Do some math, you'll see that you can build a nasty ka-t for the cost of just the sr20 itself. If you find one local to you, it might come out to be about the same. but its still not a fresh motor. CHEAP, FAST, RELIABLE. pick two.

So if i were to do ka-t i would have to rebuild this engine first! Now a rebuild kit with forged internals and alot of good performance engine parts is $1600 without me paying any labor for someone to do it! Just that kit cost the same as a sr20 itself! I would rather do ka-t cause i like the ka but its too much!

I am ASE certified in engine repair and service, so I think I know what I am talking about. The only reason that people buy SR20s is because they are already turbocharged. An SR20 has an aluminum head and block, and is therefore not as strong. The CA18, KA24, and RB20/25/26 all have iron blocks, making them much more worthy of turbochargers. And the torque thing; KA24 has more torque period. The SR20's torque comes from the turbo. Not the engine. That is why it gets it's torque at a higher RPM.
the sr20det doesnt have "less" strength than a ka. yes the blocks aluminum. all internals are forged on the sr20det as well. LSx motors (gm small blocks corvettes, camaro ss, gto's) are all aluminum, are those weak? Im just making sure your correct when you try to sway someone one way or the other. ive got a fully forged ka-t myself...love it to death and wouldnt dream of sr. and btw..if i wasnt so tall i would own a boosted miata as well....beasts

@240sxGuy3 Yup it's an sohc and 5 speed for sure! No bitch-o-matic. It's also a hatch I'm not a big fan of the coupes but I love the hatches. The only thing I know I'm getting as soon as I can is a 3" ebay exhaust like you lol most people with 240's have them. Then probably an intake. Then me and my dad are probably gonna sand it down and get rid of the little bit of rust it has and maybe paint it a matte black but I'm not sure because the color it is now is nice and no one has it!
@jersthecool Ya i really only like the hatch, unless the coupe has the silvia front end conversion and blacked out taillights!!! But you should get the same EXACT Ebay Catback as mine!! It sounds great, fits amazing, and we have noticed the extra power!!! The only real problem with mine, is we cant seem to get the silencer out, which yours may be different, and also it sounds good even with the silencer!! Its not too loud, but defenently is noticeable!! My friends think i should just keep it on!
@240sxGuy3 Yeah I looked at probably 20 different exhausts and the one you have is my second choice but this other one I found works out cheaper and has a very good build quality. Some guy made a post on some site about it and it looks great and he said even after a couple of years it's still perfect and it even comes with a test pipe too!

All i really need to do to it, is fix the body rust and paint it, then ill probobly sell it for more money, and save up a little to just buy an sr20det 240sx! I would make this my project car and put one in this, but its so expensive to have the swap done, labor is a bitch, and when you sell it you dont get money for all the labor charges!I would rather buy one with it in already, and go from there!

@240sxGuy3 Yup it's an sohc and 5 speed for sure! No bitch-o-matic. It's also a hatch I'm not a big fan of the coupes but I love the hatches. The only thing I know I'm getting as soon as I can is a 3" ebay exhaust like you lol most people with 240's have them. Then probably an intake. Then me and my dad are probably gonna sand it down and get rid of the little bit of rust it has and maybe paint it a matte black but I'm not sure because the color it is now is nice and no one has it!

@jersthecool Ya i really only like the hatch, unless the coupe has the silvia front end conversion and blacked out taillights!!! But you should get the same EXACT Ebay Catback as mine!! It sounds great, fits amazing, and we have noticed the extra power!!! The only real problem with mine, is we cant seem to get the silencer out, which yours may be different, and also it sounds good even with the silencer!! Its not too loud, but defenently is noticeable!! My friends think i should just keep it on!

@240sxGuy3 Yeah I looked at probably 20 different exhausts and the one you have is my second choice but this other one I found works out cheaper and has a very good build quality. Some guy made a post on some site about it and it looks great and he said even after a couple of years it's still perfect and it even comes with a test pipe too!
