  • Will you ever release tutorial how to install Ubuntu on N900? :D

  • can you download and install Unbuntu applications on it?

  • tutorial will be nice

  • Please, tutorial for this D:

  • It would be great if you tell us how did you install it?... ty.

  • And it can run any ubuntu app?

  • @sucrilhoscomlasanhas I cant tell you if that runs every ubuntu app... But I saw 2apps:

    1. Kile for make LaTeX dateien.

    2. Kicad, Printed Circuit Board for elecronic cards design.

  • does it work on 5800 xpressmusik?

  • @Fraaa1985 It doesn't...

  • hi, how has ubuntu mobile impacted your battery life in comparison to the OS that was installed before it? And does ubuntu mobile run all applications that ubuntu for desktop PCs run? I fear that the mobile version will be a super limited, app-oriented phone edition that would only dream of granting the same freedom that its desktop counterpart does.

  • how do u in stall this and is there any way to do so on sony mylo

  • Hi

    Great job about this :)

I just was wondering, have you tried to run some 3D game (does OpenGL works)?

    Thanks for replying

  • hey is this a x86 version or a arm version (in either case is it possible to run x86 apps)

  • TV-out works?

  • @Zeusfenster no buddy. its just the os

  • Aweeeeeeeeesome

    I LOOOOVE MY N900!!!!

    Its soooooooo Great

  • cool !! yet quite similar as other videos XD!! can u tell me hw the hell did u do this ??? STEP BY STEP i mean ;) chheers!! good job

  • Download the Debian from the Application manager, then install the image, it's about 1.5 GB, and then open the Debian LXDE file and you are good to go :)

  • no, thats not the same. it is debian running inside maemo. this is native

  • Does it kill the phone functionality?

  • simple answer....no

  • @1SavageDragon1 and the complicated answer? I cannot belive installing a different os would not kill the phone functionality, skype integration, etc.

  • @catalinaguerrero

I still try to make it simple. If you need to use the phones' os to make a call, you boot up the maemo os. If you need to use MER os then u boot that up.

  • @ralfalf4 no.... you can boot up maemo if u need phone

  • cool

  • Any news on how to set up this wonder?

  • That's amazing. I see the CPU meter is just a green block, though, lol. Seems to be running smooth, though, no? LXDE is just so lightweight. I hope it doesn't get bogged down as time goes by. I love it just the way it is. All light and smexy ;D

  • So will you be putting up a guide/tutorial for this?

  • mmm i want a tutorial for install this lxde (ubuntu mobile)

  • interesting!

  • Awesome !!!

did you install ubuntu on the SD card from a desktop and just hook it to the N900 ??

please tell us how you did that ! :D

  • Very nice, But I think something like Ubuntu Netbook Remix will be better because it was intended for small screen as he has big icons... Easier for a small screen.

  • Amazing.

  • 5*! This is awesome!

N900 Guru Msg Me On YouTube

  • Hey dude!

I haven't tried this, and I most likely won't, but awesome job!

  • thx dude!

  • I think it is not important to install win7 on N900,i think they should install windows xp)

  • wish but it xp wont run on arm processors unless some one make a small enough emulator to run on boot or something.

  • Linux it's mean to be unlimited.

  • Here's an idea would it be possible to install a software unto the unbuntu image that would increase speed by prioritorizing tasks and/or close of useless background processes. Something like the program 'speed up my pc' for windows and 'registry booster'....just throwing out ideas to increase speed...

  • what that fuck

    lol

  • Why wouldn't you try to install iMac (Iphone OS) ON N900 OR Windows 7 ON N900,,, Would be more than great,,,, waiting for the tut...Please help also if the tut was hard maybe someone could help

  • iphone os? why would someone install a less functional os on it? besides iphone os is closed. it wont be possible and apple does not have a good rep having wide driver support. windows 7 is not possible coz it wont run on arm cpu's. besides it a large os compared to a tiny cpu in mobile phones

  • @Nokia7Vista

    iPhone OS isn't important now.

Windows 7 doesn't really offer any advantages over this OS. Maybe I'm wrong, but can you name any?

  • win 7 is a bit different because it like the linux versions on your pc, will have more osftwares because all softwares are generally written for x86 cpu's. The cpu on n900 like all other phones, is arm based. So basically less softwares.Windows wont run on arm unless emulated like in dosbox

  • @lifenexus +1.

@everyone else. Linux has the ability to directly create a program from the source code. This means, that any program can be compiled to work on Arm processors(oversimplified). Thereby allowing the N900 to have access to more programs than any other device.

  • yup. Also since linux is open source, it can be run on anything. And also on "unorthdox " hardware like 100's of processors and 10's of graphics cards etc where windows or mac is not designed to run. Ill be testing a new method of install of this OS. If i succeed, all you have to do is drag and drop one file, extract, install boot menu and reboot and not go through the mess i went through. One way or the other, ill have working instructions for all of you

  • OMG, how can i get that on my n900. seems like it runs even faster than maemo hahah

  • wow linux is awesome on phones :D

  • great job, excellent I think it's the top, and over every border for mobile software

  • 100% pure awesome

  • thanks

  • this is great but make a video with how to.....thanks....a lot.

  • ill give that a trysoon

  • dual boot? this would make everything full speed o.o since there would be less background processes to hog memory/ram

  • excellent

  • how`is the battery life?

  • it wont be like the maemo's

  • very good video, tell me how you did. please

  • im working on an easier tutorial. once im done, ill post a link on the side

  • Ok, that was awesome. I'm a little confused though: Flash working, or not?

  • u can install any debian app as long as it will work with the armel cpu. i found some thing about flash on armel. ill give it a try

  • they use 100% prosser

  • can you do this also with symbian 5th?

  • great video!!!

  • Now that's fast!!! :)

I wonder if you can actually print to a wifi enabled printer from there? It should right? since it's actually ubuntu..

  • How that is pretty slick! I'd love more information on how to do this on my n900. Thanks

  • Looks great. Is there a dailer in Ubuntu? Are you able to make and receive calls? And are you able to use wifi and 3g for internet?

  • Nice 5*

  • Thanks

  • Wow, thanks for sharing this important vid !

  • your welcome
