  • I need to use this and part 1 for a very important project

  • your right they were Detroit v6-53 motors,,then the switched to cummings because they had a thicker block & the enemy round wouldnt penetrate them..

  • ever since i saw that movie apocolypes now i have always wanted to roll down a river in vietnam with rolling stones on blast and shooting heavy MG's everywhere!!!

  • ... US 'reporters' and... ugh, these public scrumm 'teachers' are assholes and just plain fuckin' LIARS! The lot of 'em all, merely puppet and parROTS for their 'party'-just as the broadcasters of Radios Moscow, Habana and Hanoi did for theirs back then: All Marxists F-U-C-K them all! The Day of Reckoning is fast approaching...

That war was won the moment TET ended: NVA & VC forces went conventional and they lost the strategic and tatical bet- The American POLITICIANS(liberals)LOST this in DC!

  • These guys are awesome, nice boat to work with and some cool weapons...

  • These guys are true heroes.Look what they did.We trained them out of Mare Island,California .The Delta was ideal for there training arena.Brave,Brave men.

  • The Navy boys took heavy hits in Nam and we are doing our part today. Not just corpsmen (God bless them) but everywhere.

  • This war could have been won, but the media wasn't exactly helping... nor did Hanoi Jane.

  • @adwasono two Detroit Diesel 6V-63 (318 cu. in.) attached to two 14" Jacuzzi jet pumps. They could operate in shallow waters to 18" at speeds to 22 Knts.

  • So err what were you doing in Vietnam -Why were you there -Because you have not managed to stop China becoming a superpower!

  • So all this greatness and in the end the boats were left on the rivers and Yankee ran home- The wars America fights are for the media and propoganda films like this, so do not blame the reporters -Go to school and learn how you only kill from the air and take civilians and children because you are too chicken shit to actually face ANYONE one to one. Today America is a diminishing joke -Long live the devil killers

  • I was assigned to the River Patrol Boat Repair Base One on the Perfume River it was east of Hue City in 1971 about 1hr South from the DMZ in I Corps.

To all my Brothers and Sisters that didn't make it back on this Memorial Day 5/31/2010, I salute you and say Rest Easy you've earned it. NamVet Mike 71-73

  • How many sailor's saw combat in Vietnam? I was always curious about because it seems most of the documentaries were focused on Army and Marines.

  • @kylemas2005 there were approx 2,500-3,000 that I know. Check with the Navy web sites for accuracy.

  • With Army and Marine units being stretched thin, do you see the Navy putting sailors into combat situations do help with the strain? I know Marines get Navy corpsman, but could regular sailors be fighting in combat now?

  • @kylemas2005 No. The Naval Infantry was used in the Boxer Rebellion they're no longer used. As for current war's the Special Warfare Community (IE, SBT's, SEAL's,etc.) are actively engaging on the various rivers in Iraq.

  • Interesting, thank you for your insight.

  • @kylemas2005 ...theres already a program for this where members of the Navy can volunteer to serve with Army units in country ...I forget the name of the program. Ive seen a few since ive been in the army they wear the same uniform but their nametape says US. Navy and they have Navy rank.

  • Really? What do they do?

  • @kylemas2005 Most of the people Ive seen or heard of are medical.....corpsman or nurses serving in field hospitals but I have heard of people serving with engineer units and even infantry....guess it depends on what your MOS or job is and whats avalible

  • My Dad was one of the men who Drove the Troop Carriers!!!He Drove and also was a Gunner!

  • @adwasono

Info box, top right, click more info

  • The PBR men are real heroes, not the scumbag "reporters" who lied about the war 24 hours a day. My hat is off to them. My history teacher said that the VC WON the Tet Offensive. At least this video is out there and she can't do shit about it.

  • @starlionblue, What kind of shitbag history teacher do you have, she needs to go back and learn a few things about military history and strategy, strategically we destroyed the VC and NVA during Tet, look at the battle at Hue, we were caught off guard but once we got caught up the casualties for the enemy were enormous, fuckin schools today.

  • @armor452 Revisionist history 101. The US invaded Indochina! (Just kidding) After WWII the US drove the Japanese out and returned it to the French which pissed off Uncle Ho they drove out the French, in 1958 "Advisers" helped the South to keep Communist at bay, 1965 an "attack" on a US Navy destroyer became the catalyst for L B J to send in the 1st Cav. (Air Mobile) the rest as they say is history

  • @starlionblue

school teachers are idiots... they are mere sophists and power hungry fools whose sole aim is to gain control rather than enlighten.

  • @starlionblue

The US won most of it's battles in Vietnam (apart from one where the enemy sent amphibious tanks through terrain the US army deemed impassable and nearly killed off a ranger camp.

But they didn't win the war. COIN tactics were required, but not well enough used. Unfortunately the same thing then went on to happen in the mideast.

    Giant facepalm.

  • @starlionblue WHAT!? Tet was a Failure for the communist, the VC lost 60% man power in that failure of a Offensive.

  • @starlionblue that teacher should have been fired on the spot

  • d pendry; two v6 Detroit diesel and Jacuzzi water jet pumps.

  • @donpendry Do you know of any still running ?

  • @Afamousperson There are some on display. If I find one I will buy it.

  • @donpendry If you buy one i will fly over and help you rebuild it
