  • Just watched it on Netflix. I want to get it, but I don't. Terminator, Road Warrior, Planet of the Apes (original), Westworld. I love all of those.

  • i got this plan. it's called "save ass"

  • It is time for the common man to realise it is a battle against the super rich who control everything rather than each other. The super rich love that we gang up on our own, they are shit scared the poor realise they are being controlled.Carpenter knows this, just watch his film 'They Live'.

  • This is still a slammin song!!!

  • le remake n'arrive pas a la cheville de l'original.Carpenter rules.

  • It's a megablast!!

  • One more GREAT theme to listen to for movie theme buffs is THE TERMINATOR. Its a fantastic tune that sets the stage for a really great/scary original movie

  • @BugCombat Agreed, I love Terminator!

  • Superb theme for a great movie. Like the guy above said, dont watch the remake... Infact you should avoid it like the plague.. John Carpenter is under rated nower days. Themes too

  • Great film. Great tune.

  • This song started the techno music era :D just for you to know :D

  • My intro 2 John Carpenter flicks...what can I say? The music is John @ his best. By the way, don't watch the remake, can't even come close.

  • Amazing, just amazing!

  • yeah carpenter with little letter

  • one of the best themes with halloween

  • @TheSuperNova335 I agree about themes. Even though the movie isn't to good... You should listen to Escape from New York theme too.

  • @BugCombat yes movie isn't so good like song

  • the cholo is like a zombie gang. relentlessly coming throught he windows regardless of how many of them get blown in half from a shotgun lol

  • When I hear this today, I think of Walt's alter ego Heisenberg from Breaking Bad.

  • Reminds me of manhunt

  • Sure Depeche Mode didnt write this !! Or Human League In fact this sounds like being boiled by the League ?

  • @koolheadpig

Just listened to 'being boiled' I agree it sounds similar, but The Human League released 'being boiled in 1978' and John Carpenter scored this soundtrack for Assualt on precinct 13 in 1976.

  • Sure Depeche Mode didnt write this !! Or Human League

  • Sure Depeche Mode didnt write this !!

  • @koolheadpig it was the director, John Carpenter, himself whom wrote this theme tune. And the rest of the score for that matter.

  • wow

  • just so amazingly cool, you know your the shit if you heard this theme playing as your walking down the street

  • o yes

  • i think this song should be in scarface

  • There needs to be a John Carpenter "Best Of" album.

  • @a121509 so true

  • "well uh... You see one floatin' around... snag it for me would ya" - Darwin Joston is Napoleon Wilson........

  • Killer theme, so simple so perfect.

Twang Chung made a great instrumental hip hop track based on this.

  • A shithop "artist" ripping off the work of others.

    Shocking

  • welcome to the hell, motherfucker!

  • One of the best actions movies!

  • Hey! This isn't vanilla twist, bitches!

  • The local ice cream man should play this when he comes down your street .. lol

  • Terranova - Bombing bastards

  • i think they should make a new movie and play this right the way through. 2 hours long

  • fuck the british film institute

  • @smokeythestlukesdog Fuck you perhaps.

  • This is on the British Film Institute's list of 360 films they're going to make perfect prints of and show annually. So it's going to sit alongside Stage Coach, Citizen Kane, and Potempkin.

  • Ullared wat xD

  • the 1 thing i hate bout not being born back in this time is the originality of movies nowadays its all about remakes and special effects the simplier times really do seem the best

  • @smokeythestlukesdog

Right on brother! I was born in the late 80s and it wasn't until the 2000s I began to appreciate movies. There are very few movies made in the last decade which I would include on my favorite. However, so many older movies are classics! Original Planet of the Apes, Omega Man (I am Legend was cheap rip off), 2001 - A Space Odyssey, even some newer things like the Aliens movies. These were great movies. Movies now just plain suck most of the time.

  • @anonymous3227 Honestly I think 90% of the real original films coming out in the modern day are more foreign films than the Hollywood film...Korea, Japan, Sweden...all have booming and interesting film industries at the moment. In fact if I had to list my top ten favorites of the last decade I think the majority would be foreign...Korea's Oldboy is up there with some of the all time greats for me.

  • mein gott war das ein film was für eine zeit das war!!! ich glaube ich werde dieser zeit immer hinterher trauern.

  • This is God's ringtone

  • I cannot get sick of this song.

  • Just saw this movie for the first time a few days ago. It makes me not even want to see the Ethan Hawke version. The redhead warlord reminded me of the main bad guy from Death Wish 3

  • To shot from (green) cars against innocent persons in the (black) suburbia was the South African Police style in the 70's.

  • HOTT SAMPLE FOR A HIP HOP BEAT, GO OVER YALL HEADS!

  • @beeblack2 was thinking the same thing i could hear mobb deep spittin over this beat

  • @beeblack2 Stanton Warriors do a great breakbeat track called 'get up' sampling this, but yeah surely some hip hop artist will do too

  • todays films to have great special effects but no atmosphares anymore. The 70ties where the best film decade!!! Dirty Harry, Halloween, Jaws, Clockwerk orange, the warriors, mad max etc. all fantastic movies!!.

  • @TKTnetwork yout got a point, most of my favorite movies are either from the 70's or the 90's, but every decade always comes out with alot of crap too.

  • best movie

  • Yep, try watching the remake of Vanishing Point - let 70s films alone, they are what they are!

  • first seen this when i was 13 loved it ever since, very underrated i must say!

  • Way better than the remake

  • just saw this recently...the remake is embarrasing

  • Great theme to an underrated Carpenter masterpiece!

  • @TheAltair4

Indeed and he was inspired by Rio Bravo when he did this movie and Night of the Living Dead. I can see why this cult classic was one of the inspirations to die Hard as well and this movie was like a 70's version with the same trapped in a building theme action movie

  • The remake would of been fine if they played this song 6 or 7 times throughout the film.

  • dont watch the remake

  • this is a great film, i saw it when i was about 10 and it blew me away. john carpenter is my favorite director of all time, he is also a great composer, wish they would stop remaking his movies ! there not going to make them bettter, hello rob zombie !

  • @mrgudmartin I almost did.

  • @mrgudmartin yeah the remake is funny that the police bad for business use of weapons and equipment to attack. How to comply with the ammo used?

  • @mrgudmartin DONT WATCH ANY REMAKES... If anyone can give me a GOOD remake I will happily watch it... I welcome ALL to fire away with suggestions... = )

  • @BugCombat The Wicker Man? The Amityville Horror - both great remakes.

  • @makoeyez Im sorry but The Wicker Man with Nic Cage is horrendous (watch the original). The Amityville Horror is watchable but not a patch on the original... I have my own opinions and you have yours. And I respect you taste and opinion. But to me they both have nothing on the originals. Fire some more at me. I genuinely want to watch a remake that is as good or better than the original. = )

  • @BugCombat The original Wickerman bored me to death. I guess if I had watched the original first I may have felt differently. How about The Omen? Both the original and remake are brilliant in my eyes. I can't really think of any other decent remakes. I would say 3:10 to Yuma but I haven't seen the original so I can't compare :(

  • @makoeyez I haven't watched the remake of The Omen yet. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll make sure I watch it (original is great). I didnt even know 3:10 to Yuma was a remake, and I think its great (thanks for the knowledge) I'll look out for the original and hopefully let you know. And come to think about it, True Grit is a really good remake... I dont like the original, mainly because im just not keen on John Wayne's style. Thanks for making me think abit friend. = )

  • @BugCombat haha you're welcome. And, you're right about John Wayne - I would choose a Clint Eastwood western any day!

  • @makoeyez Great minds think alike... No shit, Clint Eastwood is my #1 actor. Spaghitti westerns, Dirty Harry & even the Every which / Any which movies LMAO.

Right turn Clyde XD (hope you get the reference)

  • John Carpenter...........

    *shakes head*

Is there a limit to the man's genius? Keep in mind he is also the driving force behind the greatest band of all time........"The Coup De Villes"

    *clap clap clap*

  • The major flaw with this movie is the fact that you can't silence an AR 15 assault rifle, the standard 5.56 because the bullet goes faster than the speed of sound. Awesome theme though.

  • @Che870 -- ARE YE STILL PRETENDING TO BE A BOWL OF PORRIDGE, YA BULLSHITTER ? :-)

  • Assault on Precinct 13 taught us that it may be better to sacrifice dozens of people in order to stop two of your mates from going to jail for killing a small child.

  • John Carpenter is the master of synth-soundtracking. I only hope he doesnt shit himself and ie when "The Thing-2011" comes out this year, unless he blessed it.

  • Got a smoke?

  • Best soundtrack ever, they just donno how to make movies like this these days......

  • Thanks John Carpenter!!! You know how to make music for movies!!!

  • this piece of music stands by itself, it doesn't need the film.

  • what would life be without art ?!

  • Stanton Warriors - Get Up ft. Ruby Goe & Hollywood Holt sampled this speed it up

  • I hum this when I look out my front room window...

  • This movie makes no sense, but I fucking love it!

  • @rocketsauced The movie makes plenty of sense. you must have the I.Q. of a 15 year old chick.

  • @101iamlegend Sounds like the opinion of a 15 year old chick.

  • @rocketsauced Great comeback.

  • The remake is for 12 year olds who haven't heard of the original. Hollywood is unable to make good films anymore.

  • @AZUREGLIDE it's all about the money-

no creational freedom anymore, nothing but copying the same lame things over and over again ,

regardless how shallow and stupid it may be as long as it promises the biggest success in terms of sold tickets- instead of challenging spectators, giving them some new impressions, something they can chew on ,something that may widen people's horizons instead of keeping them narrow and making people actively stupid!

  • Carpenter is King! Inspiration behind - neonyl – John Carpenter V Uffie ‘Assault on Precinct SUV’...

  • I have to say this is by far my favorite Carpenter track, and one of my favorite songs in general. It is so amazing.

  • i just love this one.the remake is not that bad

  • I hear JC said the basis for the plot for this is borrowed from Howard hawks"Rio bravo"(his favourite film).

  • una joya de pelicula

  • This is where Xenon 2: Bomb the Bass: Megablast got it's intro music from. It is also used on Animal Planet in a commercial.

  • gotta smoke?

  • If you're ever in the shit, imagine you can hear this theme and you will be OK. If that fails reach for a 12 gauge pump shotgun.

  • the 80ies and 90ies are ya a moron or somesuch? anywyays john did this shit on a keyboard ans some radio shakh shit bak in the day you do better and gimme a call.

  • In the 80ies and 90ies this melody was played for rape & violation scenes in turkish films.

    Big John every where ;)

  • Ein Meisterwerk von John Carpenter Er ist und bleibt der Größte !!!

  • Sledgehammer sound of the Minimoog strikes again...........

  • I was watching 13 with a mate and his girlfriend many years ago when we started humming this tune after the film finished on TV and the girlfriend got totally freaked out by it, she was genuinelly scared of us humming this dark repetative melody lol

  • sound track is done by the awesome synth wizz mark shreeve the track is asassin by nark shreeve

  • This song sounds so fuckin dangerous!

  • @mrstrictlygm it sounds mystical, makes you feel the vastness of ot all, it makes you feel reverence and awestruck.

it makes you feel peaceful and frugal.

  • John Carpenter, simply one of the greatest. Love this movie and the score is awesome:)

  • It reminds me of the song "Don't Blame Me" by The Exploited

  • the original had the suspence and what the fuck is happening and going on feeling to it and the new one just like any movie hollywood remake is just an over priced pile of crap with alot of explosions, when is it ever a good idea to remake a classic what do we need i know what we can need more explosions ??????

  • I just saw the remake-----Loved it...8/10 but that may also be due to the fact that Ethan Hawke rocks. But seriously everything about the film was great especially the unusual twists and tight pacing.....I have just downloaded the original and will be seeing it right now......

  • "I was born out of time" - Napoleon Wilson

this movie gets under your skin.

  • street thunders???? i was sure they were cho-lo.....a real gang!!

  • bpd pigs...die pig die!!!!!!

    HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa!

  • A very nice inipendent movie with a special touch. The only one I know where the badguys shhot an inncent 7 year old girl, and show it.

  • @RobinsTaste that's the part I detest.

  • wow - had never heard this theme before finding out it was Zimmer's favourite tune. And now hearing it - i have finally found where Bitmap Bro's inspiration came from for their Xenon 2 theme song.

  • THE ORIGINALL IS THOUSANDS BILLIONS TIMES BETTER THAN THE BAD REMAKE PLEASE STOP MAKING MOVIES IF YOU OUT OF IDEAS

  • Good video!

  • Good viedo!

  • I wonder If John use a Moog synth, the sound is just awesome.

  • One of the greatest films’ made about urban life. A fantastic soundtrack, great storyline and sheer grit and suspense that is all bought together by a fantastic director. Seriously, folks, those of you who have never seen the original DO SO NOW! It is a classic 80's movie. The remake is just poor in comparison.

  • @zimmer28 70's..1976

  • @zimmer28 It was made in the 1976

  • HAns Zimmers favorite theme!!! lol.. Bad Ass

  • this music gives you the feeling "holy shit. we are not gonna make it! there is no chance we're gonna get away from here! WE ARE TOTALLY FUCKED UP!!!!"

  • One of the best movie themes ever (IMO). Fits perfectly.

  • @Radqq - I agree. This film and scarface has to be the all time greatest film. These films are very violnet but teh acting, storyliner and sound track are all perfect.

  • The remake was quite terrible, as in, really fucking terrible.

  • @Talbot6832 i totally adgree with 1000%!!!!!

so stupid making the cops the bad guys instead of gangbagers with no Emotion or fellings!!!

  • @Talbot6832 i totally adgree with 1000%!!!!!

so stupid making the cops the bad guys instead of gangbagers with no Emotion or feelings!!!

  • the original 1976 is a real masterpiece! One of the shocking film ever... and great sound! John carpenter is a magician and Napoleone Wilson is fantastic! what a hero

  • jc is the poo. i wish john carpenter and kurt russel would come back and make ''escape from tulsa oklahoma''. i would love to see them pull that off. i've been trying for years.

  • Cool, man! Thanks. :)

  • what a masterpiece!

  • The remake was cool, but this one id still standing as a house.

I remember that the little girl was shot, only for her icecreme.

    Great music.

  • @lebbing64 The little girl thought it was really cool getting shot, she'd only done Disney stuff before, brilliant movie.

  • this is the best soundtrack EVER

  • Back in 99, DJ Paul used this sample from their song

" When God Calls Timeout "

  • Not only is John Carpenter a genius director he's a genius musician

  • How'd you get the music for this?? I've been looking for it.

  • If Jesus was naughty.... this is the music he'd come back to !

  • @dabsy71 Yeah.....this ominous music gives me goosebumps....but in a good way O.O!

  • The original is a classic and far better than the remake. It has that dark eerie feel. I remember seeing that girl get shot in the head as a kid and stuck with me ever since untill i saw it again wen i got older.

  • @nukem11 Yeah shit like that just didn't happen in movies back then, i guess its still against the rules, very shocking. Carpenter said he kinda regrets it now.

  • escape from new york and assault on precinct 13 are by far my favorite movies of all time by john carpenter

  • Great score, as always, from Carpenter. The score is the best part of this awesome movie. I am glad that Carpenter is releasing some movies in the next couple of years. It has been too long.

  • Thank You very much :)

  • ...its a megablast. Bomb the bass rocked its socks off but I def still prefer the original. Was there anything that Carpenter couldnt do?!? Wouldnt be surprised if he could juggle fire and wrestle midgets.

  • This is it boys and girls. One of the fucking classics from the seventies. Do not try and remake solid gold. They tried and failed. Carpenter's most haunting movie. Halloween is the best horror on a head level but Precinct is chilling on an entirely different level. A movie that will stay with you.

  • I've been hooked on this theme since last year.

  • i liked the new one most

  • Carpenter - top man (and I'm English)

  • Great f...... movie and a great f...... soundtrack

  • Comment removed

  • nice, thanks for posting

  • were can i buy this OST?

  • pure art...

    fuck avatar !!!

  • John Carpenter = Genius

  • john carpenter = master movie maker

soundtracks plus scripts and plots.... the man is legendary. if any director has a 100% success rate with all their movies.... john carpenter is the one guy who comes close.

so much awesome, so little trash.

    historic.

  • I'm listen to this Theme Hour after Hour without a Break, and it's still a Classic Forever !!!

  • GREAT score to a classic film. I'm so glad I got to see it at the drive-in back in the day!
