im writing an instrumental right now and its kind of hard to explain but basically i want it to be grid perfect and it is on 160 bpm..but it needs to be a bit slower im thinking 155 but when i change it the actual notes on the midi region move back meaning there not grid perfect..can u just tell me how to change the tempo with all the midi notes aligned perfectly but just to slow it down or to speed it up..thanks i hope i made sense
I am trying to change the tempo of a popular recorded song for a freestyle routine. While I am able to change the tempo of something I've recorded myself, it doesn't work on recorded music. Can you steer me in the right direction?
Thanks for the info on the tick based track....now, I can get my Click track to change tempos, but the music on an adjoining track doesn't change with the new tempo. What am I missing?
@MindMushMusicGroup and @purelink1000, Joey is taking advantage of a Pro Tools feature called Elastic Audio, but in order to get your audio tracks to conform to your tempo map, you have make sure to change them from sample based to tick based. Tick based tracks adjust when you change the tempo; sample based tracks do not. Rather than write out a long explanation on how to do this, here's a video that should help. Good luck!
Okay, so apparently I can't link to another YouTube video via comment, so instead just search for Pro Tools 205: Elastic Audio - 03 Samples and Ticks by MacProVideoDotCom.
I've spent days trying to get the tempo changes and regions to stay on the grid.
If you put in 3 tempo changes. Then in between two tempo changes, just copy 1 bar about 20 times. Now if you zoom all the way in and look at each region start and end, you'll see they don't line up.
Is that how Pro Tools works, or is there a way to make it line up PERFECTLY on the GRID?
hmm, i tried to do this with one of my songs, but no matter how much i slowed down the tempo, when i clicked play it just was just playing at the normal tempo =/
Thank you!
