ATI 4870 running Milky Way@home - new optimized app through BOINC

CPU crunching for these are no match for GPU's due to parallelism. Only joke is trying to crunch these on CPU's....lol.

It is some joke or what , my comp(Pentium 4 , 2.4GHz) needs like 20 hours to complete one milky way unit

Those were old work units - Milky made them much larger to handle the newer Radeon cards' power (and more credits since they take longer). My duel 5850's burn down current work units at 90 seconds on 920/1050 clocks. My 5870 at 905/1050 burns a work unit down at 70 seconds. Hope that helps.

that's a full minute faster than my 5850, how is this possible? To think I'm about to drop 600$ for a 5970 to crossfire with it just to have all 3 GPU's doing what yours does in the same time, please tell me what I'm doing wrong here

Hey Dude. I want crunch MW too, but iam not able to optimize my 4870 für MW... Can u send me ur config or whatever... my MW takes much time.... too much when i see ur vid.

coming autom. from the MSys Server. right, 0.21.

with version 0.20, it takes about 42 seconds per WU.

config: Phenom II 910, HD4850 1GB, 64-bit OS.

the major hurdle is that MW's server can't keep up with my demand :D
