they end up reading comments from people who are angry b/c they punched their engines way too much and did not maintain them properly and then want to bash the company...uh no that was your fault. lol
@hickster699 Just saying. I've owned every brand of truck, full size and small(no dakotas tho?) Anyways, best two trucks we're the ones with the most miles and were both Chevys. Paid 400 for a 2000 s10 put 600 into it and it was perfect. Paid 800 for a 91 K1500 and sold it for 2000 eventually. Both had about 198k when I bought them. All three of rams started falling apart before 150k. The Bronco was slow, and the Ranger...a joke at best. I now own a Ram still. They break, but I love em.
@JoeysFunFarm yeah. But that's a carburated engine and with way less comforts than vehicles come with now a days. I'd take an 87 if it had auto windows, a cummins, and a 5 spd.
@MoparDodge93 once again opinionated comments listen this is the 21st centry not the 20th nor the 1970's so keep the fix or repair daily comment out of here. and yeah toyota had recalls on their cars but what about dodge ever hear about the dodge recall on their transmissions. Atleast toyota lasts more than 100,000 miles without problems. yeah good one .Dead On Delivery, Go Easy.
@MoparDodge93 so you are basically telling me that your opinion is that you like dodge alright good for you. i told you to go to your mechanic to get a factual data base. so let me ask you this. if ford is so bad how come they are the number 1 selling brand world wide ABOVE toyota and have reliability ratings comparable or better than toyota and honda. all dodge is is plastic and rubber, hence the name mopar: made of plastic and rubber. oh yeah and i'd rather be stroking than cumming
@MoparDodge93 oh yeah..the "eco-boost". They are charging more for it than the 5.0 litre, which puts out the same amount of power and the 5.0l is a much better engine all around. just a ripoff gimmick Ford is doing.
@MoparDodge93 oh wait wait wait. go to your mechanic and ask how many fords dodges and chevys they get and then talk shit on ford and chevy. dodge sucks they break down all the time
pieces of shit. the pumpkin and shocks on a dodge 1 ton is so fucking small and there transmissions suck ass as well. the only reason people buy them is because they are cheaply made so they don't cost as much. i don't know if you have ever seen the new commercial for the ram that say bring it bring it back if it doesn't do everything you want the thing to do. don't see that any more.
Im sure a diesel could do that. I know my 5.9 can, i've pulled a 2 horse trailer before with it with 2 horses and a saddle in it, 5.9 has 345lbs of torque, and 300 at the wheels. I never tested this idling tho lol.. The 46re transmission and my Jeep were maxed out at 6500lbs doing this.
I dont see hwo you guys dont believe this video. Its easy to move something like this one with wheels. The trucks are rolling. I bet you a person could pull this once he gets it rolling.
okay, put a fucking truck on you're back, tow all of those trucks, put trucks on THOSE trucks, TAPE IT, and send me the video. I'll have the pleasure of awarding you a fucking trophy.
I never once said someone could put a truck on thier back. I said that someone could pull that easily.... I dont need to elarn to argue because i already have you beat. Learn some basic Physics because thats all this comes down to.. All you need to do is get the wheels to move.
Do me a favour, go park whatever vehicle you own on a flat surface and start pushing it. I bet you it will move with ease... You wont even have to try, hell you could lean on it and it will move.. Imagine if you were pulling, its easily possible to pull that much weight
put more than 5,000 pounds on your back, and then do that. Jesus fucking christ, for the third time put weight on your back, THEN do it. do you understand?
I've heard alot about Dodge transmissions and front suspensions. My first dodge was a Intrepid, and everyone said that the trannies were bad. @skynyrdjeepamn Easy there killer. Judging by your username, and your aforementioned amount of Dodge Rams you've owned, your probably a "simple" folk. It does beg to ask though, if the trucks are so good, why have you owned more than ten of them? The other nine crap out on you?
I'm not saying the trucks are necessarily bad, but it's a known fact that they have less than ideal transmissions. My friend owns a transmission service shop, and most of his business is these era Dodge trucks.
@One3teen Still is a good truck! The HEMI and 4.7 mag have proved to be just as reliable as the old push-rod 318's and 360's, and the Cummins, well we all know its reliability.
