I have 3 guitars a Gibson SG Standard Ebony, Gibson Les Paul Supreme and a Gibson Les Paul Studio Wine Red. I recently played this in a guitar shop and it literally SUCKS. @gerfetil I never knew they existed until I got mine as a gift. They're cheap "budget" guitars and stopped production of them a while ago (they were only around for a little while). You'll see them on ebay most of the time, but they're usually garbage versions. It's hard finding a decent one, though I guess you can't expect much from a budget guitar. I do projects with them.
IM not knocking Gibson, they are awesome...But let us not be arrogant and forget Jackson, Ibanez, ESP and the Caparison...favoring one brand will only limit your potential regardless of new technology...
I had an ESP LTD and i'll admit it was pretty good, but the sound overall was spotty, so i went and tried different guitars. I've tried Dean guitars, but they also had a spotty, inconsistent sound. It's all about preference. I own and play different basses, including a Gibson LP BFG bass, Fender Jag bass, MM stringray5, Ibanez SR800 (fretted and fretless), can't say which I like better, but Gibson's deffinitely got the right idea about super loud pups/circuitry and making it passive was a good choice, no battery needed there, but to say that it's the best, I cannot, I do like it the most of any bass I've owned and played so far, but I don't limit it to having any other brand being favored

I've owned and sold guitars for thousands of dollars, including a $3000 PRS Custom, I have family members who've owned several Gibsons and I didn't like any of them (especially not at the price they cost). Gibson guitars have a lot of design flaws, they work very poorly for a lot of genres, and even though I'll admit they work well for some players in some styles, they are NOT everyone's idea of a great guitar. I could very well afford one, but I don't want one.

@xiiiDethroned When I bought my Bugera Tube Amp I tested it out with a Gibson Les Paul Studio ($1300 Version), and when I set it up at home, I played it with my Ibanez RG120 (Custom INF Pickups - $300 altogether) and it sounded better. I know the Studio doesn't do the Les Paul name justice, but for $1000 less I had a more tonal sounding guitar. You have to give Ibanez credit for the Wizard neck, them fuckers are THIN as hell.

I'm not too sure if the self tuning part of the guitar takes the magic away from the guitar. I might just be a bit mad saying that but after I've finished tuning a guitar it's makes playing it all that sweeter
@morbideddie I understand that you people overseas have to pay more for guitars that we do in the U.S., but even the newer Dusk Tiger guitar costs no more than any number of Les Paul models, and significantly less than most of the signature model Les Pauls. You couldn't give me this thing, but if I was a gigging solid-body guitarist, I'd certainly be thinking about buying one.
i have no problem with expensive guitars but i just dont think its cost effective for me as i use standard tunings so a pitch shifter is a far faster cheaper and more convenient way. and if i used drop id consider a d tuna, i suppose itd be good for some guitarists. like mike from staind but otherwise not worth it.

However, if I was a gigging guitarist (since I have no interest in metal) chances are that I'd have song in my repetoire (especially since I already do as an amateur) that are in various tunings. And if I was crisscrossing the country in a van, I'd just as soon only have to take one electric guitar... Not to mention the time saved tuning up on stage.
Fenders and Jacksons r good too! Fenders r good for soft rock, and blues. And Jacksons r made for metal. Yes ik gibsons can do preatty much everything else but really open urself up a little!

I disagree.....Gibson guitars are wonderful but NOT the greatest guitars in the world. The greatest guitar is what feels good in your hands and the tone that you like from that particular guitar. e.g. I have got a Custom Shop Robin Trower Stratocaster and I woldn't change that guitar for the whole Gibson factory put together. I repeat, the best guitar is what feels good to you!!

Best guitars in the world ? I guess he hasn't played custom guitars. I like old Gibsons and custom shop les pauls, they are great, that being said, you cant get certain sounds out of a gibson, that you can get out of a fender, and likewise you cant get sounds out of a strat that you can get out of a gibson (unless you are david gilmore) fenders have always been thought of as a little less quality than gibsons because of the bolt on necks, but that is not always true

He doesn't seem to give a shit about the features, think it's kinda funny.
But I think that the robot guitars, the dark fire and the dusk tiger( ugly beast) are a crime, just because there is something wrong in all the futuristic stuff. Keep them simple, 2 Pups, 4 knobs, and a beast of a guitar to put them in :)

Like he said it will never replace the original Gibson Les Paul, but its a new toy, explore it. I dont like it, but, i wont say its a bad guitar. I played one yesterday in a store. It gets to Future, to advanced. When you play Les Paul you just want a Gibson Les Paul. Not Dark Fire.

It's all about preference. I own and play different basses, including a Gibson LP BFG bass, Fender Jag bass, MM stringray5, Ibanez SR800 (fretted and fretless), can't say which I like better, but Gibson's deffinitely got the right idea about super loud pups/circuitry and making it passive was a good choice, no battery needed there, but to say that it's the best, I cannot, I do like it the most of any bass I've owned and played so far, but I don't limit it to having any other brand being favored

I've owned and sold guitars for thousands of dollars, including a $3000 PRS Custom, I have family members who've owned several Gibsons and I didn't like any of them (especially not at the price they cost). Gibson guitars have a lot of design flaws, they work very poorly for a lot of genres, and even though I'll admit they work well for some players in some styles, they are NOT everyone's idea of a great guitar. I could very well afford one, but I don't want one.

@elketecaga yes, maybe if you play only jazz and blues.. no, a LP or a SG still beat a strat or a tele or any other Fender in any kind of music, even in jazz, country or blues. Thanks to their extreme versatility you can go from blues to rock and to hard rock to death or trash metal, whereas strats.. well they sound like strats.

@xiiiDethroned When I bought my Bugera Tube Amp I tested it out with a Gibson Les Paul Studio ($1300 Version), and when I set it up at home, I played it with my Ibanez RG120 (Custom INF Pickups - $300 altogether) and it sounded better. I know the Studio doesn't do the Les Paul name justice, but for $1000 less I had a more tonal sounding guitar. You have to give Ibanez credit for the Wizard neck, them fuckers are THIN as hell.

@firerel i do love prs a holy bunch i crave a cutsom 24 in a blue quilted top. but gibson are hand made too. and there is no best in the world only personal preferance. i prefer my gibson les paul to a bunch of other guitars i've played like jackson's, dean's, esp's, other gibsons (sg's and hollow bodys) i've yet to play a prs though. but if the sound and feel as good as they look. hell i'd buy one

I'm not too sure if the self tuning part of the guitar takes the magic away from the guitar. I might just be a bit mad saying that but after I've finished tuning a guitar it's makes playing it all that sweeter

@morbideddie I understand that you people overseas have to pay more for guitars that we do in the U.S., but even the newer Dusk Tiger guitar costs no more than any number of Les Paul models, and significantly less than most of the signature model Les Pauls. You couldn't give me this thing, but if I was a gigging solid-body guitarist, I'd certainly be thinking about buying one.

i have no problem with expensive guitars but i just dont think its cost effective for me as i use standard tunings so a pitch shifter is a far faster cheaper and more convenient way. and if i used drop id consider a d tuna, i suppose itd be good for some guitarists. like mike from staind but otherwise not worth it.
and im sorry but it sounds bad, maybe its the demo but that has a horrible tone

However, if I was a gigging guitarist (since I have no interest in metal) chances are that I'd have song in my repetoire (especially since I already do as an amateur) that are in various tunings. And if I was crisscrossing the country in a van, I'd just as soon only have to take one electric guitar... Not to mention the time saved tuning up on stage.

I disagree.....Gibson guitars are wonderful but NOT the greatest guitars in the world. The greatest guitar is what feels good in your hands and the tone that you like from that particular guitar. e.g. I have got a Custom Shop Robin Trower Stratocaster and I woldn't change that guitar for the whole Gibson factory put together. I repeat, the best guitar is what feels good to you!!

Being a die hard Fender fan (jaguar ftw?) i have to disagree with him on the "gibson guitars are the greatest guitars in the world" idea. but i REALLY encourage guitarists to experience all the varieties, to fit their style. Don't listen to ppl saying "this guitar is the best, nothing else compares" find your favorite.

Best guitars in the world ? I guess he hasn't played custom guitars. I like old Gibsons and custom shop les pauls, they are great, that being said, you cant get certain sounds out of a gibson, that you can get out of a fender, and likewise you cant get sounds out of a strat that you can get out of a gibson (unless you are david gilmore) fenders have always been thought of as a little less quality than gibsons because of the bolt on necks, but that is not always true
