carter beauford is one of the best drummers in the world and his set defines the word large. the size of the kit you use does not make you a good drummer, its the way you use the kit you have, large or small

if the drummer is smart the wear ear plugs, drums are crazy loud and can kill your ears. those headphones are designed for drummers so it protects them from the harsh sounds coming from the drums. it also makes it so whatever music they are playing to doesnt have to be blaring. that would also be bad on the ears. so yeah. that is pretty much why.

Lol hes prolly using a sound amplifier. And through that he can choose what sounds louder then certain sounds. Like make his bass a certain sound and so on. So he can hear himself playing not because drums kill your wars. Ive been playing drums 3 years years and my ears are fine
those are the facts! but onething they don't know about using earphones.....or maybe they forgot to state this......not only using earphones to lessen the drums sound on the part of the drummer but it also had the so called metronome beat....were most drummers depends on it.....that metronome give a lot help to all drummers..to determine how fast they are from the song, they have a steady beat to focus on to be on the beat all the time......that's it!

I was just wondering what cymbals you would recommend as I the ones i have are zildjian planet z and i am lookin to upgrade but i dont have a huge budget i use a splash crash and ride.
i would recommend sabian, i used to love zildjian but i bought a sabian pro sonix crash and loved it! so i would say get sabian pro sonix crash and a splash (there are lots of very cheap second hand ones, in basically new condition) but i prefer zildjian ride's so i would agree with gunsnrosesrocker and say zbt ride (cheap, great value for money) and as for hi-hats its really down to the music you play. :)
ya like i bought a zbt splash last year and it cracked it sucked so bad, but paiste pst5 cymbals are god cause thats the slpah i have now and it hasnt even crached (: but i agree with u zildjians expensive cymbals are amazing
I use an Evans Emad head with built-in muffling. For the reso head (the front head) I put some rolled up fabric against the bottom portion... not a lot, just enough to knock off unwanted overtones produced by the head.

i always use protection like the phones on the clip ou in ear phones to cut off the drum sound and still ear the drums and the guitars and vocals.

It's not 7/4, at all. 7/8 would be broken into 3/4-4/4, or 4/4-3/4. It's not "how you count it", it's counted in 8ths for this song. 7/4 is 14/8.

Yep. They're made by Evans. There's a circular piece of velcro on each end. One sticks to the drum head and one sticks to the side of the drum.
Then, you can adjust the amount of dampening by where you stick the dampener to the velcro. They're pretty nice.
