I have been struggling over this verse until I prayed. Then I found your video. Thank you. I am also enlightened to know of the PC Study Bible. Praise Be To Yesuha, the Almighty God Forever. Bless You.
He that BELIEVETH SHALL BE SAVED...Water doesn't save you THE BLOOD OF JESUS SAVES YOU...Baptism is the first step after salvation...Romans 10:13 For WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL upon the NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED...YOU WELCOME!!! Buddy you can get Baptize everyday and you still will be condemn ..Than why did Jesus die on the cross? HELLO...
Thank you for this video. It makes the passage make more sense, considering how we have so few words with precise meaning in comparison to the Greek language
I commend my brothers and sisters in Christ who insist upon ritual baptism by immersion. I commend you for your zeal in trying to ensure that God's Word is followed to the letter.
However, I think you may be missing the forest because of the trees.
Don't just blindly quote narrow passages of scripture. Use the brain God gave you to consider the totality of the Bible, and the main idea of Jesus.
His whole ministry was about replacing a "rules based" faith with a "principles based" faith.
Jesus name baptism is not a ritual but a commandment. If it were a "ritual" then we'd be ritually baptizing ourselves weekly or monthly or whatever then it'd be "ritual". Baptism in Jesus name is done once which doesn't make it a ritual by definition. Christ actually did give commandments or "rules" not philosophical principles. For those not baptized in Jesus name for remission of sins they'd have to be baptized properly or it's useless.
I was baptized by immersion in water. It was the proudest day of my life and I hope my children will do so one day as well.
That said, this was only a symbolic gesture, of what had already taken place in my heart; the baptism by the Holy Spirit that Jesus performed on my soul at the moment I gave my life to him. If I had died in a car accident on the way to my water baptism, I have no doubt I would have gone to heaven, because it is what is inside that matters, not what is on the outside.
First, this verse was not included in the original text of this gospel. The earliest tests end at verse 8, so there are significant doubts as to the authenticity of verses 9 through 20.
Second, people should not confuse the ritual baptism with the spiritual baptism. There is NO reason to think that this verse is referring to the ritual (water) baptism. Instead, it may refer to the baptism with the Holy Spirit, that only Jesus can perform.
Absolutely. Acts 5:32 says the Spirit is given to those who obey, which also means they had to believe to receive the Spirit as well. So, this person who believed, obeyed the Lord's commands unto salvation, of which baptism would be one of those commands.
You don't receive the Spirit if you don't obey, just as Acts 5:32 says. Disobeying is tantamount to unbelief, so not being baptized is as if you don't believe.
Which is why a person needs to be in contact with the blood of Christ, which continually washes away sin. Now, the argument is how to come in contact with that blood. You're saying baptism is part of that process, I'm saying it is. What does the word of God say?
to answer the Thief on the Cross issue look at Mark 2:10 in this verse Jesus declared that He had the power to forgive sins while He was on earth. The thief on the cross didn't need to be baptized, his sins were forgiven before Jesus died. Had Jesus died before He would have been lost, but Jesus spoke Him into salvation. Then Jesus, and thats when the new covenant began!
One caveat on this point, Jesus died before the theif on the cross whom he saved. Accordingly, between the time of Jesus' death and the theif's (a matter of minutes or hours presumably), the theif did sin again (be it impure thoughts or whatever) as all mortals do, so in order for him to still enter the kingdom, he must have been forgiven again after Jesus died. One can only assume he was forgiven because of his faith.
A thought is not a sin. when you act on an evil thought, that is sin.
random things may pop into your mind without you consent, especially if you are a man.
But sin is defined as a willful or deliberate violation of God Law and word.
I've never heard your theories. you have absolutely no bible references which prove the thief sinned again. he was hanging on a tree for crying out loud...what could he have done? im sure he was a bit pinned down at that time.
Actually someone else addressed my point in pointing out that the theif was saved prior to the resurrection, so he was not saved under the new covenant, and accordingly the new rules did not apply to him.
As to how I know he sinned again though, I can only assume that he did because he was a man, not God, so he, like us, was incapable of living without sin, no matter how brief the time. Also, not to get off on a tangent, but thought (ie: coveting) can be a sin.
I believe its ONE baptism with 2 elements mentioned in John 3:5. We baptize by water, God comes in and baptizes us with His Spirit. For if He commanded us to baptize in the spirit how would we go about doing that? Baptism by the Spirit is something only God can do....

Two important thoughts on Mark 16:16:
First, this verse was not included in the original text of this gospel. The earliest tests end at verse 8, so there are significant doubts as to the authenticity of verses 9 through 20.

warm up question:-
some guy gets converted and receives the holy spirit.
then he dies.
is he saved?

Absolutely. Acts 5:32 says the Spirit is given to those who obey, which also means they had to believe to receive the Spirit as well. So, this person who believed, obeyed the Lord's commands unto salvation, of which baptism would be one of those commands.

everytime you sin you disobey God.

the word of God is clear - faith in Jesus Christ. (and adding no works unto it)

i don't think so. Mark 2 is simply the gospel "come to Jesus for the forgiveness of sins"
It's the same now, then and even in the OC.

Are you supposed to have the Love Of Jesus in you towards your fellow man? if so, please refrain from diagnosing someone as a "Heretic".
bobbo345 2 years ago
I didn't call you a heretic to be mean, but because you are a worker of satan and deceived.
You are spreading a false gospel and unless God gives you repentance unto the acknowledging of the truth you will perish in hell for all eternity.
Testallthings 2 years ago
Dear heretic.
Baptism in Mark 16:16 is not refering to water baptism.
There is an article on my website explaining Mark 16:16. The link is on my profile.
Mark 1:8
I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
Chris
Jesus is Lord!

Mark 16:16 compliments Matthew 28:19. These are two different accounts of the same speech that Jesus gave at his ascension.
So If I am to believe that Mark 16:16 is not referring to water baptism, this means that Matthew 28:19 also is not referring to water baptism.
This view is not evidenced with the scriptures.
