  • I bought this album when it was released and had the 78 rpm recording. Both are gone.

This piece was originally recorded in 1952 or 53. One of my favorites of his. I now have it on cd.

Thanks for keeping him alive in our hearts and minds.

  • I'm so glad to see that there are black Cathlocs. Actually, I knew two from my work, Clarence Roberts (who went to my Catholic grammar school), and Judy Samuels, who worked with me at Sherwin Williams. They were beautiful people! I remember in 1958, we serenaded our pastor, James E. Shevelin, on his 35 anniversary, with the song 'Blessings to you Father' sung to the tune, 'Catch a Falling Star.' Clarence worked with me at Sherwin and I'll always remember his good heart.

  • I remember this song from the early 50's. I was six when my folks gave me this Victor '45'. I played it to death, and recently purchased a new copy in an original pressing. It is in my opinion, Perry Como's best record. At first, i thought that the intro was 'Pope, Pope, Pope Pius! Catholics, like me, understand! This is a great performance. Thank you!

  • @john44122 I'm Catholic too and my Grandpa played this one a lot and I thought it was "Pope Pope Pope Pie-ya" and I asked "why do they wanna throw a pie at the Pope?"...That was back in the 80s when I was little so I didn't know of Pope Pius.
