BRYAN FERRY, said of all his solo efforts, "IN YOUR MIND was his least favorite" FERRY, said, "it just didn't feel right"..this was the first solo album since the break up of ROXY MUSIC, that all the songs were written by BRYAN FERRY..from it.."TOKYO JOE".."PARTY DOLL" "ROCK OF AGES" "THIS IS TOMORROW" "ALL NIGHT OPERATOR" and "LOVE ME MADLY" are all great songs..
@801liveable I have to disagree with His Holiness on this one. In Your Mind is one of Bryan's best efforts, and certainly far better than later works (particularly the lost years of Boys and Girls, Bete Noir, Mamouna).
@w0mblemania i just wrote down what FERRY, said in a 3-part interview with PAUL GAMBACCINI..i agree. i thinK "IN YOUR MIND" is great..check out the interview, YOU-TUBE. like i said 3-parts..AH SO....
@w0mblemania by the way i think "BOYS AND GIRLS" is very good too..you're right "BETE NOIRE" isn't but there are a few good songs there.."NEW TOWN" AND "7 DEADLY SINS......the title track.."WHICH WAY TO TURN" AND "WILDCAT DAYS"..on "MAMOUNA" are very good also....for what it's worth..
The man is genius and here is another of his poignant songs to prove it. It is amazing to think that this is only one of his 'minor' works. It is great.

Truly a masterpiece of lyrics, voice, and music. Simultaneously instilling utter longing and melancholy while at the same time inspiring hope for tomorrow. Thank you Bryan for creating heart-aching lyrics and bringing them to life with song.
This wonderful song makes me cry...Hark the frozen chimes .... Deep inside you shall find...First you sowin" , then you growin", then you reep!!! UNTIL you sleep....WHAT A GREAT SUPERB ALBUM!
holy cow, i listened to another song called " In Your Mind " by andrew gerbasi. Very nicely done have a listen and post a comment if you agree. Cheers.
Using Spedding for lead instead of Manzanera was intentional by Ferry so as to get a decidedly diff sound than ROXY. The combination worked well and Manzanera on rhythm made for excellent guitar play all around.
I saw this show at Cleveland Music Hall. What a band. Was basically Roxy with Spedding, John Wetton, and Ann O'Dell doing mostly Ferry's solo stuff. They slipped in a few Roxy songs like Out of the Blue with Manzanera blowing the house down with his solo.
And while you´re strollin´ Through the summer of your years Enchanted, a garden overgrown Don´t call me sentimental Those of you who care Could find there a lover and a friend.....to the end And if you´re taken By the sprit of your age No reason to carve a cornerstone Sway me, trade me Your philosophy- First you´re sowin´ Then you´re growin´ Then you reap......until you sleep
Will you scale the silver studded mountain Where contemplation´ll spring to mind See the veiled prophet's withered gaze Reflect the "nouvelle-vague" Glazed visions imprisoned in your mind Unwinding rivers flowing through the meadows To the sea - paths of glory Through shifting glades to fall Present laughter and the memory Of troubles you have seen It is written in your mind
I put on this song in a Wimpy bar in Bradford summer of 1977. Was interrailing UK with a friend. The cafe was full of punk-rockers staring angry at my catalina-jacket and white tennis-shoes. Me and a friend ran out, bad vibes, wrong culture. Still the milkshake and burgers were great..
Saw this tour at a 1/3 full Winterland with Mother's Finest opening (nice booking Mr. Graham). Very memorable show and best guitar duel ever between Spedding and Manzanera despite Phil's sweater. Thanks for posting this gem.
band members on this tour: Chris Spedding (guitar), John Wetton (bass, vocal), Paul Thompson (drums), Phil Manzanera (guitar), Ann Odell (keyboard), Chris Mercer (sax), Mel Collins (sax, see 4:32), Martin Drover (trumpet), Frankie Collins (chorus), Dyan Birch (chorus), Paddy McHugh (chorus)
I would like this comment to be concise, economical, pithy, attacking, straightforward, simple, and direct. I don't want to get caught up in over-decorative language, flowery adjectives, or sweeping overstatements, but I want to be able to express my love to this song. Why set myself in this tricky brief? Because I would like to be able to write the way Chris Spedding plays guitar. But that's impossible to do, so I give up.
@PeterVonRock Chris Spedding is Mahler on a flying V. The guitar break becomes an unearthly human voice of achingly beautiful composition and sonority. Dig the flat 5 B naturals in the guitar lead at the very end.
one of my favorite guitar solos ever

Hark the frozen chimes of winter
Crystal shimmer in your mind
To the first time when you saw her
You implored her to be kind
In the open fields around you
All before you gone to ground
Both the question and the answer
Deep inside you - you shall find

do you think he put the subtitles in Chinese for those who do not read Chinese? Or maybe the video had the subtiles on prior? Wow you are aMoron.
