  • ok, I don't know much about Gaelic, but her accent sounds very English to me....I mean, I've heard people from gaeltacht speak and it sounded very different from this...

  • People outside An Ghaeltacht speak Irish too, and the accents vary wildly.

  • German isn't the same in the Alps as it is in Berlin; Japanese in Tokyo isn't the same as it is in Hokkaido. Her accent sounded different than this because she speaks differently from what you heard. She doesn't sound English at all. She sounds Irish - just not the same as Irish-speakers sound in the Gaeltacht area(s) you were in.

  • Three dialects and speakers in all walks of life from various parts of the island mean different-sounding speakers. By the same token that you wouldn't (or shouldn't) expect someone to sound the same in London the way they do in rural Lancaster, or speakers in Chicago and Bluefield, West Va. to speak the same.

  • @Notcoldsoup She is speaking Dublin/Lienster Irish I think, which is easiest to understand for most. The accents and dialects in Ireland are all very different sounding, in the Donegal area the language is almost a different language all together and many find it hard to understand. But the accents are so diverse here that it can be hard to understand. I speak Leinster Irish, I would find it difficult to talk to someone with Munster or Donegal Irish. Simply because the accents are so different.

  • poor leon from hex. he has really gone down in the world.

  • BARRYS FOIR LIFE!
