  • Great video.. a bit longer than it needed to be but understandable considering so much content.

Can you do traps next time? Seems to be another "magical" body part for people, though in the opposite way in terms of growth opinions.

  • good information. Do you think it's necessary to isolate the calves? I think that you don't have to isolate the arms if you do bench press, rows, pull ups, deads and press. But you won't get huge calves when doing deadlifts or squats, right?

  • Do you believe in facia(sp?) training? I thought high rep ranges, i.e. 20-25, would target that type of muscle growth. Thoughts?

  • great video, very interesting throughout, not boring at all

  • @aTrueMartialArtist

are straight leg deadlift enough for the hamstrings?

i workout at home and have no other way to train hamstrings except deadlifts so i want to know if i need to add something

  • Man.. Information is good but fucking boring dude.. Make it short and get to the point

  • maybe u should see pete rubish

  • Hmm.. sit at home and play Halo.

    Might try that. ;)

  • Do you find it beneficial to change the angle of the feet during standing/sitting calf raises? i.e. toes pointed inward, outward, and straight?

  • Damn, I have been doing it right even before I watched the video. Cool stuff.

  • Great video as always Mac. Will take your points of view into future Calf traning !

  • @SmokeyBobby Good stuff, thanks!

  • Your esthetics on bodybuilding are so insightful. What are you studying in school? You should write a book. I see a bodybuilding guru in the making. Develop your physique to an optimum level and your following will really cultivate. Unfortunately people are idiots and will always listen to those who look like they know what they're doing before someone who actually knows what they're doing. Good stuff brotha. What sources do you turn to for your studies?

  • @ddayfitness I'm studying psychology and nutritional science and have interest in law and public policy as well. In truth this is something I do on the side. I would love to write a book but I'll need to find the time, lol! Thanks for the support.

  • ok you got me.... I subbed after watching the full 18 minutes. You sir know your shit and I look forward to having my calves hurt as bad my chest does. ;)

  • @cashmoney503 Thank you for your subscription sir! You are such an empowering motivator for me, champ! ~~~

  • Hey thats my picture on your facebook! Im famous!

  • @cashmoney503 o lawd, inb4 copyright

  • @LiftingForLife Today was the first time I have EVER done over 6-8 sets of calves, even when I did them every other day, and I can barely walk and I feel like Forest Gump when he was a child and had those metal leg frame things.

  • Lol muscular cankles.... I have so much respect for you and your scientific approaches.

  • @tunas707 Thank you!

  • @cardmastad No clue, ask YouTube! lol

  • MOAR videos!

  • @oconred Coming!

  • @LiftingForLife can you make the next video in this series about traps because i need some help in that area lol. thank you.

  • It's nice having good genetics for building muscle haha!! It always makes me laugh seeing the guys that have huge upper bodies and chicken legs

  • This vid was very informative. Keep 'em coming.

  • @PtotheMtotheJ Thank you, will do!

  • DO A FLEXING VID PLZ,

  • this only one point of view on bodybuilding - not really good - talking about the rep range !

have you heard about the Y3T Niel Hill ? thats one of many examples that you know something but not really everything about rep range and about muscles stymulation.

good video but not very good.

  • @sergiusz1000 From what I know of Y3T it is an inferior protocol at best so to judge my knowledge based on that protocol is rather strange.

  • Jay's got some pretty sweet calves and his soleus is pretty big.

  • whats a good site to check your macro requirements? Thanks in advance

  • good info here. A lot to take from. Thank you.

  • Good point on rep ranges under 15. I don't understand people doing 20, 50, or even 100 rep calf exercises. What are you studying at Georgia State?

  • Do you have any recommended Books/readings for Biomechanics for weight lifting? Thanks, stay safe.

  • Great Video Ian Keep up the good work .... I have tried you way for many years and have seen some improvements on my calfs .... Check out my video on what I do ... I have increased my calf size about 1 in in the last year ....

  • such a good video was just thinking the other day how shit my calves are :)

    Thanks

  • @shalesyci No problem!

  • Bravo Ian, great video. DwayneJohnsonClapping.gif

  • @rambo2670 Thanks!

  • Do you do any direct forearm work?

  • @chachles No I don't. I'm not convinced that doing wrist curls will really do anything for one's forearm development. I'm focusing on relying less on wrist straps and hopefully in doing so I will improve my grip strength and forearm development.

  • good job as usual...gotta get me them thar calves, mine are shitty...FOR NOW... :D thx ian

  • @Toshie1337 LOL, no problem

  • you make sense as always im gonna load the bar a bit more, also i want to know your opinion on the machine calve raises

  • @UpalKashey Bent or straight-leg?

  • you make sense as always im gonna load the bar a bit more

  • Great stuff buddy! It's CALF HAMMERING TIME!

  • @FreshToneFitness Thank you sir!

  • btw i love the long vids

  • @UpalKashey Me too lol

  • i just started doing an extra set and BAM more calves.

im gentically geared for bigger calves. haha

  • No dislike yet.

  • @krypt5 We have a a few now lol

  • great info as always

  • @ballzyification Thank you.

  • I really agree with you, especially about repetitions, but im interested in how you train your abs? i find it hard to find a excersise to overload with under 15 reps.

but ofc i know my core is getting work when im doing squats. but is it enough if i want growth in my abs? thx for great video as always

  • @PapaAnimal I use the Hammer Strength crunch machine and various rope movements with anywhere from 10-15 reps per set, plus I focus on keeping my core tight and posture correct in my daily life which helps strengthen the TVA. Squats and deads strengthen the TVA as well.

  • always helpful!!

I was one of those idiots not training legs....don't ask why...few months ago started with legs. The overall development of my whole body really show how important legs are.

  • as long as cover topics that your 100% confident about.. you don't to make a single mistake, because you have a large line of haters that will try tear you up for it lol.. also get some sleep

  • nice video.. you have allot on your list Ian keep up the good work

  • @greekism Yeah it's really a neverending list lol

  • Adding calves in Friday.

    Nice info Ian!

  • @camlam84 Thank you.

  • i wonder if developing the muscles on the front of the calves would help create a nice sweep from the front? also nice video i will start doing this immediately along with training calves first in my leg routine

  • @genericteen If I had access to a tibialis machine I would certainly use it.

  • best calves ben pakulski, eric frankhouser

  • @ausbb1 Agreed.
