It's a different style of music. This is political folk, where power chords and punchy riffs are out of character. Zack was doing traditional Mexican Jarocho music, which is even more out of keeping with his image in RATM. Personally, I like the fact that they dabble in different styles -- people who can appreciate variety in music ultimately make better musicians.
