the cubs we in a slump and things were going wrong, for instance, derrek lee's recent fight with jake peavy of the padres at the time. he did that and got the media and attention on him and off of his players and ball club and surely, the cubs got back on track and later on won the division title. even though they got swept, they had a very great run and are doing even better this year leading the entire mlb.
