  • I think your a hypocrit.. if you don't believe in having a bird as a pet then why do you have 3? Think long and hard.. someone had to have bred parrots to have the 3 you have right???? Now not liking the fact that many do end up in sanctuaries and rescues and shelters is another story in itself. Responsible bird ownership is what you should be preaching!

  • @crazed4lovebirds i agree even her name is hypocritical "parrots4life"

  • @citrix69 Wrong. Parrots4life is a name I chose because if you adopt a parrot, it should be for life. People give away or try to resell their birds all the time and it drives me crazy. Also, I adopted my three parrots from a rescue/sanctuary so I'm not supporting the breeding industry and I'm not hypocritical. You obviously don't understand common sense. I'm saying if people want a parrot, they should adopt- not buy. There are millions of unwanted birds that need homes.

  • @crazed4lovebirds The three I have are adopted. Don't you read? I adopted them from a rescue/sanctuary and so I have in no way contributed to the breeding industry. If people want birds, they should adopt them from a shelter or rescue/sanctuary. There are millions of unwanted birds and that is my point. Don't tell me what I "should" be preaching. I am advocating that people ADOPT and by doing so they are not supporting the breeding industry. Next time read the whole post.

  • any "domestic" animal started out as wild animals too... there were no domestic dogs or cats or anything until they were domesticated... true all birds are wild but nothing wrong with living with them in our homes, no different than reptiles or whatever.... just curious why you have parrots and all of your vids say the same thing about them not belonging in our homes as pets??

  • @217cmiller I've tried to explain this so many times but birds that have been born in captivity cannot be released into the wild- even though they are still wild animals. They don't know how to survive and would die so all the birds that are bred for the pet industry can never be released into the wild. I am against the pet industry breeding birds to sell or for pets. The problem is that all the birds that are already here, need homes. That is why I have 3 adopted parrots. They can't be

  • (continued) They can't be released into the wild so they need to be taken care of. There are millions of parrots in sanctuaries and rescues across the country and there is no shortage of pet parrots. There should be no more breeding of parrots to be pets. And yes, domestic animals started out as wild animals but that doesn't mean that we need to domesticate all wild animals and it is also a process that takes hundreds of years. All parrots are wild. All dogs are domesticated.

  • @parrots4life There are no wild St. Bernard's or golden retrievers or poodles. Tigers and dolphins are wild animals. Should they be pets too? There is absolutely no reason to make parrots pets except for human greed and selfishness. It is not right and they are designed to live in their native habitats, fly miles a day, be in flocks and have a mate. These are things they cannot do in a human's home and most parrots spend their lives alone in a cage miserable.

  • which one is oscar??

  • the little meyer's.

  • u are right i have three hand rared parrots all amazons and they are very affectionate but are wild animals abd sometimes bite

i rescued one called nugget and shes perfect now :D

  • Thank you Parrots4life for being a true parrot lover. Parrots are not domesticated like cats and dogs. Parrots are wild animals! Opt to adopt! Don't support breeders! There aren't enough good homes that can provide the expensive veterinary care needed for these beautiful creatures. Don't let the birds suffer. They didn't choose to live their life in a cage.

  • the birds are great you look like you really love them!

  • Thanks. If you attempt to fly a bird outside, just make sure that the bird knows how to fly from a higher level to a lower one... The problem comes when they are hanging out on a tree and they only know how to fly up and how to keep a level in flying while have no idea how to fly down. I found that my grey will prefer to keep hungry than trying to fly down when I put my hand to her asking her to fly to me; however, she would fly even if she isn't hungry if I keep my hand high enough for her.

  • Freefly them...

"God loved birds and invented trees; man loved birds and invented cages" You have so many cages in your home... go and work on a recall to fly your parrots outdoors instead of kissing them indoors :P

they have wings to fly ;)

  • they ARE free-flying. their cage doors are open all the time and they only have the cages so they each have their own space to eat and hang out if they want. i adopted charlie a year ago and he couldn't fly and now he flies all the time! i appreciate your concern but they are free-flying.

  • I mean outdoors :)

  • i would love to be able to do that, but it is too dangerous because i live in new york city. i had hoped to be moving somewhere where i would be able to do that, but it is not going to happen so i have to make do indoors for now. maybe someday though.

  • I just lost my parrot last night, unfortunately. If she wasn't hit by a car, eaten by a hawk, or drowned in the river, she will land to someone's hand as I expect.

Unless you are ready to accept the emotional stress when lossing a bird, never attempt to fly them outdoors.

  • Thank God; I rescued her. She was hanging out on the tallest tree on the river and I had to climb the tree. She, then, flew to the edge of the bridge and my friend got her.

  • train it to come back like i did :P mine has the problem of hawks tho they always attack him when hes outside but he managed to dodge them and come down

  • You know Alyson, I warned you. Those birdies have eaten a hole right into your heart and are never going to leave. Are you sure that you can still survive with the amount of time that they attack you with the power of cuddles and love? :P

I am just joking of course. I know that those three stinkers of yours will love you forever.

  • damn parrots. why do they have to be so lovable? :)

  • Because life ain't crazy enough until you have animals to take care of. :D

  • I LOVE LOVE the MUSIC. What's the name of the song and the group?

I love the birds too. :)

  • It's the NumaNuma song- I don't know the group.

  • I LOVE LOVE the MUSIC. What is the name of the song and the group?

    The birds are adorable :)

  • Coooool!!!

But I have this strange urge to dance around naked flapping my arms like a bird!!! LOL!!

  • I love this. Thanks for bringing it back!
