Well the Herman's Hermits version is still far better. The reason for this was the very tasteful arrangement, remember the strings and bells, by John Paul Jones. In fact, he was one of the busiest arrangers in sixties Engalnd before he joined Led Zeppelin. Since Graham Gouldman a top songwiter in that period was based in Manchester where the Hermits hailed from, I don't know how the E-types got hold of the song.
Where was this band from? Great to see a cover of a Graham Gouldman song. He penned so many good tunes that everyone knows, but so few know him. I'm in a band that does Heart Full of Soul. I'd love to do a string of his 60s hits
Happy New Year to you! Wishing you a healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year 2009! I love the Music of The E-Types! Thank you to Bob Wence of The E-Eytpes for sharing. Be sure to look at my website for this fabulous band I created. It's listed on my You Tube channel!
I love this song Bob! I think The E-types were such a talented band in the 1960's. I hope you will continue recording. I love the old photographs of you and your band in the 60's. Such talent! I give you 5 stars for this video Bob! *****
Yeah, it's funny how the industry is still not "better version" oriented.....more like who is flash and who is moving more platters. I like Herman's Hermits too, (a smidge) but again the e-types just accelerate and lose 'em in the curves.
Another nice post! Thanx for sharing your experiences with us! You must have had a blast!!! ;)
Great performance and nice pictures. Didn`t know this one predated the Herman`s Hermits version. I just listened to the Sundazed CD again. I like much your live performance of "Wait".
Very cool using a harpsichord in that song. The E-types vocals are so impressive on every recording I've listened to. It's too bad this this didn't come out before Herman's Hermits. I would have bought this one instead of their version. Great version!
That other group released their version in 1967, about six months after we recorded it. Unfortunately, our record label just took their time getting the song out there. Once Herman's Hermits released their version, ours was left on the shelf. Finally, thanks to Sundazed Music in New York, it was released about thirty years later. Just a bit late to get the hit!

Bob,
As far as im concerned you
guys "were" the The Beatles
Of California.
Your version's truly
are alott more "kick"
than the ones that made
the charts in the 60's.

I had not heard your version of this great song before!
It is far superior to the track I know :-)
It's a crying shame your label dragged its heels and did not release sooner.
Great! track 5*.
Shame on that label!!
