When filming, which i have worked with a independent director, you will learn to be a statue if you are not in the scene. But Christian Bale... seriously... It's not about wealth but frustration. Another take can take hours: resetting cameras, set, props, fx, costumes. This could have been the end of a 16 hour day. And its most likely a publicity stunt. No, instead Ledger couldn't handle the pressures of a role, got addicted to sleeping Pills, and OD'd.
I'm a massive fan of both actors, and Ledger has had a couple of good roles, and the Joker, you buttfuck him because of the Joker. Bale has had about the same amount of as good roles as Ledger, but they've not been blockbusters, and he didn't die whilst filming any of them, so he's not gonna get the recognition he deserves. whilst it took Ledgers death for him to get the awards he deserves.

my goodness! I am more saddened by the comments than Bale's behaviour. This happens ALL the time on sets with actors and directors (the egos) GET OVER IT! or boycott all hollywood movies! It's not about wealth but frustration. Another take can take hours: resetting cameras, set, props, fx, costumes. This could have been the end of a 16 hour day. And its most likely a publicity stunt. Confidentiality agreements usually prevent this from getting out. Celebrity culture and obsession prevails!

would love to know if they were shooting or rehearsing... A d.p's job is to light the scene so the actor looks good. Surprising when you meet an actor in the flesh and you realise how well 'lit' they were. And I dont think the d.p wuld have to worry bout working with Christian Bale again.... seems to me like no one will be working with Chris for a loooong time

the poor d.p. tried to apologize repeatedly... it probably would have benefitted bale more to get knocked down a few ego knotches when the ranting continued beyond all reason. kissing his butt despite the abuse will never improve the situation in the long run.

Wow. What an asshole. I used to be in theater & I understand how frustrating it can be when a particularly good take or rehearsal is ruined but it was really unnecessary for him to go all apeshit on the poor dude, especially since he didn't do in on purpose.
I'd still watch Christian Bale's films because he's a really talented actor, though.

Then again, I think Nicolas Cage used to be awesome but that opinion has been met with disagreement in some quarters.

I usually look forward to movies with Christian Bale in it, two of my favorite movies of all time have him in it. Unfortunately, now I don't think I can watch them without having this in the back of my mind...this doesn't look like it'll be good for his career at all. Still, in the end the guy he was yelling at gets the last laugh, this is all over the internet now - it was probably worth the 4 minutes he got yelled at to ruin so many years of Christian's career. Albeit unintentionally...

I can separate the person himself from the work, so I don't think my watching his films will be marred by this. I do agree with you on the career-ruining point, though.
It's funny how he questioned the DP's professionalism, when he was in the middle of a damning display of his own lack thereof. I've had something similar happen to me this year & while it was infuriating initially, I found myself laughing about it later.
Bale's gonna need A LOT of P.R. And even that might not help.
