  • press 1 n he says ass

  • u made this on my b day

  • hey mr g did u have to magnatise this needle by rubbing a magn et on it in one direction

  • Mr G is a fuckin boss

  • mr.g did i hear the course word shit at the end of the video

  • do you no any thing else to do with dry ice if so can you make another vid on it and where did you get the dry ice i live in ohio

  • whats up with the snake gmen

  • i was wondering :'c

  • *thats

  • That awesome

  • Im confused about the snake

  • whenever mr g says "lets take this one step further" my brain just goes "AW SHIT"

  • would you be willing to replace my science teacher?

  • @RandomFactOfTheWeek1 r is Rude

  • How often are there new episodes of Do Try This At Home?

  • i think because of the shape of the glass we are not able to make the cape on centre of the water.....is m riht?

  • you should be a teacher for like young kids. id bet the would really like you

  • Thats what i needed to start my Science exercises...Its all about magnetic fields and stuff..:D

Keep it up Mr. G!! ;)

  • now just add a drop of Dish soap! lol (speaking of which do you know why soap breaks the surface tension of water? hehehehehe I do)

  • That's awesome! :)

  • that snake scared me! D:

  • #poop

  • that the thing goes into the middle is not that exciting, but that you can make a compass like this is awesome.

If i ever were in the need of a compass i now know what to do haha

  • I shook my computer when the glass was full. It was very odd.

  • @mal3akiscool

When calling someone dumb, one should at least be able to spell the word dumb. Otherwise, the statement loses its effectiveness and backfires! Remember though, all is not lost! Simply by adding my response to your original statement, many others will get a good laugh, and might even learn to be more careful with their spelling when posting insults.

Thanks for making us smile, keep up the good work!

    -- Mr. G

  • @Mindpaint

He have a little right about that because your ideas starts to taking to an end. I mean, before it was cool stuff, but now ... a screw cap on the surface of the water? People who have not seen your glory days might think you're a little dumb.

  • @Mindpaint not to mention he used the wrong your

  • @nowzor

    True.

    -- Mr.G

  • @nowzor it only one your and that your

  • @Mindpaint and wheres that period?

  • @Mindpaint haha you dissed him............

  • @mal3akiscool ur a douche

  • @mal3akiscool how dare you compare your inteligence to his (one word was spelled wrong on purpose)

  • @mal3akiscool call he dumb if you CAN do all the tricks and suceed

  • MR.G this is awesome! I count on watching your videos each time I come on youtube. Please do some more videos with FIRE!!, is there any more experiments you have under your sleeve that uses fire?

  • how did the water get full agian he poured some out??

  • You remind me of David Blaine lol. Look I have proven surface tension, but wait look into the glass, now it's a compass. Love your vids man.

  • haha thats really cool, keep em coming! :-)

  • this is a good survival tip to find which way is north!!! but u need a cup xD

  • This is awesome. I was sold with just the cap-centering. But the addition of the compass part of the experiment makes this something I'm going to repeat over and over again.

  • "that uses normal household items" uuh... about that... i live in the street...

    jk lol

  • Why does it point North??Is North more magnetic?

  • What are the pictures at the very end of the videos

  • my internet's being a pain, could you please explain what happens in the video and how to do it? thanks.

  • was you always a clever science student, or are you on of those people who just know how to do fun 'tricks'?

  • Can´t you do some experiments with Helium and Sulfur Hexafluoride?

  • Mr.gay

  • why is he always being attacked by poison ivy???

  • what was the bottle for?????

  • mr.greg

i prefer you use this intro

  • this vid is awesome!!

  • That's fucking cool that could save your life if you were lost

  • @fattytwatful you could also use to sun to find out where you are.

  • :O !

  • I hear a ticking time bomb in the back ground !

  • So freakin cool!!! totally gonna try this so AMAZING! :D its usefull too

  • i really really love you Mr.G You Teach me Way More Then All 30 Of My Teachers

  • what did he tear couldnt hear him

  • My god, you're a wizard!

  • great video as always. have you ever thought of making dvds of your shows. they are great teaching tools. i would totally buy them.

  • wtf hax

  • did you just build a compass mr. g?

  • that would explain why it seems that cereal attracts itself (everyone knows what i'm talking about, i hope) when you get to the last couple pieces of cereal

  • Yes!!! This intro song is so much better

  • You should do an experiment on angular momentum. It's a fascinating topic.

  • love this intro song much better.

  • This videos music was awesome! Best one I have ever heard

  • Random snake at the end lol

  • That intro made me dizzy O.o

  • Good video Thats very sneaky

  • yay 101st like

  • yess the old intro is back, this one is the best, you should keep it

  • Whoa, thats a Macgyver compass if I ever saw one, another good video.

  • MR.G this is awesome! I count on watching your videos each time I come on youtube. Please do some more videos with FIRE!!, is there any more experiments you have under your sleeve that uses fire?

  • @turner850

There are! More on the way in the summer.

    -- Mr. G

  • @Mindpaint LOL more chance to start a forest fire XD

  • @mr.g hope you recover ASAP

  • omg thats so cool

  • @sk8boardin4life97

Well, thank you for the concern. Any ideas on a new summer hobby to replace boomerang flying? I'm told I won't be sprinting or jumping any time soon. A new upper body intensive hobby seems in order. It's gonna be a tough summer! I've always looked at my viewers as a kind of extended family as well. Again, Thank You!

    -- Mr. G

  • @Mindpaint i ahve this hobby for you like tech decking

  • @Mindpaint Kayaking, or any other kind of rowing might be good if you have water nearby.

  • @robertprpic01 i was talking about all the stuff he dose to win bet money

  • Mindblowing!!!

  • Snake?

  • i shaked my monitor and guess what... if fill some water out!

  • Don't worry Mr. G, i was worrying about your leg

  • That's crazy! I'm gonna try it today!

  • loldongs

  • holy goddamn fuck

  • one thing only :please try making your video a liitle bit shorter with less blah-blah because i really like them but i dont have much time to watch them....:)

  • @DictatorGBb

That's just one problem with the world today. Everyone is always in a hurry. Instant gratification syndrome, I like to call it. Think about it for a moment. In the grand scheme of life, do a couple of minutes really make a huge difference? If you answer yes, all I can say is, "Slow Down!" Enjoy the subtleties in life.

    -- Mr. G

  • is evry needle magnetised?

or do you have to rub a magnet on it first?

  • @whoeveriam0iam14222 rub a magnet on it first

  • @whoeveriam0iam14222 eerrrr nvm for this experiment you dont need to run a magnet

  • @whoeveriam0iam14222

Most needles are magnets to a small degree due to molecular alignment from simply sewing with them. I have found that even brand new needles are even very small magnets. However, if your compass fails, stroking the needle in one direction about 50 times with silk will do the trick, or stroking it in one direction with a magnet, even only a few times, should do the trick. The needle will work with a nearly imperceivable amount of a self magnetic field present.

    -- Mr. G

  • Thank you!

As with ALL of your other experiments I tried, this one worked perfectly and exactly as you said!

  • YOU BROUGHT BACK THE OLD INTRO!?!?!?!?!?!? WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO

  • This is useful

  • 6:15 did Mr. G use profanity!?! D: lol

  • Awesome experiment Mr. G This is the first one I tried since last year's night-vision sunglasses ;)

  • wow so awsome

  • the intro makes me nauseous

  • I was mezmorized (or magnetized) by this video!! Good job Mr G!!

  • @Mindpaint i was wondering... glad you are doing better

  • DUDE thats actually really freakin cool i was in shock

  • lol Mr. G said a bad word xD that's a rarity.

  • @JokerTheWicked where does he say a bad word?

  • @cory0203 in the bloopers he hits the camera an says shit

  • @JokerTheWicked

    Actually, I said shoot.

    -- Mr. G

  • @Mindpaint Well now, don't I feel foolish.....nonetheless, interesting experiment.

  • @JokerTheWicked

Don't feel foolish, several others thought I said that too!

    -- Mr. G

  • @Mindpaint lies

  • i got stung by a bee in the neck yesterday

  • @Mindpaint so is that convex and concave?

  • @TheBlacksabbathfan9

When the water is below the rim, it is convex, when the water is above the rim of the glass, the meniscus is concave.

    -- Mr. G

  • poor you, hopefully the muscle scar isnt that big

  • in the outtakes thats the first time ive heard you swear

  • whats with the snake at the end?

  • hey mr. g how does magnetic north work like is there a magnet that is really powerful of something…….. how does it work? please reply

  • @50iamawsome

The Earth's North Magnetic Pole, the point on the surface of the Northern Hemisphere at which the Earth's magnetic field points vertically downwards, is known as magnetic north. Though it's in the north, it is actually somewhat south of the Earth's north pole. The direction in which a compass needle points is known as magnetic north. The compass actually aligns itself to the local geomagnetic field, which varies over the Earth's surface, and moves over time.

    -- Mr. G

  • Sounds like you're running out of ideas. :\

  • @dreadedcom

Why do you think that? Actually, I just compiled a list of possible experiments for future shows. The list is 43 experiments long. Science has no end.

    -- Mr. G

  • @Mindpaint Agreed!

  • @Mindpaint i think he says ur out of ideas cuz this isnt ur best show, but it doesnt matter, i enjoyed it.

  • @jdroker

I see. This video actually demonstrates several scientific principles. Surface tension of a liquid, molecular adhesion, geomagnetism, meniscus, even gravity and buoyancy to some degree. I kind of like this one! Hope you did too. More is really going on here than first meets the eye.

    -- Mr. G

  • thanx for brining ur old intro back :)

  • @warofdestruction1

After hundreds of pieces of hate mail, I thought it was time. Change isn't always good, and I've come to realize that nostalgia goes a long way!

    -- Mr. G

  • best MR.G vid in a long time and has the best intro music as well.

  • what if my needle keeps spinning in around and doesnt stop o.o

  • yes the good song is back

  • the strange thing about his compass...it pointed north for me two :)

  • woohoo old theme song :D

  • illegal black magic

  • Thumbs up for the Old Intro Back!

  • Amazing how that needle is affected by the poles! Nice job Mr. G!

  • Whaat editing program do you use?

  • Thanks for bringing back the old song. The other ones were pretty lame.

  • last!!!!

  • magnetic north is in the south. that is why the north pole of a magnet points north. opposite poles attract.

  • Hope you feel/get better Mr. G!

  • Err... i kinda got really dizzy from the intro, lol

  • Mr. G thats awsome! its great survival skill lol, more like this plz?

  • can i haz MP3 of the intro song plz *insert cute kitteh begging*

  • @miesrah12

    Sure.

    -- Mr. G

  • @Mindpaint thx

    -Miesrah12

  • yay more video updates

  • Isn't this called a miniscus

  • @eyespopify

Yes, that's correct, and actually, depending upon the liquid, it can be convex or concave... it would require several minutes to talk about the science behind the Meniscus, I just simplified it. Oddly, it also deals with anatomy, with a meniscus tear being a common knee injury.

    -- Mr. G

  • @eyespopify the miniscus is surface tension

  • @eyespopify No, a meniscus dips down.

  • @jjmaster14 if you look mind paints answer he explains that is either concave or convex

  • @eyespopify yea my bad:P

  • @jjmaster14 It's Okay not everyone sees all uploader comments

  • Mr. G, are you wearing an Ashland University t-shirt?

  • @MrKinkykent

Same city, wrong group. It's an Ashland Cloud Chaser's t-shirt. Good eye though!

    -- Mr. G

  • @Mindpaint Do you live near Ashland?

  • what about the water bottle, you just needed the cap

  • @jordinjm

    Correct, sorry about that.

    -- Mr. G

  • @Mindpaint ok

  • @Mindpaint i guess you could use the water bottle for the water and not need the pitcher

  • hey mr.g, I would love to know how you make your intros! please reply!

    cbbc

  • @cbbcfantastica

The video portion is done with Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 stock effects, the audio is written, recorded and produced by me, right here at home. I use various instruments, Sony Acid Pro, a good mic, and a slew of VST plugins.

    -- Mr. G

  • Hey Mr. G!

There is no such thing as a "more magnetic end" on a magnetized needle..

  • @Psmoori you're dumb and that's all im gona say XD

  • @Psmoori

Not true. The end with MORE material will have a greater magnetic draw, the less massive end will be less magnetic due to less mass to be magnetized.

    -- Mr. G

  • @Mindpaint Correction, there is NO arguing with Mr. G because he always is right. Mr. G's knowledge > Anyone else's. End of story. Period. Psmoor, your argument is invalid.

  • @Mindpaint om sorry, but you are wrong, a magnet contains to poles, south and north. the south pole is getting dragged to the north pole

  • @Mindpaint

Both ends of the needle has equal magnetic force. There is not yet discovered magnetic monopoles. If the needles thin end was a south-pole, that would make it point to north.

  • then explain why its turning.

  • @Psmoori actually that is incorrect. there is a such thing have you ever seen survivor man? he makes compasses like that all the time, when his breaks.

  • i bet you have loads of money beting peopole with this stuff :)

  • @kalin334 lol

  • My cock just enlarged.

  • 47 th :D
