There is no such thing as making money off a CD sale, at least not for the underground bands like these. Shows and merch is where they make their money. I'll download their music for free, then go to their show and throw a bit into their paycheck between buying a cool shirt and my ticket. I may even smoke them out. Pot is a great way to get paid.

@JonahS777 Ultimately, I think being am musician isn't about making money. Even if I put out an album and everyone illegally downloaded it, that's more satisfying than anything. I may not be able to tour anymore(which is doubtable, because if people dig it, they'll come to shows and buy merch, the two areas that bands get the most money out of), it'd be ok because I put out a creative product that affected people emotionally.
