Videosoulbygreg - other than Tv - yes Ed Sullivan started primarily as a newspaper writer- he had a regular "COLUMN" in a NY paper which he wrote as a critic- or social affairs reporter- in the days prior to TV there was such a thing as a time before TV - and America thrived with talent before the TV was invented- ED wrote about broadway talent -etc-
Thanx for posting this classic among all the mystery guest segments. Ed Sullivan and John Daly both exhibited such dignity on TV: it is hysterical to see Ed wearing a joke mask reducing Daly to watery-eyed, bent-over guffawing.
Dorothy is funny too when she is ( 2:49 ) trying to be heard above the hurricanes of laughter.
Sullivan looks like Bogart's brother. Especially in that mask.

Watching Ed Sullivan on his show back in the day, you would never think that he could be silly like this. I guess that's what makes this soo funny.

Absolutely stunning. And who would associate Ed, of all people, with this much insane visual comedy?! Marvelous.
