@lankinator24 I don't think they were in charge. The ultranationalist party sort of crumbled with Zakhaev's death, but went on underground. The president is the one who authorised the counter-attack on America when Russia was "Attacked by Americans" at the No Russian mission.

@Sintakhra The Ultranationalists won the Russian Civil War, as evidenced by the statue built to commemorate Zakhaev. Vorshevsky was installed by the Ultranationalist party, but Makarov believed that they didn't go nearly far enough, and thought that the surviving members of Zakhaev's circle who came into power were too soft with the West, so he continued his terrorist acts, against both the West, and the 'soft' Ultranationlist Russia.

Not just the movies, but from the start to about 0:59 the song has a rather strong resemblance to Tchaikovsky's Slavonic March. Look up "Slavonic March" and you will hear the similarities. As for the rest of the piece, I can't say, but it is great nonetheless.

Using a truly Russian piece to inspire music representing the Russians. Brian Tyler is a musical genius.

@Phoenix8492 In no way does the use of prior musical pieces constitute musical "genius." Tyler's works range from generic drama to better pieces like this. The whole point of extensive research behind music theory and history is to enable a composer to draw from older pieces (like Tchaikovsky's Slavonic March). Sure, Tyler's better than most video game score composers, but he's just a shadow in comparison to actual musical geniuses like John Williams and Howard Shore.
