It is time for the common man to realise it is a battle against the super rich who control everything rather than each other. The super rich love that we gang up on our own, they are shit scared the poor realise they are being controlled.Carpenter knows this, just watch his film 'They Live'.
One more GREAT theme to listen to for movie theme buffs is THE TERMINATOR. Its a fantastic tune that sets the stage for a really great/scary original movie
Superb theme for a great movie. Like the guy above said, dont watch the remake... Infact you should avoid it like the plague.. John Carpenter is under rated nower days. Themes too

the 1 thing i hate bout not being born back in this time is the originality of movies nowadays its all about remakes and special effects the simplier times really do seem the best
Right on brother! I was born in the late 80s and it wasn't until the 2000s I began to appreciate movies. There are very few movies made in the last decade which I would include on my favorite. However, so many older movies are classics! Original Planet of the Apes, Omega Man (I am Legend was cheap rip off), 2001 - A Space Odyssey, even some newer things like the Aliens movies. These were great movies. Movies now just plain suck most of the time.
@anonymous3227 Honestly I think 90% of the real original films coming out in the modern day are more foreign films than the Hollywood film...Korea, Japan, Sweden...all have booming and interesting film industries at the moment. In fact if I had to list my top ten favorites of the last decade I think the majority would be foreign...Korea's Oldboy is up there with some of the all time greats for me.
Just saw this movie for the first time a few days ago. It makes me not even want to see the Ethan Hawke version. The redhead warlord reminded me of the main bad guy from Death Wish 3
todays films to have great special effects but no atmosphares anymore. The 70ties where the best film decade!!! Dirty Harry, Halloween, Jaws, Clockwerk orange, the warriors, mad max etc. all fantastic movies!!.
@TKTnetwork yout got a point, most of my favorite movies are either from the 70's or the 90's, but every decade always comes out with alot of crap too.
Indeed and he was inspired by Rio Bravo when he did this movie and Night of the Living Dead. I can see why this cult classic was one of the inspirations to die Hard as well and this movie was like a 70's version with the same trapped in a building theme action movie

@BugCombat The original Wickerman bored me to death. I guess if I had watched the original first I may have felt differently. How about The Omen? Both the original and remake are brilliant in my eyes. I can't really think of any other decent remakes. I would say 3:10 to Yuma but I haven't seen the original so I can't compare :(
@makoeyez I haven't watched the remake of The Omen yet. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll make sure I watch it (original is great). I didnt even know 3:10 to Yuma was a remake, and I think its great (thanks for the knowledge) I'll look out for the original and hopefully let you know. And come to think about it, True Grit is a really good remake... I dont like the original, mainly because im just not keen on John Wayne's style. Thanks for making me think abit friend. = )
@makoeyez Great minds think alike... No shit, Clint Eastwood is my #1 actor. Spaghitti westerns, Dirty Harry & even the Every which / Any which movies LMAO.
The major flaw with this movie is the fact that you can't silence an AR 15 assault rifle, the standard 5.56 because the bullet goes faster than the speed of sound. Awesome theme though.
Assault on Precinct 13 taught us that it may be better to sacrifice dozens of people in order to stop two of your mates from going to jail for killing a small child.
John Carpenter is the master of synth-soundtracking. I only hope he doesnt shit himself and ie when "The Thing-2011" comes out this year, unless he blessed it.
no creational freedom anymore, nothing but copying the same lame things over and over again ,
regardless how shallow and stupid it may be as long as it promises the biggest success in terms of sold tickets- instead of challenging spectators, giving them some new impressions, something they can chew on ,something that may widen people's horizons instead of keeping them narrow and making people actively stupid!

@nukem11 Yeah shit like that just didn't happen in movies back then, i guess its still against the rules, very shocking. Carpenter said he kinda regrets it now.
Great score, as always, from Carpenter. The score is the best part of this awesome movie. I am glad that Carpenter is releasing some movies in the next couple of years. It has been too long.
...its a megablast. Bomb the bass rocked its socks off but I def still prefer the original. Was there anything that Carpenter couldnt do?!? Wouldnt be surprised if he could juggle fire and wrestle midgets.
This is it boys and girls. One of the fucking classics from the seventies. Do not try and remake solid gold. They tried and failed. Carpenter's most haunting movie. Halloween is the best horror on a head level but Precinct is chilling on an entirely different level. A movie that will stay with you.
soundtracks plus scripts and plots.... the man is legendary. if any director has a 100% success rate with all their movies.... john carpenter is the one guy who comes close.
Just watched it on Netflix. I want to get it, but I don't. Terminator, Road Warrior, Planet of the Apes (original), Westworld. I love all of those.
