this clip trully captures that one and only sound that raw/rough sound of reggae that can not trully to replacaited due to the intrument players and the poor man yard's we dont want no CBS record label sound lol
yes nice man use to go buy my music from him in london in strok in the early 70's even had a tea with him at the cafe next door to he's shop .....miss the old days so much why things change .....
Timmystix : if ur asking was this video recorded in ..4 Aces then no....the stage was much bigger & I can't remember any recording being done there..& I used to live & breath 4 aces & 007 ....
I had the privilege of playing Roy Shirley's last show with my band The Expanders at The Sierra Nevada World Music Festival. He was such a great vibe and a great guy! I feel honored to have been a part of that. Much Respect Mr. Shirley! LOVEFUL HEIGHTS
I believe it was recorded in Phebes at 240 Amhurst Road.
The cafe is the R&JJ West Indian Restaurant at Sandringham Road, Dalston. Roy may have had something to do with this, as his Heart Breaking Jepsey came out on the R&JJ record label.
really great!!! the whole documentary that this was pulled from is fantastic as well. but what i wanna know is if the backing band is indeed the Rudies. i see Rico so i assume that it is. does anyone know for sure??
Can somebody tell me the name of the song (Rock steady ?) maybe the original interpret (if it is a cover)? and where i can get this song (CD/LP/Download) ?

The record shop was his own Imperial records.
