These things anyone can do anywhere. HU is not any more special...

Good points, and if I still attended Harding I would have to agree with you. I no longer go to Harding. However, I think those-especially upperclassmen-who are at Harding and are vocal in their disgust are not necessarily hypocrites as most of these students are practically unable to transfer due to Harding's notorious reputation for its lack of credit transfers to other universities. Think twice before going to Harding. The rules are more than absurd and truly limit the college experience while hindering a true education and transition from highschool to the real world. If you want to go to a school that is full of corruption and not even close to a Christian school...then choose Harding. If you want to be 22 years old, engaged, and paying for your entire education yourself while having a MIDNIGHT CURFEW...then choose Harding.
If you want to pay, on average, around $80,000 dollars for a four-year degree that is not even nationally-known, that those in the business world outside of Arkansas haven't even heard of...then go to Harding. Christian colleges have always had, and will always have "corrupt" people. Often times students that come in on sports and/or academic scholarships are attending because their tuition is being paid for, NOT for the Christian atmosphere. They complain about chapel, Bible, party, break rules (act worldy) - and represent their school to be as such. Harding has rules, which are there to be followed. If you don't want to be in by midnight, why did you apply? (continued)
There ARE good people that go to these schools. They are attending because they want to be in a spiritually rich environment, to grow in Christ, while getting their education. If you're there to stay up late and party, I think you chose the wrong school. If you're there to grow, then find others with the same goal, make friendships, have fun, and grow. Having these bad attitudes and complaining about HU does nothing for anyone. Truly, your experience is what you make of it.
Well we agree on some things. I agree that 'Christian colleges have always had "corrupt" people.' I agree that 'students come to Harding for reasons other than a Christian environment...I guess for the sub-par academia. I agree that there ARE good people that go to these schools. That having been said I must share my disagreements. I think that one is misleading to propagate that Harding is a place a student should attend to 'grow.'
Growing is a form of maturity and learning. Harding hinders both of those pertinent aspects of both an education and development. Learning comes from the welcoming of multiple schools of thought and occurs best through an environment of open-mindedness, not closed-minded stiffness and forced traditional beliefs. How can one transition, to the best of one's ability, from High-school to the real world in this setting.
I'm talking about Dorm moms who check to see if you've made your bed—when you are 21 years old. I'm speaking of being penalized for skipping too many classes—even when you are making A's on all of the tests, homework, quizzes, etc. I'm talking about forced worship at 9 AM daily (which is normally attributed to sleeping or studying). This is about being forced to buy an unreasonable meal plan each semester.
As a college student we should be learning how to better manage our time and money—not forced to. We should be able to skip classes—especially if we are still successfully completing the work required of us. We should be able to worship God when and how we want. And for goodness sake—we are old enough to be able to buy our own food when and where we want to.
How are we supposed to transition easily into the real world without learning these things in college? THAT IS WHAT COLLEGE IS PARTLY ABOUT! Trust me; I could go on and on. But this is a youtube post and I'm getting bored.
I went to York, although I've visited Harding. I knew a guy on the soccer team who said the food was the worst part about HU. York sounds a bit more lax. I guess I still go with what I said about not applying if you don't like the rules. I agree with your disagreements though. Did I see a gymnastics room in one of your videos? We study about the Pharisees, these ultra-religious scholas yet see how they were perhaps the most corrupt generation of the Jewish people. There is a direct correlation to our times in Christianity. Good points, and if I still attended Harding I would have to agree with you. I no longer go to Harding. However, I think those-especially upperclassmen-who are at Harding and are vocal in their disgust are not necessarily hypocrites as most of these students are practically unable to transfer due to Harding's notorious reputation for its lack of credit transfers to other universities. And yes, this video was used to trick freshman into thinking that Searcy was actually a college town...pathetic.

Think twice before going to Harding. The rules are more than absurd and truly limit the college experience while hindering a true education and transition from highschool to the real world. If you want to go to a school that is full of corruption and not even close to a Christian school...then choose Harding. If you want to be 22 years old, engaged, and paying for your entire education yourself while having a MIDNIGHT CURFEW...then choose Harding.

If you want to pay, on average, around $80,000 dollars for a four-year degree that is not even nationally-known, that those in the business world outside of Arkansas haven't even heard of...then go to Harding. Christian colleges have always had, and will always have "corrupt" people. Often times students that come in on sports and/or academic scholarships are attending because their tuition is being paid for, NOT for the Christian atmosphere. They complain about chapel, Bible, party, break rules (act worldy) - and represent their school to be as such. Harding has rules, which are there to be followed. There ARE good people that go to these schools. They are attending because they want to be in a spiritually rich environment, to grow in Christ, while getting their education. If you're there to stay up late and party, I think you chose the wrong school. If you're there to grow, then find others with the same goal, make friendships, have fun, and grow. Having these bad attitudes and complaining about HU does nothing for anyone. Truly, your experience is what you make of it.

I agree that 'students come to Harding for reasons other than a Christian environment...I guess for the sub-par academia. I agree that there ARE good people that go to these schools. That having been said I must share my disagreements. I think that one is misleading to propagate that Harding is a place a student should attend to 'grow.'

Growing is a form of maturity and learning. Harding hinders both of those pertinent aspects of both an education and development. Learning comes from the welcoming of multiple schools of thought and occurs best through an environment of open-mindedness, not closed-minded stiffness and forced traditional beliefs. How can one transition, to the best of one's ability, from High-school to the real world in this setting.

I'm talking about Dorm moms who check to see if you've made your bed—when you are 21 years old. I'm speaking of being penalized for skipping too many classes—even when you are making A's on all of the tests, homework, quizzes, etc. I'm talking about forced worship at 9 AM daily (which is normally attributed to sleeping or studying). This is about being forced to buy an unreasonable meal plan each semester.

I went to York, although I've visited Harding. I knew a guy on the soccer team who said the food was the worst part about HU. York sounds a bit more lax. I guess I still go with what I said about not applying if you don't like the rules. I agree with your disagreements though. Did I see a gymnastics room in one of your videos? I would be a robot for HU if I could use that place. I'm applying right now. Good discussion.
