could someone sent me link where i could download this film( Fur, An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus- with N. Kidman)for free? i just have seen trailer and it looks amazin, thank u .
Art shouldn't be, or have to be explained. It should speak for itself . A lot of American art is accompanied by sales talk. It's not really art, but they make people believe it is.
When I first encountered her work, in a book I found at a local camera store in the 1980's, all I could do was laugh and gawk at what was obviously a well crafted and witty catalog of ugly freaks and misfits. Later, as the images sunk in, I stopped laughing and came to realize a great appreciation and sympathy for her subjects - and that she had greatly expanded my own understanding of the nature of beauty.
@lovedanse96 Love in her work? don't you think she's imposing a freakishness on some incredibly ordinary people at times? i really don't see love or compassion in her work at all. and i don't see her penetrating the soul of human kind either. i see alienation, like she's examining specimens under a jar. and absolutely no identification with her subjects. curiosity on both parts, yes
Infinite, infinite thanks to you for posting this. I don't know where you found it, but thanks so much. It' AMAZING to sit and take in every word that she spoke on that day of class.

Doon is a very skilled editor. She worked on new editions and reissues of Diane's books, and Avedon's 'The Sixties' and 'Alice in Wonderland'.
She's also a very good writer.
