Vick, about 10 years ago Jeff McBride put out a booklet called Magician 24/7. Mark Wilson about 20 years ago in his famous Course in Magic also stresses the point, and about 80 years ago Harlan Tarbell was talking about it too. All the greats learned it, when will you? The best magician is the one who performs the most, if you're not performing at every chance you get, you'll never be the best. That's fine with me, I'll pick up the clients you never knew you lost.

WRONG, trained monkeys do "tricks" on command. All professional performers should act as such. Does someone ask Anthony Hopkins do Shakespeare ion the street and expect it? If you jump at every little command the client will expect it always . That being said there are an endless amount of impromptu effects to be used in the right situations. See Tarbell Vol 1 to 8 (books penguin may never tell you about because they contain more magic in 8 books that the entire penguin site)

@Penguinmagic -Lol @ "We actually do carry it". I guess he spoke too soon. I actually had people at a party tell me to do magic, so I had them all repeat "perform monkey", and they did, and I performed and they loved it! So sometimes you can make good use of being a performing monkey. Especially if you are a magician. It does seem to be expected of you. There is a time and place for us monkeys to perform. If you can't be a monkey, you should get out of doing monkey business :)
