I have Both Massive and fm8... For my honest opinion i use massive way more than i do FM8 but I do use Fm8 ALOT!!! there both worth it but massive is a bit more fun
@tylerisalreadydead - FM8 has maybe more raw power due to the form of synthesis in FM8. Quite a few reputable artists use FM8..... it has quite a reputation with some guys.
@leparditas - Not the best since it's only 1 sound at a time, but it's very powerful.... I suggest looking at uTonic by Sonic Charge..... spend a few minuets in the Patternarium on their site and you'll be impressed.
I've bought all of the Guru's power packs and they are fabulous. All ready to go stuff for a few dollars...and let's face it ,Skip's one of the best in the business so show some respect ! Onya guru. When you doing an Omnisphere power pack?
When I automate something in the Easy/Morph panel and save the project it's like I hit "apply" and the automation restart at the point it was when I saved the project.
It's annoying to have to put all the parameters at the "0" value before I save my project every single time.
Yes. Don't get me wrong, guys like you are awesome! I learned how to program because their are people like you providing sounds to examine and learn from. I'm just saying what I learned from playing around with other peoples sounds.
@connor2444 - if you can make record ready patches ready to slap on an album, go for it. I provide these tutorials to help y'all get there. Download my free demo bank of patches, if you want more, buy the whole pack. If not, then make your own patches, music and be happy..... :D
@connor2444 I agree with you but the reality is that most people who "own" this synth have no idea about how to program it. Luckily i have a background in programming patches so I'll pass on the sounds offered but I appreciate the videos for the tutorial aspect.
@Starfire854 - these patches are a steal for $30. When I do voicing work for film composer and album projects, I bill $100 an hour for my work. This Power Pack took well over 200 hours to make.... you do the math.
@lachlunn - I have no idea what patches these are... I have not created any patches with that name and I don't know of any in the factory patches with that name. You can download the free demo from the FM8 website to check for yourself.
Your videos so far have been the most helpful with FM8 I've found. Thank you very much! Btw, your website has broken links. On your main page if you go to FM8 power pack, and click on the image, it goes to a "page does not exist" page. I have yet to go through your free programs, but I have a feeling they are very good.
@Den00Funk - you should be able to use any USB controller into your computer to control FM8.... so yes, the mini-keys are very so so since they lack velocity sensitivity, but they will play notes ok.
hi there! i am just confuse...i have guitar rig4 and using m-audio black box as my audio interface. i plug my guitar into the guitar input of my interface to hear the output and to use the guitar rig4, actually its working just fine. now my question is...can i also use fm8 and use m-audio black box as my audio interface with the guitar as my input?
@eldiondiaz - without a guitar to MIDI converter you will only be able to use FM8 as an effect box - which is nice, but probably not what you want. You need a way to tell FM8 what notes you want it to play which requires a Gtr to MIDI converter.
Your sounds always sound so crisp and fat! Does your music go through a compressor/reverb unit? Do you remember ; when the music begins at 4:57 is that fm8 sounds only?
@CMIKE9783 Yes, all the sounds you hear are from FM8. You can buy those sounds from my website for 30.00 - this is for 80 patches. I promise you they are all kick butt patches :D

Can you check out the featured video on my page. I just want any suggestions on the mix you could give because you look like you know what your talkin about.
It's not bad - you need a killer sub bass pounding in there or something else in the bottom, imo. Also, for verses, take the claps out and have just the snare - it would make it feel a lot less repetitive.
Keep Doin what your doing and find a cute girl to sing a hook on these tracks !!
where would you get hold of the track played at around 1.30-1.45? I know he made all the tracks himself but cant find any links to music on his site..just packs/tutorials. He should release some tracks if he hasn't already.
I accidentally removed a comment from someone that said that FM8 does more than basses and that is very very true. The Rhythm BPM sequence type of patches and chords are also really cool..... it actually does a tone of things really well and with the effects and filters of FM8, it only gets better.
It's a pretty complex synthesizer, but the interface is very clear for the most part. That's why I chose it for my first plug-in. There are a few things that make using FM8 better and easier that I point out in these two tutorials.
as u know hip hop is all about the sampling, and beleive me sampling is all about Kontakt! You could spend days just getting to grips with Kontakt but its very easy to get started, shit I sound like an NI promo guy here!
it wants to scan your PC to create a database of where alll ur samples (audio files )are, you dont have to let it if you knoew which folders you have your samples in (you should keep them all in the same place) although it does let u quick search for them with the database, so its up to you really. Here's a tutorial on Kontakt 3 that should let you know what's what
@tuleo554 - Not sure I totally agree with you - I made some killer basses for the Massive Power Pack but honestly, it's tough to beat 6 oscillators and the type of EQ that FM8 has to work with. Massive is great as well, but for pure sub basses, the low end is tighter with FM8. These all pale when compared to a MiniMoog so go figure.... : >
@tuleo554 Wrong, this is, if you know what your doing. Skrillex & Nosia batter this synth instead of massive which everybody else uses. Get your head around this and your music will stand out!
Thanks, Thalassa. Audio quality is not great even in youtube's high quality mode. I apologize for the loss in audio quality.... the patches and FM8 sound even better than they do in this review.
I remember FM7! :)

Every other genre already have their own patch for FM :)
A synth means you have to make your own sounds and play with the tools that you are given!
