  • how far can it shoot

  • is the catapult under 1 meter tall?

  • @petrenko1334 lol im guessing u have same problem as me? Grade 11 physics project?

  • @MrSmokeythedragon ya but 12th grade

  • @petrenko1334 oh really thas weird though we have to build this by this week for the testing and it must shoot about a 10m accurate target and be 1mX1m project

  • Can i make a stronger catapult by switching the scale sizes?

  • thanks for the video! i built one for my physics class, just made it half the size. if you twist the rope hard as fuck it builds up so much tension! im about to blast jello in all these nerds faces!

  • How many Screws did you approximately use?

  • how far did the object travel?

  • your blueprints aren't detailed enough. you didnt put the thickness of the string, the thickness of the wood, how large the holes are(in diameter)

  • Okay thank you so much! You're a lifesaver.

  • my thing isn't going very far. What are some possible mistakes

  • Can this launch a 2 pound pumpkin 10m or further?

  • @SuperJOBAD no, probably not.

  • @SuperJOBAD For something like that you have to check out my big trebuchet.

  • @epicfantasy what about a mini pumpkin?

  • @SuperJOBAD hey where you live cuz my school has to do the same thing =P

  • what is the website

  • what were the measurements for each part???

  • @RheaBear34 assembly procededure is on my website.

  • how wide is it i need to make a catapult that will fit in a 1 meter square

  • @spenspen3 This catapult should fit. Is it a 1 meter cube? I am not sure about if the swing arm is within the cube.

  • @epicfantasy no just a 1 meter square not a cube btw thanks so much

  • What scale of this catapult would you suggest to be ideal to launch a projectile 10 meters far and around 3 meters high? And how long should our rope be?

  • How far would this fling a golf ball? We're doing a catapult project at school and the main requirement is to fling it 10 yards, and we don't want to spend money to make another catapult if this doesn't work. Also, do you happen to know if the angle of the arm to the base is pretty close to 45 degrees?

  • It would of been better to she him make it with him facing the camera to see what he is doing alot better.

  • @alyssy0011 i meant see not she

  • lol goes so fast, reminds me of runescape

  • wyvern in magic the gathering portals a good card =)

  • approx how far can this launch say a tennis ball? and would it be possible to combine the torsion from the rope with a spring being pulled back or is that just overkill and would mess it up?

  • how far can that launch a squirrel??

  • he sounds like a woodpeker when he's hammering

  • @102fuzzbuzz lol

  • How far can this catapult launch say a beanie baby?

  • @missywhipcream dunno but pretty far

  • Im not used to buying wood. How much will all of this stuff cost to build this catapult

  • I'm planning to build a torsion catapult that's 6 ft by 4 ft how much rope will I need to launch a orange or like a honey due melon 100 yards?

  • how much will all of these supplies cost and where'd you get all of them

  • if i wind more rope will it be more powerful and can i also make it 2 feet widde by 2 feet long???? olz respond

  • @ivankarpich yes more rope is more power, the size is flexible

  • would the catapult work the same way if i made it narrower, for example instead of 15 inches i made it 12 inches

  • can someone tell me what the website is to go to to get the plans for the catapult in the video? It for my son for a project.

    Thanks

  • nice

whats the range? and how accurate is it?

  • @lucas70088 shut the fuck up, he works very hard, he does not want hates like you on his fucking videos, so shut the hell up, and get out of this page

  • Thumbs if the snap of the launch scared the crap out of you.

  • hey can i use a the elastic bands you use to exercise?

im making this catapult for physics

  • @1piecemage I can't say for a fact that you can use them but I say go for it and see if they work! Just be safe and wear goggles in case they break.

  • Lol the broomsticks moved when you shot it the first time

  • What is the maximum distance something can be launched from this catapult?

  • i am making something like this for school but does it matter how big the arm is? need help please mssg asap thanks, also how what are you using to tie up the string on the side, thanks again

  • i built this for my school and got 3rd place....not bad since this is made out of materials from the old days.....everyone else built theirs with bungee cords

  • tried to do this today.. .everything went well till we tightened our rope and it snapped...

also made our catapult frame crooked...

    this is so sad... :'(

  • @1337tim Not sad at all! You actually built one. You are ahead of the game. Now take a break and then work on it some more! Get a stronger rope and add some wood to straighten out and strengthen the base! You are 90% of the way there!

  • what is your website?

  • @K00L9 found it stormthecastle

  • looks like he has adhd

  • YOu can hammer really fast :)

  • Is there any way I can make the Wyvern Catapult but smaller? Would it still work if I equally decreased all the measurements? The dragon one is too small.

  • @ethiochick105 yes, you can make a smaller version, just reduce all the measurements by half. except for the swing arm. That you will have to custom measure.

  • Is there any way I can make the the Wyvern Catapult but smaller? Would it still work if I equally decreased all the measurements? The dragon one is too small.

  • i am making a 6 foot catapult based on your schematics (with a few simple modifications of my own :) ) thanks a lot for posting your videos. they really helped.

  • This is an awesome Catapult

but how far can this launch say an aluminum foil?

i need to make one that can atlest launch it to 8m

  • This is an awesome Catapult

but how far can this launch say an aluminum foil?

i need to make one that can atlest launch it to 8m

  • how far could this launch a softball? i need to launch one 20 meters

  • can i make a mini version?

  • @ducttapestuff12 Yes, I have a mini version on my website. It's called The Little Dragon Trebuchet. You can just google it to find it easily.

  • The sound of the Hammer is very cool xD

  • Really cool. Try getting a top shot next time you do this. Would be really clear video. (top shot is shot from above)

  • @xspondeex This is a great idea. Thanks. This way people could get another view of how it is build Thanks.

  • Hey, do you think you could give me the measurements of the wood and the length and type of the rope. I really enjoyed the video and would like to challenge myself with a project like this so any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • @jakeyd27 Sure, there are complete instructions with measurements and more on my website.

  • honestly you should consider selling these to high school students

  • It's a nice way to built a light power hammer or threadle hammer without the need for steel springs: use the rope instead! And this spring is tunable too, by turning the broomstick pieces a little more or a little less you can adjust the tension.

    Nice video.

  • hey great project!!

how far did it shoot, would you say at least 25 yards?

  • Is the rope is the power?

  • would i be able to make this bigger by proportiantly increasing everythings size, and would that increase the power of it or possible distance? Also, what would you consider the most, i guess powerfull rope to use, or how can i alter this design to mazimize distance.

  • @hasanmahdiink Yes, bigger allows for more power. Nylon rope tends to work pretty good because it has a lot of flex in it.

  • I've built a few trebuchets. Stroke length is a big deal with that. Would moving the arm's pivot point back or the stop forward increase the range or is there no benefit in doing that. I also wondered if adding a sling was possible. The couple attempts I've made with torsion and a sling have been "iffy". Maybe you have went that route too and have some advice. Hard to keep the damn projectile in the pouch.

  • @MrJMan887 You are absolutely right about increasing the range by moving the pivot point back. But, it takes more force so you should add more weight. And, the pouch can be a tricky thing. Try making it bigger. SHould work better and still open fine. Keep me posted. Siege engineering can be tricky.

  • My goal is to make a catapult out of balsa wood with a 20'' length, and it has to shoot a 5 lb pumpkin. would you say it is possible? thanks, your videos are excellent

  • @BavAuto54 wow, that's a lot of pumpkin! I don't think 20 inches will be anywhere near big enough. And balsa wood isn't very strong!

  • @epicfantasy yes, it sure won't fire 5 lbs. I'd be lucky if I get 1 out of it. I am using a synthetic twine and it is bending the dowels and ready to snap them. thanks for your help though, the "how to string your catapult" was very useful. i'll let you know what the teacher thinks!

  • How thick is your rope you're using

  • i used chainsaw pull cord.. bought twenty feet of it... works good!!

  • @twotut2002 Nice! Thanks for the idea. Chainsaw pullcord is very durable.

  • The sound of your hammer in the speed frame mode is cool! sounds like a mini- jackhammer!

  • @LightPinkDaisy I launched it indoors so couldn't measure it but it will go ten yards.

  • what kind of rope is that

  • @k589 I think its a nylon rope. The type of rope will make a difference and you might have to experiment with rope types.

  • next time you should put the camera in front of you

  • good vid but at the end how far does it go? It looks like a couple of metres.

  • what is your websties name?

  • @TheHow2vids stormthecastle(.)com

  • ok thanx, i tried to make it but i still need way longer twine and stronger wood, my wood broke because of the tension. well, keep making awesome vids!

  • Next time can you buildt it between you and the camera? Thanks. I would soooooooooo love to be able to hire someone talented like you to build dog props for us if you lived close by......(sigh).

  • ok, for the rope i know that you used nylon rope but does twine work too and how much wiuld you need

  • @jf67280 Twine would probably work but you have to use a lot of it. Get as many wraps as you can in there.

  • You seems like a nice guy, Congratz to a great video, Can you please! make a tutorial! please!

  • @WebShareMusic Got lots of catapult tutorials on my website. Including how to make this one!

  • this is a nice design. how far does it shoot a golf ball.

  • him hammering them nails in high speed is funny :D

  • If you have tried this how far does it go?

  • What keeps the broom sticks from spinning backwards and releasing the torsion?

  • Good question. The torque of the rope will hold the broom sticks in place and they will force up against the ground which holds them in place.

  • ty sooooo much! my awesome science teacher told us to make a catapult and i think this 1 will win! yay!

  • me 2 =D hahaha

  • the camera should be on the other side

  • i made it!!!!!!!!!!!!!:( im disapointed it dose not go far!

it only went about 20 ft!

i thought it would go way farther

  • Congratulations on making the wyvern catapult! You can definitely tweak it and work on it to get better performance, changing, doubling up or shortening the bungee cord helps a lot. The angle that the swing arm stops at will make a big difference too, try lowering or raising the cross bar.

  • I like it.....But can you catapult something like a tomato?

  • lol, That would be fun!

  • it needs the yakkity yak theme...

but thanks i need to build one for school =D

  • lol! Yup, either yakkity yak or that music from Benny Hill!

  • ROFL

  • Thanks for the video. I advise you to change the position of the camera for the next time. ( side or front view would be better - in my opinion )

  • @bulliethepirate definatly

  • are these 2*3?

  • These are 2x4's but you can use 2x3's just as easily.

  • your hammer was funny but how did you tighten the rope with the red handels i dont get it???

  • My son and I have used your design and instruction for the smaller torsion catapult. Wonderful opportunity here for him to enter into an exhibition using this larger model. Any chance you've posted the materials list details somewhere - I've looked and cannot seem to find them.

  • sure do have the plans and tutorial. Go to my website stormthecastle and do a search for the Ogre Catapult. should come up.

  • I'm planning on build this catapult for a school project. I searched your site and couldn't find the plans for this particular one. I looked at the others but The Wyvern is the one that fits the requirements the best... It'd be really nice if you post the plans, dude. Your work is awesome!

  • Hehe. You're making that on a ping-pong table. =)

  • lol, yup! Underneath the ping pong table is a pool table!

  • lol under that, do you keep the Holy Grail?

  • ROFL!

  • what type of rope did you use in this video?

  • It's a nylon rope

  • Catapults are fun, but they just dont cut it in the modern world.

Please post instructional videos on how to make more powerful weapons, like explosives or stealth bombers?

  • lol! A stealth bomber? hmmm. that would be fun!

  • that hammer sound is pretty cool

copy and past if u agree

  • That hammer sound in high speed really cracks me up. You are right about it. I am surprised nobody else commented about it.

  • can you make a close up video on how to tie the string please thanks

  • Sure, already made one. its in my catapult playlist. Video id is:

    PRSBKm1encM

  • how heavy is the catapult? thx

  • how heavy is the catapult? thx

  • how far did it go

  • that hammer sound is pretty cool

    eehehheheh (coffee patch)

  • Its AMAZING what you can accomplish with 127 cups of coffee:)!

  • lol!

  • AWESOME! yet another great craft by you. Kepp up the good work!

  • THanks, I am considering doing a seriously large catapult this summer. Gotta think about it.

  • wow very smart and nice construction smart ppl these days =p

  • Thats so awsome!

You helped me so much tnx man

  • You are very welcome.

  • Can it launch hand-grenades?

  • how do you wrap the string? comment back asap

  • Part of the reason why I made this larger catapult is so I can use it to make a tutorial on how to wrap the string. It will help if you make my smaller Torsion catapult too. Today I will do a close up video showing how to wrap the string. It should be a big help to catapult makers. To see that smaller, table top catapult mangonel check out my playlist on siege engines.

  • Nice job!

    Let's all hope..

The cat doesn't try to sleep on it:)

  • ROFL! I should put some nice soft bedding on the end of the catapult arm and if he falls asleep on it....... whoosh, CAT-a - PULT!!!

  • wow

  • Thanks, more catapults coming for sure.

  • You should paint it and put some detail on it, that would be cool.

  • real nice vid will

i sswear the catapults just get bigger and bigger :P

  • Maybe this summer I will make one that will be the end all and be all of catapults! Would be cool.

  • nice

  • niiice

  • sweet....
