I have an Akita and Beagle mix, all the pros and cons of both breeds. But my Sun Fox is a wonderful and scrappy guard dog.

I recently walked a purebred Japanese Akita at an animal shelter. The akita was SO sweet! She didn't even growl! She licked me, and played and wagged her tail! Whoever thinks dogs are aggressive by nature are nuts. Pitt Bulls, Akitas, Huskies, Doberman and Rotties are all friendly.

i have a shiba inu, also a Japanese dog. it's basically a smaller version of the akita.

i have boy with some akita inu in him he's a good protective dog he is built like a rock ! he's got some german rottie & Irish staffie as well as boxer in him,he almost rarly barks he's very smart and obeitant.~~~~~~~~~~best mixed bred i ever had idk if i would get a pure american akita ~

the story made the Akita as a dog nobody should want . Totally difficult grooming ,hardly trainable , risky health, did they leave out they poop? So why are they awesome? Because they are also loving, protective , fun, obedient. It's all about how you treat them, and get tone from a good breeder. # 1you don't even need to try to make them aggressive; go the opposite, believe me when they protect them selves and your family, instinct will kick in and no doubt they are lethal. Big poop too lol

I love this breed! They are my number one fav! Huskies are second and Goldies are third. Akitas I love so much because they are so cute are so tough and loyal. My mom is scared to death of them. I want to have one some day though!

@scraderz20 I agree. I detest huskies. Worst breed to have considering the only people who seem to have them are unqualified to own them as pets. I loove Akitas though. Never met a single one I didn't like.
