  • @uofm97 you do know there were game boy 1, game boy color, and game boy advanced before advanced sp came out right?

  • I had no idea this game was released for the Game Boy (I'm assuming he's talking about the original Game Boy, not the Game Boy Advance SP version).

  • Addictive...you can say that again, im still playing this challenging game, its awesome !!! Greetings from Bosnia Mike.

  • I remember playing this game when i was like 4 or 5 years old brings good old memories. Super Mario Bros, Legend of Zelda, Shenmue, Panzer Dragoon all this good old games FTW

  • Like if you have this game for the 3Ds

  • PitchBlackGuitarMan@ whos mike?

  • i remember playing this gaat a friends home, it was so awesome :D (so looking for a snes!!)

  • @WikiWaki91 It's not on SNES, it's on NES. But they totally should have made Super Excitebike for the SNES. That would have been awesome.

  • i play this for my 3DS :)

  • @wowbob22123 Great to know this game's legacy lives on!

  • Excitebike for the old school 'black and white' Gameboy? I do believe that never existed. You must be thinking of Motocross Maniac's. ^^

  • I remember the online multiplayer was AWESOME !!!

  • Good and informative review, but you sounded soooo bored doing this lol

  • Does anyone remember a side scrolling shooter for NES, it was a bike with guns, you could pick up some more weapons along the way. I played it long time ago and don't remember its name.

  • yay looks like fun im gunna get this for gameboy maby ^-^ (i dont have a nes or snes)

  • This is an excellent review. I gotta get more games like this where everything is just so simple, none of that uploading online, trophy achievement crap.

  • used to paly this on pegasus, great game

  • Is there a reason you talk like a half assed William Shatner? I'm honestly asking. Is that the way you normally talk or is there some shoddy audio editing going on here for some sort of longstanding joke I am not aware of?

  • 2:17 purple unicyclists LOL

  • @tvwatcher21 lol nice catch.

  • I got this on the Nintendo eshop on 3DS, its epic

  • my childhood this game and smb3 and ocarina of time

  • "Making the least drivable course" - Mission accomplished!

  • IDK its weird, im 14. And my dad grew up with these games, and the irony is that, I am the one that reminds him of these games from his childhood. I know or at least remember more NES games than he does.

  • i had this game back in 1989

  • I downloaded this game on the 3DS and I have to say.........THIS IS FUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!!

  • I got it on the 3DS!

  • you get this game free on the 3DS

  • @EnterTheNoodle1

Not till June 7th or 8th however...

Also it's not going to be the original game, but a 3D remake. I suspect it will be based on the 3DS Music screensaver "update" of the game... i think it will be rendered playable.

  • @colliric cool

  • but in the game boy version you only had one line not 4 for the bikes to drive on

  • goldeneyeonline . com***

  • I remember playing this and not creating a track... but then playing the non "created track" .. it just went on FOREVER!!!!

had no idea this was on the gameboy back in the day.. i should seek that out

  • Review some Sega Master System games.

  • You should have re-created the course from battletoads. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about. Just kidding, love the vids man. Keep 'em coming. Oh yeah, and definitely more beer. May I suggest some dunkelweiss with your next wolfenstein review?

  • Hey Mike what you didn't know is that if you tick with your back wheel the wheel in the front of your opponent's bike he crashes...that's how i use to play :) back in ...96

  • @crossadam sorry !

  • Whoa, there was an "Excitebike" game on the Game Boy?? :o

  • Very much like Joe Danger for PSN.

    Nice game..

Remember playing exitebike at my friends house, back in the days :)

  • Hahahahahahah woowww.I Remember in this game you had the ability to create the stage (sry bad english)

  • I don't really see the connection between Super Mario, Metroid and Excitebike...

  • @Tryzon Each one is a Nintendo classic, they were all very popular at some point.

  • @Qwertyguy86 I obviously know they're famous and popular, but I meant that they seem to be entirely different games from opposing genres. It'd be like me recommending somebody to play Burnout because they like CoD. See what I mean? It just struck me as a strange comment, that's all.

  • HOW AWESOME IS THIS? :D

  • I still can't find the game boy version!!! can anyone show it to me somehow? (review, video, whatever)

  • excitebike 64 my first game i ever had good times good times :)

  • This is a great game! My bro and I now play Excitebike World Rally over the Nintendo WFC.

  • You should review Excitebike: World Rally for Wiiware. Its extremely faithful to the NES original

  • I used to play this game back then SO MUCH and to be honest, it's in my personal top 10 most entertaining NES games. But funny thing, when I played it as a kid I didn't even know what internet was, let alone thinking I'd be watching a review about it on some video sharing site. How fast things change these days *sigh*

  • Excitebike sounds like some kind of sexual stimulation device for women.

  • I have 1000000 Nintendo award points!

  • I hope Mark reviews Excitetruck for the Nintendo Wii after this one.

  • Great review...........could you possibly review "Enduro Racer" on the Sega Master System? One of my favorite all time games and its similiar (but different) then this classic.

  • man it reminds me of my childhood awesome game

  • I've never played this game or seen actual game play (On TV not Youtube) I've seen a parody of it (Robot Chicken), But it looks like a fun game, I'm even impressed that it has a level design for an NES Game. I may get it on the Virtual Console if I have the points

  • wow, is it just coincidence or is CGR reviewing all my favourite games at the moment?????? the only thing which could ever make CGR better is a banjo kazooie review!!!

  • mark you should review rally bike !!

  • The coolest part of this was how you could make your own tracks, so awesome back then.

  • thats the only game my dad could afford to buy me back then.

  • Oh man, I remember this very well. Good times!

  • the comp was gettin its ass kicked in that track he made lol

  • who else loves how mark said exItebike!!!!

  • @hattorihanzoxx Shut up nerd.

  • Most boring game ever made for NES. I don't understand how to enjoy this game at all. What am I missing?

  • @dogeymon83 everyone has different opinions

  • bashing the buttons like a maniac gets you faster on the bike again after a crash !!!

  • fuck nigger loving americans

  • haha the track you made looks ridiculous, great review!!

  • Excitebike is like that game that you absolutely love... but you have no idea why...

  • He still hasn't reviewed this game omg! This was one of the top games on the NES

  • So that's what those arrow things do...

  • 2:04 he went thrue the wall!

  • I remember this game being fucking hard when I was little, 16 years later I come back and annihilate it with ease.

  • And ModNation Racers thinks it's so special...

  • @cosmosofinfinity ModNation ripped off sooo many Nintendo games.

  • i wish they had nitros in this game. motocross maniacs, which really is excitebike 2, had that feature. i wonder if nintendo could have done LOOPS in this game akin to sonic 2 on the genesis...

  • 1:29 i have never seen a 3rd placer celebrate much more than the 2nd and 1st placers.

  • i love this game.

  • fuck grammar

    and fuck you

    wanna adhere to grammar

    stay in english class bitch

  • @Utubesuxmycock now thats what i call ownage! lol!

  • I got the Lesbian Version = EXCITE DYKE!!

  • @bluesgurugod HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

  • One of most awesome games on NES!

  • Gotta say it. And I don't use this word lightly. Awesome !

Not just for this review but for the obvious hugh effort in coming up with these reviews. Great stuff. Keep em coming.

  • Mark, what are you doing?! Do a wheelie over those little bumps so you won't crash!

Also, you can trip up any other bike by hitting their front tire with your rear one >:D

  • Oooh I remember this game when I was 4! :D

  • The countless weekends I spent playing this. :P

  • :D it had track editor!!!!!! Remember that noise ?? engine sound xD So awesome in its time ;)

  • Wait wait... There was an original game boy version of this? I can remember Motocross Maniacs by Konami/Ultra, and the GBA and eReader had versions too, but I don't think there was ever an official Game Boy Excitebike release before the GBA.... just sayin'.

  • aids

  • Believe it or not, the first time I played this game was on the original Animal Crossing... infact, that's where I played Balloon Fight for the first time, as well. Both were great fun. I would always try to beat all the tracks on Excite Bike but it's pretty difficult... fun nonetheless.

  • ahh, i remember this great game!

  • @JefferyWylde could you not do flips in this game ages since i played it>?

  • I actually remember this one very good, nice review!

  • excite bike.one of the best fucking games i played as a kid

  • i love this game ! much better than COD series .

  • @Weider63 That's not hard =P

  • @MrMarill but it is funny as hell )

  • @Weider63 >_> troll harder

  • @Weider63 lol def not

  • @radmaster13 lol def fanboy .

  • @Weider63 lol def not

  • @Weider63 how did I know someone like you was gonna make a comment like that..? People like you need to go away and leave us real gamers alone.

  • @Weider63 Yep,that's the truth, shame that gamers all around me only play black ops and occasionally halo or MW2.

  • WOW?! brings back a lot of memories, time to reminisce on the good old days :)

  • YES YES fucking YES!

  • Awesome game. I let my 2 year old play it all the time! She doesn't do to well, but at least she finishes the rac.

  • hahaha i remember playing this game... good old days :P

  • I love the jab at the modern day bullshit.

Fuck the COD juice box dorks.....long live retro hippies....

  • Lol at the crack on people who tweet about their lunch!

  • I used to play this in the early 90s. The track editor was my favorite thing to mess with. Good memories. =)

  • I remember my friends and I trying to convince ourselves that the Save/Load feature actually worked. We'd sit there waiting for it to "save" a track, but all it was doing was timing out trying to communicate with a disk drive that didn't exist over here.

There's no battery save or RAM in these cartridges either. The feature is simply nonfunctional. I wonder if the NTSC game manual makes any reference to the disk drive, but if it did I'm surprised I didn't hear about it back then.

  • Dude, no mention of knocking over 5 other bikes and getting "Excitebite" so you have unlimited turbo. Until you wreck again that is.

  • You're not using the overdrive enough...

  • I LOVED playing this game, I always overheated the engine when I played. maybe i'll dig up my Jnes emulator and rom and play this. Also remember making an impossible course like you did here. I like the sound the game makes when you switch lanes.

  • at least on virtual console, you can save the tracks now =)

  • @Chuplayer I think he was referring to Motocross Maniacs, a VERY SIMILAR game, but crazier in design.

  • Mark, I know you did this review already.

  • @Ketorulz No he didnt. CGR undertow did.. not mark

  • @MikePitcher No, I'm pretty sure Mark did. And even so, I don't really care, just wanted to point it out. If this was a remake, it was a damn good one.

  • This is one of the few videos you've done on a game that I actually remember playing! I think one of the most nostalgic things about these games is definitely the sound generated from the bike itself and other miscellaneous things. Awesome.

  • I had a NES until 2000 before I bought another console.

  • The Nintendo Entertainment System is very entertaining.

  • Man, brings back the memories. To think my favorite stage was three because of the cool looking track

  • Yes, the true joy of Excitebike was making torture courses. My favorite thing to do was just place a bunch of "R's" (I believe that's it, the giant mountainous obstacle) one after the other...after the other...after the other...forever. And also for fun you could place a whole bunch of arrows leading up to an H.

  • I'm not sure if the Nintendo version actually had it, but the arcade version had "Excitebike" mode which never overheated. The bike would switch to Black/Yellow/Red colors after wrecking 7 dudes without crashing.... He forgot to mention that. -Cheers!

  • This brings back memories for sure!

  • you cant imagine how much i enjoyed this video... tho

^^ so much i had to go google to find a ROM and a nes emulator for this game.

  • Too bad the save feature doesn't work. Why leave it as an option? the world will never know.

  • @BatoGamer It does work, but the cartridge had a limited save battery, so eventually it would corrupt or erase your saves at some point. However, if you play the VC or rom version, the save will work better.

  • @BatoGamer Yes. The world will know. It was because, back in those days, Nintendo was all so very optimisting about releasing this thing called...a disc drive...to America. This would have meant that games could -save- and -load- files from -programmable series- carts, like Excite Bike. It would also mean that one could buy a disc at a major game store, stick it into a store side machine and buy pure software games at low, low prices! (What a concept. Why didn't that...oh, yea. Internet!)

  • 4:01 he described my life!... god i'm so lonely :P:P

  • Can you do AMIGA games?

  • Excitebike is pure class. Love the track builder.

  • greatest fun if this game is to get a guy of hus bike by useing you front wheel on his back wheel xD

  • I remember this game. It's one of the first console games I ever played. It was around 1995 -- so a while after its time. I was five, over at a friends house and my friend asked his dad if we could get the video games out, it probably belonged to his Dad.

I couldn't believe how awesome this game was and that you could make your own tracks.

  • shit i love this game, i used to play it with my cousin... but i sucked

  • what about super no over heat bikes after you trip up 5 enemies????, that is such an important part that you dont even know about

  • a simple game for a simple pleasure.

  • @Croxyndul

    penis

  • The Gameboy didn't actually have "Excitebike", but it had Motocross Maniacs, which was the same idea but a little crazier.

  • @rchrdcrg true but gba had exite bike as ereader cards

  • @rchrdcrg That game was also a lot of fun and very addictive. I loved the music in that game, which played during tracks as well. It was also much more creative in design. You could say it was the better game!

  • Why did I used to think the title was pronounced "EK-SY-TUH-BIKE"?

I know how to pronounce "excite" properly, just putting the word "excite" together with "bike" made me pronounce it oddly.

  • OMG EXCITEBIKE! i remember playing this in vietnam xD
