Nah. A PC can do far better than the aging PS3. Ps3 have difficulty selling their consoles even at the cheap. Which means they are not selling because the market has more demand for Wii. Besides if you want a real gaming graphics and you have the budget go settle for a high end PC. 4-D is old for PC's.

I have a PS3 and trust me 4D is not better than 3D it, think about it if we live in the 3rd dimension then that means that 4D is not an improved graphical system, but is a different dimension altogether. Point being 4D is possible on the 360 also because 4D is effect of time effecting gameplay. e.g (oblivion is a multi platform game and sometimes if you pick a plant, several in game months later, the plant grows back.
4D is possible on my old Amiga. Running 4D is not even a part of the difference between the two systems and the PS3's costly technical superiority!
It's the simple fact that the 9 core Cell is far faster at displaying 4D in REAL TIME on the Fly in moment to moment game play. Because although X360 Xenon (3core) can run 4D pre-recorded sequences, PS3 can run in 4D 24/7 without so much as one single load screen! (ref. Uncharted, R&C, MGS4, etc) True 4D!!! ;)
but really the graphics near enough the same do they not? i mean the PS3 is obviously the more powerful system but in online capabilities it is only slightly better than 360 i mean 360 has a bigger online population and even though PS3 can support up to 256 players on a game the 360 can support at least 100 but i doubt that is the limit (btw the game on xbox 360 with 50 Vs 50 is called Huxley, an xbox exclusive MMOFPS)

The way I see it, in the future you will be playing an online 3rd person shooter and you will be able to see how the map gets changed by your actions. Walls explode with bombs, windows break, bullet holes everywhere. Maybe designers will play with time and weather so if its raining the earth will get all muddy affecting gameplay, etc. So many possibilities

The problem with consoles is they always come with too little memory, a few games may be able to do 1080p but there isn't enough memory to handle the texture and normal maps to really take advantage of that resolution.
Pretty much all console games demonstrate this; shader heavy, memory light.
As for 4D, it's a load of hype honestly. Applying time to graphics isn't anything new; check Nvidia's time machine if you are bored, shows vehicle aging.
PS3 self clocks itself according load/temperature to 4.4GHz. With just 6 SPE cores running at that speed in series, you can stream real time Procedural Graphics with 4D on the fly animations like in Uncharted. Try that with a PC! ...sure any machine can run pre-rendered 4D, but nothing a Render Farm or the Mini Render Farm on a Chip Cell BE can do it in Real Time! ...and when your memory runs as fast as your CPU! and you can run equivalent 9cores streamed, you don't need that much memory!;)
The 4D content in this video is shown in the Game "Africa"! Demonstrated according to the riddle in the Clocks ticking through time. This comercial doesn't say a thing about the 4d, what it does imply is that the PS3 is revolutionicing the way images are made. Wich is an idea that i don't share.
Images need a distance from reality, they need the abstract to represent, but most important the focus must be on the meaning. Take that and you just get a copy, an empty copy.
So what is the point that the giraffe chews, what if there are no canned animations? what does that tell you about the game? does that make it fun? it gives you a better interaction with the game, but its just interaction, its the surface of what should be inside the game, its content, story, game play. Not just effects.
That is why most games on the recent years are almost identic. They all focus on the effects, and not in what you are playing.
All but a few, wich try to give you something more than just better reflections, its a good thing to work on the medium, on how you show the images, just don't try to sell it as the whole picture.
I agree that there is a strong posibility for art in videogames, as there was in movies in its time.
But until the videogame industry stops focusing on making games "look pretty" they will remain entertainment. And as entertainment the aesthetics is off limits for videogames, the production of images should not be their concern, the making of good games should be.
If you don't have a PS3 in the first place, you can't experience the great games like "Uncharted" that personify what this video is all about! ....and if you haven't played "Uncharted" all the way through, you don't know what you're missing!!! ;D

There are many games with dynamic/seamless weather systems(Oblivion, PG4, even Shenmue on the Dreamcast- snow collects over time.)Lara from TR would get soakedthrough and dry over time, plants grow naturally in Viva Pinata, Bioshock/Mass Effect have intelligent AI that reacts accordingly, the new Multi-format Indiana Jones has interactions generated on the fly not scripted. What's so special about the PS3's 4d, I haven't seen anything that hasn't been done before???

Well it won't be really cheap until they switch over to full bulk process Cell chips and the newest process for the RSX as well!
Then prices will plummet as Toshiba fuses their skilled high yield bulk process with Transmeta's LongRun2 technologies! Should happen by April to July of next year. In time for next summer and the Holidays!
I predict by next Christmas PS3 will be slashed to $250 or lower. For a console that does so much more than it's competitors!!! :D

I have a PS3 and trust me 4D is not better than 3D it, think about it if we live in the 3rd dimension then that means that 4D is not an improved graphical system, but is a different dimension altogether. Point being 4D is possible on the 360 also because 4D is effect of time effecting gameplay. e.g (oblivion is a multi platform game and sometimes if you pick a plant, several in game months later, the plant grows back.

4D is possible on my old Amiga. Running 4D is not even a part of the difference between the two systems and the PS3's costly technical superiority!
It's the simple fact that the 9 core Cell is far faster at displaying 4D in REAL TIME on the Fly in moment to moment game play. Because although X360 Xenon (3core) can run 4D pre-recorded sequences, PS3 can run in 4D 24/7 without so much as one single load screen! (ref. Uncharted, R&C, MGS4, etc) True 4D!!! ;)

but really the graphics near enough the same do they not? i mean the PS3 is obviously the more powerful system but in online capabilities it is only slightly better than 360 i mean 360 has a bigger online population and even though PS3 can support up to 256 players on a game the 360 can support at least 100 but i doubt that is the limit (btw the game on xbox 360 with 50 Vs 50 is called Huxley, an xbox exclusive MMOFPS)

You know right now the programmers cant program games to the ps3 full potential, like when the ps2 first came out and the games look kinda ugly but after about 3 years the graphics got super sweet. Like the difference in the graphics on Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, but there is a much wider gap of potential.

The way I see it, in the future you will be playing an online 3rd person shooter and you will be able to see how the map gets changed by your actions. Walls explode with bombs, windows break, bullet holes everywhere. Maybe designers will play with time and weather so if its raining the earth will get all muddy affecting gameplay, etc. So many possibilities

The problem with consoles is they always come with too little memory, a few games may be able to do 1080p but there isn't enough memory to handle the texture and normal maps to really take advantage of that resolution.
Pretty much all console games demonstrate this; shader heavy, memory light.
As for 4D, it's a load of hype honestly. Applying time to graphics isn't anything new; check Nvidia's time machine if you are bored, shows vehicle aging.

PS3 self clocks itself according load/temperature to 4.4GHz. With just 6 SPE cores running at that speed in series, you can stream real time Procedural Graphics with 4D on the fly animations like in Uncharted. Try that with a PC! ...sure any machine can run pre-rendered 4D, but nothing a Render Farm or the Mini Render Farm on a Chip Cell BE can do it in Real Time! ...and when your memory runs as fast as your CPU! and you can run equivalent 9cores streamed, you don't need that much memory!;)

This comercial doesn't say a thing about the 4d, what it does imply is that the PS3 is revolutionicing the way images are made. Wich is an idea that i don't share.
Images need a distance from reality, they need the abstract to represent, but most important the focus must be on the meaning. Take that and you just get a copy, an empty copy.

All but a few, wich try to give you something more than just better reflections, its a good thing to work on the medium, on how you show the images, just don't try to sell it as the whole picture.

There are many games with dynamic/seamless weather systems(Oblivion, PG4, even Shenmue on the Dreamcast- snow collects over time.)Lara from TR would get soakedthrough and dry over time, plants grow naturally in Viva Pinata, Bioshock/Mass Effect have intelligent AI that reacts accordingly, the new Multi-format Indiana Jones has interactions generated on the fly not scripted. What's so special about the PS3's 4d, I haven't seen anything that hasn't been done before???

The passage of time and how it effects our enviroments and us. Hair growing, beards, rain falling wetting everything. Wind and it's effects. Characters ducking when you just miss their head. Jumping when hit near their feet! No canned animation. Everything generated on the fly in real time, that's 4D! Only on PS3!!!

So the idea is that pensioners live mundane lives and the PS3 could make it more exciting for them. Or are they saying that we are all effectively old fashioned if we don't buy a PS3? And a patronising, softly spoken woman is trying to shift PS3, presumbaly to the middle aged and above. Sony, I wouldn't bother- they're still getting to grips with the 'advanced' visuals of the Wii.
