  • this made me laugh so hard, its so true though, what he says. i love Lewis Black

  • I agree with this guy. Most politicians are backstabbing, self motivated, lying sacks of shit anyway. I want one who follows the Constitution .

  • Amen for that... lol

  • I agree..

  • It's sad that for all the strides in the fields of sanitation, technology, public health, medicine, and all those other things the bible offers no help with, we still believe in god(s). It's frustrating that science has ascended us so far in all of those fields, but the general public, who usurp all these gifts, still cannot evolve intellectually enough to realize that the bible is full of shit, and there are no gods. The bible is inclusive in mythology, get over it.

  • I disagree. I think I person with absolotely no social skills could run the country, as long as he runs it good.

  • I agree. Religion already has enough going against it. The addition of being involved in American politics would do nothing to strengthen any religion. It would only further denigrate the institutions of religion in America. Plus, with 38,000 demoninations of christianity alone, how would you determine what is adopted? This is only a shallow attempt by evangelicals to force feed there style of christianity on America. It is also an attempt to make America a Christian Nation.

  • Politics and Religion DO NOT belong together!

  • I was an activist in the 1960's. I'm a democratoc socialist and atheist. Since I viewed things in a systemic way, I didn't bother to vote for 30 years. I now see the Christian Right as a dangerous, fascist movement that has helped the ruling-class destroy our economy. I've become active again. On survival mode, from the island of Kauai. Aloha.

  • Amen!

  • one of the best routines you will ever see is louis doing the "2003 funniest celebrity in washington contest". skip to about 1:21:50 in the video, that''s when louis takes the stage. it's a c-span video. louis just rips into the bush administration without mercy. it is a beautiful thing.

  • @tomitstube ~ sorry, i did it again. it's "lewis".

  • Lewis Black...my hero..

  • why can't we just bring moral concerns about both torture and prenatal dismemberment to the table. Torture is also an incredibly divisive issue, yet Lewis Black has no problem taking a moral stand against it and bringing it into politics (as he should) Shouldn't the Pro-lifers do the same.

  • Religion is poisonous and clouds the judgment of politicians and the sheltered elite.

  • Why is religion so important to politicians? As Aristotle observed millenia ago, "A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side."

  • AMEN!

  • The point shouldn't be that Religion has no place in Politics. But rather that Religion has no relevance to Politics.

  • Of all the thing I can respect this man for, another has just been added. Refusing to use foul language because of potential viewers still in their childhood years? I'd like to hear people say that more often.

  • i don't know about mormons having a moral compass: their sacred text promotes racist and xenophobic ideas, they hate gays and many polygamists who follow the way of life of their 'prophet' have not only multiple wives, but sometimes little girls as wives. mormonism is a polygamy ranch cult

  • I keep thinking at the end of these clips he's going to say "I've been Lewis Black - And You Can Too!"... I've been watching too much Colbert

  • monotheism didn't come around until long after hinduism and egyptian gods...

  • Here's something funny - JEWS and QUEERS are allies. Just a fact for you.

  • Lewis in no George Carlin, who could be but, he's close and he's just as right

  • fuck religon is a pain

  • ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD!

  • gotta love him. greatest evva.

  • ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD

  • AMEN Lewis.......amen

  • LOL I've been feeling like this more and more over the past few years. I'm getting sick of hearing about it! From all of stupid grandstanding on the steps on congress over Terri Schiavo, Bush talking about it endlessly and now Beck, a Mormon, ironically, talking about Obama's Christianity... What the hell date is this? Have we regressed back to the Pilgram's treatment of Quakers? Some have a funny way of thinking about "religious freedom". They must think it just applies to them.

  • Yay, leat's worship Ronald McDon---

    ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD!!!

  • @UnderlordZ haha. that made my day. thanks

  • I try to be close to God but I don't want my politicians riding on the back of diety. They are running a country; not religion.

  • lol anyone of any age can watch his stand up where he cusses

  • wow, there's someone called LordJesus4Ever? Dude, stop watching this, LordJesus4Ever. This one isn't that funny, and you'll get struck with lightning from your god for watching it.

  • You will care.... one day. MARK my words

  • "I would normally use bad words here...just know that I am thinking them." LoL

  • Hit Bush,

    Rape Palin,

    and Kill the pope.

Do this and we should be closer to getting shit done!

  • @Sombomombo Can I volunteer to rape Palin? Please!!!!

  • @raithrover1976

lol if you got the van I got the turnips... um uh... nevermind

  • My god is more important than stupid politics!!!!

  • @Kdubslugga and who is your god? can i meet him?

  • @SparksDrinker You already have!!

  • @Kdubslugga damn, i must of been drunk, because i don't remember. i hope i didn't say anything stupid.

  • @SparksDrinker Like YOU have to be drunk to say something stupid!!!

  • @Kdubslugga god would be disappointed in you for insulting me. he would probably want you to apologize.

  • Halelujah, Amen :) Finally someone worth listen to.

  • TrooperRaven- Jefferson was a very vocal spokesman for separation of church and state. Crack a book open from time to time.

  • haha " though shall not attach electrically charger clamps to someone testicles" beautiful.

  • Ramen, Lewis, Ramen!!

  • Lewis, the problem is that there are millions and millions that do. Should they? No, but god=votes.

  • lewis black for pres....

  • i think he's brilliant and totally correct in all he's done.......!!!!

George Carlin is dead but let's here more from Lewis Black!!!!!

  • I wish more people thought like this guy!

  • i think it's funny that that the quotes i'm seeing have nothing to do with the actual video.

  • @TrooperRaven I'm just saying comments should be about the video and nothing else. But having said that, I regret posting this because what I'm posting has nothing to do with the video. I'm just writing my opinion and taking up space on a web page like you and everyone else who only posts their personal beliefs. And second of all, so what if he wants to deny God's influence of our government? He's trying to make money at being funny. That's his job as a comedian.

  • Of course I understand that Lewis Black is trying to be funny, it doesn't do anything for me, but I get it.

A man can deny anything he desires, but denying a thing doesn't make it so. There are plenty of things to poke fun at, and God isn't fazed by Man's fist shaking, but it is a dangerous and foolish thing to disregard our Creator. God created you and God created me. This undeniable truth is etched in our hearts like a sculptor's signature on his work.

  • @TrooperRaven well, like Lewis here, I'm an athiest, so I don't think a god created me. My parents did by fucking.

  • maybe we should put you in that locked room he was talking about.

  • Really? So God created the Earth in 6 days (yeah, I remember the Sabbath), but a Democratic Republic was so difficult that it took him thousands of years?

Our Founding Fathers kept God out of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence and I think Lewis's point is that a person's religion should have nothing to do with their qualifications for holding a political office.

  • "Our Founding Fathers kept God out of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence..."

You are correct in saying that there is no mention of God in the U.S. Constitution. However, you should try reading The Declaration of Independence. In it, you will find what you have denied exists.

  • I stand corrected. I forgot about the part about "Nature's God". It isn't referring to the Christian God though as most Christians believe however... at least not directly. Nature's God could be the god of any religion.

  • On the contrary. Take time to read the biographies of most of the signers of The Declaration of Independence and you will find that most, although not all, professed a faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. This is the "Creator" that is spoken of in the second sentence.

"Nature's God" is most definitely the Judeo Christian God, Yahweh.

The debate about separation of church and state is a relatively new one (just the last 50 years or so) and would have dumbfounded the founders.

  • Religion (any kind) has no place in Politics whether you believe in it or not. God takes no sides on issues pertaining to governments or people that is why he gave man free will and that is why Jesus supposedly died for our sins. You are supposedly answerable to god when you go to meet your maker. People who believe god will help them or Governments while they are on earth should go back and study there religion.

  • What you are saying is that you think there is no place in government for God. Of course, you are entitled to your opinion.

  • @686204 "god takes no sides on issues pertaining to governments or people" have you even READ the bible?

  • This attitude is best addressed in Paul's letter to the Romans. Chapter 1, beginning at verse 20, perfectly frames the atheist's dissent.

  • Fuck god

  • Be more specific.

  • In the ass with no lube

  • My mistake, I forgot the type of audience I'm dealing with. I see you failed to grasp the meaning behind my request for more specificity.

Let's try this again. To which god precisely are you referring?

  • @acexxxking I think TrooperRaven wants you to pick an orifice, ace. :P

  • lol I told him where

  • I am familiar with these quotes of Jefferson and agree with the sentiment of both. As to what Jefferson would be appalled by, or what beliefs he might have rejected were he alive today, no one can say. What one can factually say is that he signed a document that welcomed the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob into the very heart of this young republic.

  • whatever - read between his lines (not that you really have to)....one can factually say he wrote these quotes that i posted....he obviously valued reason over ALL - if you can't get that from his own writings, than I don't know what - signing a political document - wherein compromise is always needed - doubtfully showed his truest intent. The bible was plagiarized - he would realize that if he were still alive...it's obvious. We have more readily available REASONABLE evidence today.

  • Ahh I love his rants...

  • Amen!

  • this is so funny and so true at the same time....love this!

  • His book was great, but a little surprising. I always assumed that he was a fellow atheist. He definitely is not.

  • lol, I guess thats why he calls his book, me of LITTLE faith :P

  • The idea of Jesus as part of a trinity was a Greek PAGAN concept adopted by early Christian missionaries to gain converts among the Greeks, and did not become a widely accepted Christian doctrine until after the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D

  • who cares

  • You couldn't be more mistaken.

  • Ey-Man!

  • AAAAAAMEN!

  • Hate to tell you this brainiac, but concepts of "bad", "good" and "moral" predate the belief systems that support one God. Being Monotheistic, or having any Religious belief system isn't the end all--be all to being moral. You simply were offended by Lewis and waded into a subject where you're out of your depth

  • @MarkatLSU You obviously don't understand the idea that morality is a gift from God do you? We need to assume God is real and monotheism is true. So, if it is true then it does not matter if people did not believe in God at the beginnings of mankind because He, I mean to say God, still exists. Therefore, if God instilled morality in all of us then the fact that monotheism was not adopted IS IRRELEVANT.

  • @Jtmoney363636 Morality isnt a gift from god, your morality is based on how YOU feel about something or how YOU react to something or someone. If our morality came from god everyone would think the exact same way on every single subject, obviously we dont so god dosent give us morality we do. A quick example some people lie and some dont, some people steal and some dont and the list gose on.

  • @USMCsniperboy Everybody would not think the same way at all because we are also endowned free will. Morality is not based upon how people feel unless you are saying that the inclination to murder and rape is morality.

  • @Jtmoney363636 actualy if you think about it, it is

  • @USMCsniperboy Well than you and I have a different definition of morality I guess ha.

  • @Jtmoney363636 Aparently we do. Morality is the your personal reasons for doing something, thats it. My point is if morlity was god given I think we would see much more consitancy

  • @USMCsniperboy Why would it be more consistent if everybody still has free will? Or is free will and morality tied together? Idk this is a tough question altogether though.

  • @Jtmoney363636 I believe that free will is verry much tied into morality, because it is still your choice, and you decide on something based on how you feel, or what you believe is right, and if god gave us morality Im sure he or she would make shure we all walked the same path so we can all go to heaven or whatever...that would be way easier then gettn some chick pregnent, and send your child to die

  • @Jtmoney363636 Morality is a gift from God? Look, I believe in God, and would like to think that by taking the high moral ground that I am some how being influenced by him, but I am also aware of the fact that I might be completely delusional.

Surely he would prefer the gift and homage of reason than that of blindfold faith. So please, don't make inconclusive statements like that.

    Oh, and Amen, Lewis.

  • @smo699 I am also aware that I can be the same way. If morality is not from God how did it develop? Please do not say its what benefits society because I can think of many things that benefit society that are clearly immoral. It is a tough question, but I believe that morality is a good argument for religion.

  • @Jtmoney363636 Ok, so just for argument's sake, what immoral act could ever benefit society? War, perhaps? But, war is generally and morally acceptable, even when innocent civilians are accidentally involved. My point is that morality could be the subjective notions of innate and objectively acceptable actions within society for self-preservation. So my question is, "when is war morally acceptable?" When its 'means to an end' is for self-preservation? Also, search "utilitarianism."

  • @smo699 I am not talking about war and I do know what utilitarianism is. So, society (at least in America right now) has millions of people who are contributing nothing to society. There are also millions of AIDS carriers and other disease ridden people. I would never condone this act, but it would arguably benefit the world to kill off all of these people in a strictly financial and health standpoint of course.

  • @Jtmoney363636 Utilitarianism is the moral worth of an action determined by its outcome. And, the moral worth of AIDS you've expressed is in support of population control for financial and health reasons. Point taken, and I won't argue that cynical approach for the sake of self-preservation, the ultimate goal. I do, however, disagree in that the possibility of spreading the disease 'far' outweighs the points you've just made. Consequently, the support of AIDS has no moral worth, and is immoral.

  • Take your religious fanaticism out of here you moron. You clearly are out of your league in this situation. You clearly are not Jewish ((I took a look at your profile)) so please do not use our greeting and goodbye as if you were. Go be crazy somewhere else.

    Pay attention;

it got important, when the right winged radicals

decided they could target several based groups that are extremely loyal to which they pander too or should i say selectively use. the evangelicals are pandered to by whom?

  • AMEN!

  • try locking up a dog and a cat in one cage and that's what would happen if you'll lock up all religions to agree who the one true god is in one room if they can come out alive LOL

  • There are quite a few religions that would just sit there and be happy that they are all different ways of being right. Including some sects of Islam and Christianity.

  • yep u sed it

  • Go kick some ass Lewis!

  • If you hate this video, why are you commenting it? Lame.

  • If you think it's lame. Why did you watch it? Lame.

  • Amen Lewis, A-fuckin-men.

  • Amen! I'm probably about as sick of the abortion arguments as he is.

  • DAMN RIGHT LEWIS!! This man is GOD! i love him

  • fuck your impotent god

frisbeeratism is the only true religion

  • u r the lost one.

  • youll find out how you waisted your life following your false god when your dead

embrace frisbeeratism and free your soul

  • Aww, but don't count out the Pastafairians.

  • Yes, thank you Lewis

  • This guy is so funny. Carlin will always be my favorite comedian, but Lewis Black is good to listen to now that George Carlin and Bill Hicks are not here anymore.

  • Hey Ive been looking at lewis all day. i`am danish and didn`t know you had a character like that in amerika.

You need people like him- and- the best country in the world, must of course have the best. off all kinds of stuff. i need a tshirt.

  • Lewis Black is the best. He makes you laugh while at the same time using his humor to point out the actual craziness of our society and actually makes people stop and think about what he's saying. We really need him now that George Carlin is gone. AMEN Lewis!

  • AMEN!

I saw Lewis Black live in the U.K. last month. He was hilarious! Go see him if you can.

  • AMEN!

    Great book, by the way!

  • Sing it!

  • AMEN!!! This guy should b a fuckn public speaker/priest/saint/whatever! He speaks the truth!

  • He IS a public speaker... And he's way too honest to be a priest.

  • Umm its not about any history, Lets think of our future an focus on food and love, its that simple, youl have jobs from growing produce sellin and eating contests, lol, but seriously lets start a global family and unify our minds! AMEN!! hahahaha your to funny Lewis, I sentence you to a thousand years of laughter. Court Adjourned bitches.

  • I DONT CARE!!

    testify, brother!

  • Lewis black would have made a hell of a Vice President

  • ...Amen?

  • Has anyone read his book yet? Is it worth buying?

  • I'm reading it at the moment. I find it very good. He talks about the ups and downs of religion, it isn't a book that blindly bashes what it doesn't believe in, like some people seem to think it is.

  • u christians took our freedom of speech

  • Don't forget personal liberties secularism. Those are gone, too.

  • Agreed to both.

  • not to mention dumbed down society through religious slavery, i mean servitude.

  • So, how is my non-religion protected from you people?

    Quid pro quo.

  • I could watch him all day long.

  • I like Lewis Black, but the Bible reads like an instructional booklet on torture.

  • Lewis Black for President!

  • triple topic comment:

    1) I like this video

2)there should be a merit badge system in prayer groups so we don't have assholes like Bush or O'reilly trying to fake a moral highground

    3) there is also a religious left; they may not be as loud, obnoxious or wealthy as the religious right, but believe me that they are just as stupid

  • butchdeadlift10, thank you! You're telling the truth.

  • lewis black, george carlin and denis leary are as important to me as Aristotle, Plato, and Socrates. In all cases they never lied to comfort themselves. They could only sleep if they spoke their minds in their entirety. those are my role models (well I have more role models but I feel they don't pertain too the topic)

  • I feel the same way as you. Why should we lie to ourselves to comfort themselves? I like listening to the words of people like Lewis Black, Bill Maher, George Carlin, Bill Hicks, and Denis Leary. They try to apply logic to religion and they see its flaws and I agree on them on why they don't see eye to eye with what religious zealots try to force upon others.

  • do not forget that the zealots only lead groups of more rational sympathizers. I learned its best to talk to every body individually to make peace with cultural rivals. Sincere, patient and direct conversation will give anyone with the heart to listen the attitude of "live & let live".

  • "It is written, "The fool has said in his heart, there is no God." "

The wise man says it out loud.

  • "And then I was like, "That's great" "

  • HAHA> Lewis Black is awesome.

  • I think we as realists keep running into walls because we use the word opinion. religious people are convinced that without their particular faith, the world is going to fall to shit without spirituality. Spirituality to me can only grow if you DON'T become dogmatic about one faith. But to the original point, hell is bullshit and thats not an opinion, because saying santa is bullshit is not an opinion, its a fact. We construct our reality yes, but it still subjected to the laws of nature.

  • lewis black is jewish.

  • lewis rules! however, i havent found any clip where he said anything about scientology though, is he one of them?

  • Blah blah blah, I been looking through these comments, and I all I got to say! Keep your thoughts, religions, and politics to your damn selves! Yeah, put your two cents in and thats it! I don't need a god damn book to make me happy! Lewis Black your the man, I'll be checking that book out sometime soon! I'm not going to warship some S head I've never met, and never will meet, because it's ALL A LIE!! HaHa!!! See you in hell! Oh wait, can't go there if I don't believe in it!

  • I don't disagree, but don't be a hypocrite - keep your opinions to yourself.

  • Mondryjustin: "Keep your opinions to yourselves, bitches! By the way, here's my opinion..."

In other words, nobody other than him is allowed to state their opinion. He is the sole Champion of Truth! All he says is right! All hail Mondryjustin! All hail!

P.S. Mondry, please do the world a favor. Don't reproduce. Not that any woman in her right mind would mate with you, but just in case, let your bloodline die. It's for the best.

  • Hehe, Mondryjustin sent me a private message:

"Hey Jack knob! I got just the right to state my opinion as anyone else!...(more bullshit that I don't have room for.)"

So basically, he just confirmed my last comment about him. In his original comment, he says "Keep your thoughts, religions, and politics to your damn selves," but then gets pissy when someone mocks him for being a hipocritical dick-hole who states his own opinion, but doesn't think anyone else should be able to. Lolz. He so cool.

  • yeah keep your shit to your self tard.
