  • Pretty sure this is called Anzio Annie...I had this on 8-track and blew it apart every time...

  • Excellent, many thanks for posting.

    Hogs.

  • What are the name's song of the medley? thanks

  • thank you so much for this. I loved this record. mick taylor

just kills me when he holds out and then plays that riff at the end of the lesson.

the band just takes off into the statosphere. the stones were so lucky they were allowed

to aquire him. one of the best records ever.

  • Amazing - champion guitar!

  • Is this the part of Diary Of aBand where Mick Taylor lets Jimi play his guitar? I've been looking for that album. I have the DOAB that doesnt have Jimi on it. It's a 2 Vol. series..if I remember right..

where can I find the LP with Jimi?

    help..plz

    ryan d

  • cant get that kind of sustain on a Fender... ummmm Snotra....ever hear of a guy named Jimi Hendrix? ...yah ... he got lots of sustain outa Fenders....

  • Depends whether we're on overdrive or not doesn't it ? Les Paul on normal has more sustain than a Strat. Strat on normal has more than a banjo, and a banjo on overdrive will sustain a great deal

  • hahah what? ..where you learn 2 play g-tar?.. is sad.. ya wanna talk about sustain..forget about your fuggin overdrive..and LEARN how to make notes with a guitar.....in recent years, are you tellng me Kurt Cobain coudn't get 'sustain' outa a Fender? ummm yes he could..

  • I originally owed an 8-track of this and somewhere I've got the vinyl. I remember the bit after the Keef Hartley interview being called Anzio Annie or Anzio Anne after the WWII artillery piece, but I see the listing of the remastered album calls it something else. It burns! It burns! Ahahahaha. The burningest blues lead ever recorded by my estimation.

  • eccezionale non c'è paragone questa musica e la migliore di tutti w l blues

  • You cant that kind of sustain on a fender. They have sustain of a banjo.

  • gotta love les pauls. hopefully beck and clapton will come back from the darkside one of these days!

  • I saw his band in 1989 and they were fabulous. Coco Montoya was an incredible guitarist.

  • AWESOME POST

  • does anyone have an mp3 of "anzio annie/snowy wood/the lesson" they could send me?

  • great vid man..thanks for posting

  • just fantastic. john mayall's legacy

    Mayall's School Rules!!!!!

  • John Mayall does rule! Especially here in Detroit. Saw him and his boys (mates) I believe in 1968-69 at a place called the Eastown. Off the hook! The British music invasion is sweet payback for the American Revolution! LOL

  • many thanx for this video. reminds me, that I have "diary of a band" vol 1 + 2 on my dusty shelf... ;+) hey, and what a thrilling leadguitar played by 16 year old Mick Taylor. gives me a chickenskin

  • Thanks for your comment yeah that was like me till i started convverting them to digi and hey only the true music fans get the chicken skin syndrome -trichoone .

  • I think the Brits stole the blues and made it their own, just like they did with democracy. Very innovative. (You know, Rolling Stones, 1965; Magna Carta, 1215.) I live in Chicago and you can't go to hear the blues live too much before it starts sounding kinda flat and the same old after awhile, course that's what they spoon-feed up for the tourists, but still.

  • How do yuo figure they stole democracy? from whom?

  • The Greeks

  • True, I though he might have been reffering to the Americans (they often seem to take credit for democracy after all). The Greks were of course first.

  • Played the cr*p out of this album when I was a teenager back in the late 60s. Mayall used to live near us in Cheadle Hulme before he went to London.

  • yeah so did I and John Mayall is still performing played Liverpool a couple of years back .

  • A very respectful piece of work Trichoone; I thank you. I had this record as a teenager, it was an "import" here in the states, there is actually a Diary of a Band Vol 2 as well. Keef Hartley's phrase "good for them bad for us but there you go" became a catch phrase for me and my friends, I still use it today!

    Muddy Muller

  • thanks a lot my friend . yeah i know about the other but never owned that one .

  • i used to work with john mayall when he was an art director at a company called Carter Latham in Waverton Steet in London back in the early 60's,went with him when he played at the Wood Green jazz club, cooks ferry in Edmonton (england) and Southgate Tec Collage he was so cool, had american blues albams on all day. If you look on the early albums, the design as by J Mayall. followed him ever since.

  • great stuff you are the second person this week commenting on one of my vids who knew one of our hero's - trichoone .

  • i have replyed to a few of Johns vidios.

  • It wasn't you the last person had dealings with Mike Oldfield and Kate Bush what interesting lives you lead -jealous -trichoone .

  • to make it worse for you, I worked for the Official Beales book photographer Leslie Bryce, and printed most of the photographs for the beatles books, also went to studio and saw all 4 reording all across the universe! Chck out Leslie Bryce on Google and you will see some of his photos

  • he sounds like a leprachaun

  • does anyone know if i can find a bootleg with full versions of the songs in this track?

  • What's the song played at 5.30? I've never heard it, sounds very good.

  • The Peeter Green influence. Good isn't it.

  • This is my old buddy Mick Taylor playin when he was like 18 years old the cut was called The Lesson..

Mick is brilliant of course he later joined the Rolling Stones haven't seen Mick in years now not since the Lone Star Cafe in NYC closed..

    LJH

  • No,"Blues From Laurel Canyon" is the record to look for.

    LJH

  • I do have the record, but it is rather well-worn & scratchy. I`d just like a decent copy. Lighten up.

    LJH

  • why not just buy the record?

  • Someone please upload "the Bear" from the "Laurel Canyon" album...I miss that. Thanks towhoever posted "Walking on Sunset".

    LJH

  • That first piece has got to be Mick Taylor playing 'Snowy Wood'. With that much sustain and vibrato it's gotta be.

  • Yes Mick Taylor was playing on all those tracks and only 18 at that .

  • I think he was 16!

  • That first track is 'Anzio Annie' and it is indeed Mick Yaylor.

  • T!!! Taylor!

  • Is that first piece Mick Taylor playing 'Snowy Wood'? It's probably gotta be, with that much vibrato and sustain.

  • Nobody could ever really put their finger on what it was that made John Mayall's influence so inspiring to the young musicians that worked with him. It is was like a magic and I revere Mr. Mayall within that contex.

  • you've got to be kidding.

  • you dont think so then , mind you if the age on your channel is correct you wont be able to remember , ha ha . Thanks for comment though my friend .

  • I remember the record, don't get me wrong, but the still pictures of Keef Hartley etc. make me feel like someone died. Instead of the psycedelic backdrop why not have crying grandmas and a vicar with candle light and organ music.

  • yeh fair enough i take your point but I was trying to get the story of the different band members over more like a documentry instead of the normal music vid , thanks for showing interest .
