Joke?? ... There ARE a lot of very expensive machines out there now... but i can assure you that mine isn't one of them!! This was built by myself and my family, over a much longer time period than i had anticipated. What I have now has been developed from very meagre beginnings a few years back. I am very much a 'budget' racer- I only do what I can afford when i can afford it. I have been autograssing most of my life, and for as long as I can remember there have always been expensive cars!!
You dont know much about Escorts thats for sure. I had a great deal of success in Autograss class 2 and later in class 3 in an Escort. Its a fact that money and Nasa have made autograss an expencive sport for what it is. 2 x 4 laps and a final. Most meetings dont even have fun raceing anymore. Oh and i own 2 Escorts of a sort a class 3 Autograsser and MKII project car , but my comment was about autograss being to costly not about silly comments on Escorts
i agree with you that the cost of autograss is silly in a lot of cases. and i think the amount some people spend is obscene. but all to their own, but i get a great deal of satisfaction doing well for the little amount i spent in comparison, but i have the benefit of being able to build the car myself. sorry about the comment on escorts, but i still dont like them. :). i just didn't like my favourite racing sport being called the poor mans motorsport. its a sport for everyone.
@escortmk112 After our initial misunderstanding (which I have removed)... I agree with about the fact that since this is an entry level class of racing then why should anyone need to fit a custom chassis to a car in order to compete? I am assuming, based on your reply to me, that Auto Grass used to be a class for people whom took the wore out family car and installed a safety cage and maybe a seat and went racing for the first time.
Are they hard to build and how long did it take u??
