  • ewww i'm dead scared of worms but if i'm going to New Zealand is this worth seeing?

  • @whatthefunnyword Yeah, they can only be found there, and I think you can go by boat through the caves as a tour.

  • ewwww disgusting but amazing and too think i'm playing a retro game, (glow worms)

    haha

  • This is amazing! Why dont they teach this at my school?!

  • 3:44 BRAIIINNNSSS!

  • Cool its like spider webs

  • "Once stuck, there is no escape."

Sure there is. Just hit the thing with your crowbar.

  • @eesgooshee Nice Half Life reference :)

  • that was amazing and gross at the same time too :[

  • I wish I could see this live. Damn it must be amazing....

  • So they puke out mucus than eat the mucus. That is disgusting. :(

  • Smart worms

  • Who said anything about where the Sun don't shine? lolol.

  • WOW.....what if human puked in tiny little bags tied together like that, and then just hung it on someones roof...? :O

  • remind me of the hanging thing from Half Life!

  • That was so god damn cool.

But let's just say I wouldn't want to go near the things. Near enough to see them eat some insects, but not enough for me to get trapped. I'd rather drown then have a larger version of that thing slowly devour me.

    ...-shudder-

  • Oh shit I'm gonna be sick X(

  • they looks like crawling inside their own body

  • lol, i went there yesterday, i live in new zealand, fuck the water is cold!!

  • Just went to Dismals Canyon yesterday in Alabama to see these guys, pretty awesome stuff

  • the worm looks like a liquid lol

  • We recently visited the Mt Tamborine (Cedar Creek Glow-worm Caves (in SE QLD ) and we have our DOUBTS in the Validity of this very short man made Cave. After viewing youtube and researching, it would be worthwhile a reporter to investigate this cave. The gardens, the construction of the cave and the wines are all amazing but the tourist attraction or lure would be the Glow-worms.

  • I've seen these IRL. They're pretty amazing.

  • one day, maybe humans can clone n get such glow genetic capacity... perhaps on our hair ... or our fingertips? dont suggest else where which are not really necessary... then we perhaps.. dont need to use so much electricity n light bulbs ? jus kidding..

  • at first i thought it was stars !! so amasing

  • Magnífico!!

  • Close cousins of these glow-worms are found in abundance at Dismals Canyon, in north Alabama, United States. Its a very unusual group of flies, very closely related to the fungus gnats found in Australia and New Zealand. The insects use the light to attract tiny flying insects into a web-like substance. They are known locally as Dismalites.

  • @r2d2sue thanks for mentioning that, i was hoping i would not have to take an international flight to see something like this!

  • Those are some badass worms.

  • Those things are crazy! They're like those things from half-life, lol.

You think the film makers might have brought a bunch of bugs with them to feed to the worms?

  • i want the ceiling in my room to look like this!! without the actual worms of course... ;]

  • Beautiful :)

  • OMG, it's full of stars! :P

  • ive seen this... its so beautiful... looks like stars... (@gold coast, australia)

  • This is part of a documentary currently on tv.

    Pretty fascinating. :)

  • do they have a type of skin or do they just move their organs through the silk? I can't tell.

  • insects, insects, insects....will you ever learn that glowing lights are usually things that will kill you? haha

  • If you live in inner earth this is your sky.

  • H. P. Lovecraft's Christmas lights.

  • how disgusting!

  • Nature is amazing, not disgusting.

You probably have worms in your gut right now from all the meat and junk food you eat.

I suppose you work in a cubicle, shop at the mall and drive everywhere.

All hail, the sanitization of everyday life.

  • i dont work in a cubicle and i dont drive im only 13

  • The idea of glowworms and fireflies is fun to play with, (like in art) but the actual bugs are pretty gross.

  • GROSS

  • I thought it was the sky at first

  • i will go there next week ,,,,,also ruakuri &aranui cave

  • See you there! I'll be the naked guy with wandering hands!

  • LOL

  • woah gross... i saw this in class

  • i got the same video, its on dvd, its awesome, even tho its scientific, it is awesome :P

  • so amazing.

  • That... was... AWESOME!!

  • that is most definatly the most fucked up animal in the world ahahaha but i wonder if its good at "fishing" i wonder what fishing with the worm would be like xD

  • they dont even need batteries :-0

  • They must add sound effects afterward.

  • What documentary is this from?

  • this is from planet earth, the caves eppisode.

  • Freaky. I like how they look like stars.

  • The sticky thing they drop remind me of the plant the eats bugs. forgot whats the name. I'm sure it's not too sticky, but sticky enough for bugs

  • venus flytrap?

  • It was the Drosera capensis...I seen the flytrap as well. I took picz, not good 1 though. Stupid cam...Saw them in canada. They grow on the type of weird soil. Believe it has to be moist

  • kinda gross but very instersting!

  • I would totally let a couple of those chill on my ceiling, specially if they got rid of all the damn bugs coming in and out.

  • would be awesome against mosquitoes ^^

  • @wakkawakka101 same here

  • I watched this in class today!! That under water cave thing that was on this vid. was very cool!!

  • we wached this same exact video in class today

  • they look like stars

  • LOL @ 2:15!!!

Really disgusting (especially the wet, squelchy noises!) but nonetheless miraculous.

  • Yeah It's from Planet Earth, beautiful and inspiring creatures. Miracles exist. ;P

  • lol. i watched this video in science. i thought what the hell are they showing stars for. then i saw strands of blue and i thought if i was there i would run through them. then i thought hell no.

  • Isn't this waikato cave in nz? I'm sure of it cuz i've been there before

  • It's Waitomo caves I'm sure cuz I was there when when I lived there

  • they remind of the barnacles in Half life 2

  • It's because they ARE the same thing.

  • well not really the barnacles are bigger and have a tongue that hangs down and have really sharp teeth and they are aliens

  • I meant in design, these glow worms inspired the design of them. So in concept, they are the same.

  • lol wopps my bad

  • omg i did saw something like that but not glowing in the tree was alot of webs ALOT its like a huge cacon lol but its bautiful only scary:P

  • Wow, those glow worm lights are awesome!!! They make "pearl" necklaces that catch their prey...

  • it wud make a good xmas tree

  • COOL but sticky lol

  • from where is this clip taken?!

David attenborough?! love him, someone please answer!

  • It's from David Attenborough's Life collection, 'Life in the Undergrowth' - the clip is from the Waikato Caves in New Zealand.

  • Actually, its from the series "Planet Earth"

  • I'd hate to fall through a few hundred of those traps with my face.. And I thought spider web was annoying :P

  • cool

  • i saw this in my biology class lol
