  • Is Ann Sothern from the Lucy Desi Comedy hour episode where they go to cuba and she plays Suzy?

  • @9ALLEN9 yes. She also played the voice of the mother in the show My Mother the Car with Jerry Van Dyke.

  • i love lucy i love desi i love vivian and william so much r.i.p

    xoxo

  • I remember seeing this on its first original run. I was 8 years old.

  • He still had that perfect sense of comedic timing right to the end. Who else could deliver a one-liner like "OK", with a sly look and get a laugh? How kind of Lucy to pay homage to his "Fred Mertz" character. I believe this was his final public appearance, so it was fitting for her to give him his last acting job. RIP all, for the countless hours of laughter you continue to give the world.

  • As he aged, William Frawley became even more likeable and soft hearted, if I can use that word.

This clip was filmed shortly before his passing ??

    RIP Fred Mertz.

  • I loved William Frawley on My Three Sons as "Bub" in the 1960's as the original Uncle Charlie. It's so sad to think that he died of a heart attack in March/1966 while walking home from a movie theatre with little or no help from anybody around him. William Frawley was also a notable Vaudville actor in the same league as Allen Hale Sr. (or better) from the "Silent Movie Era" of the early 20th Century. May he R.I.P.

  • @MegaTmarshall That's not entirely true. He died while accompanied by his constant companion for nearly two years, a male nurse, whom he was with nearly 24/7 since a prostate cancer operation left him very weak. It was this nurse who helped drag him to the nearby Hollywood Knickerbocker Hotel, where an ambulance was called and he was pronounced dead on arrival at the Hollywood Receiving Hospital.

I had also heard that he had just finished signing a number of autographs when he collapsed.

  • @TrojanJustin Thank you for the info. I'm always glad to hear the rest of the story.

  • @DJSexLeopard He Died in 1966. He was 79 years old.

  • No full episodes?

  • I miss William Frawley.

    He was good.

  • Bill always looked way older than Vivianne, lucy and Desi. thankyou for sharing. this is neat to see them together after the show.

  • @ChandlerandMonica83 That's because he was way older, by 20 years.

  • Classic scene. Thank you posting. I only saw this as a Lucy Show rerun in the '80s, many years after I'd grown up watching that show as CBS morning reruns after it left prime time. Great to see them together b4 Bill passed. Lucy's wig was gorgeous here, wish she'd worn it more often in the show.
